> I live in an area with very few home decor stores, so buying decor I could see in person just wasn't working for me. I contacted Patty and she was prompt in responding, right on time for our appointment, and listened to what I needed/wanted. She offered great suggestions and we were able to come up with a plan. We were able to use a lot of the decor items I already had and she added some nice pieces to bring it all together. By having some chairs reupholstered the living room came together nicely. Overall it was a good experience and I will definitely call her again when I have areas that need updating.

**Comment from Koskovich Design Group LLC:**

> Thank You, It was a pleasure working with you and your beautiful home. I'm glad we were able to make some changes that you are happy with. You have a lovely home. I love the new upholstery on your chairs too:)

> After interviewing a few designers, I decided to hire Patty Koskovich to help my husband and I with our complete upstairs remodel. Initially we were just doing the living area and kitchen. I had never hired a designer before, so I wanted one with experience and lived in our area since we weren't familiar with which places to go for flooring, tiles, countertops and all the other things you need for a remodel project. She came to our house and walked us through the whole process. She let us know our options in terms of what services she could provide and how much each would cost. We were lucky to also have a creative contractor and the two of them worked well together. Our laundry area was right off the kitchen and you could see it from the living area; one of the first things she suggested was simple, but none of us had thought of it. Her idea was to move the washer and dryer to the other side of the room! It made an amazing difference, we got a bigger kitchen, my husband got a coffee nook, and now our laundry area was hidden, a win/win!
> We initially hired Patty to help with color, my husband and I went round and round and still couldn't make a decision. She helped us choose colors that we liked but also would enhance resale down the line. At that point we knew it would save us a lot of time and
> frustration to have her help us with all of our big decisions. We brought several flooring samples home and she helped us find one that added interest but not distraction, (not our first choice but turned out to be perfect in the end). After we picked cabinets, Patty went with us to the pick countertop's that would look nice with them, as well as look good with the flooring and wall colors. She did not steer us to her taste, but rather helped us discover our own style. We are now in the second phase of our project, and once again we needed her help choosing colors for the bedroom and bathroom that wouldn't clash with the living area colors and she did not disappoint.
> Since this was my first time using an interior designer, I have nothing to compare it to, but I would not hesitate to call on her again when and if we ever tackle another project like this. She was not the least expensive designer I talked to, but I found her billing to be very fair and with her years of experience and her expertise in every aspect of building and design, it was money well spent.
> Remodeling is very stressful, we appreciated the fact that if we asked Patty for her opinion she was happy to oblige but was never pushy, and ultimately she let the decisions be ours. She helped us make the best choices for our project, saved us time and headaches, and inadvertently, probably helped keep our marriage intact.

**Comment from Koskovich Design Group LLC:**

> Thank You for the nice review Marta. It was a pleasure working with you and Tom. I think your project turned out great with beautiful flooring, cabinets, counters and tile work. I also like the way the fireplace turned out. Love the lighting Tom picked. I know it was alot of work and decisions but when it finally is done you get your home to reflect you and it improves in value. It was nice to work with your contractor, Brian, and add my input. Working with a designer can open up choices you may not see otherwise and yes we sometimes mediate between partners:)

> Patty worked with us to remodel our kitchen and family room 6 years ago. We still love the space. She helped coordinate all the materials and colors and worked patiently with us as we arrived at all those decisions. Would definitely hire her for a project like this again--but we won't have to, as we are still extremely happy with the fabulous results.

**Comment from Koskovich Design Group LLC:**

> Thanks Karen and David. It was a pleasure working with you and I do love the results too. Since we choose such a beautiful granite in green tones I am glad we were able to add red in the family and laundry room.

> Patty was great to work with and has a wonderful sense of color and style. She did an excellent job of coordinating with my contractor and realtor as this was a remote project.

> Thanks Sarah. It was a pleasure working with you even from our long distance from LA we were able to communicate to meet your needs. I'm glad you are pleased and enjoying your new home!

> We hired Patty on a retainer as we need help in only certain specific areas for our complete kitchen remodel. She did a great job listening to us and then recommended colors/products to us based upon our input. She reviewed our selections and either liked them or gave feedback for improvements.

**Comment from Koskovich Design Group LLC:**

> Looks great. You did such a nice job building the cabinets. All the materials work well together. It was a pleasure to work with you both, thanks.

> We remodeled the house to eliminate as much man-made chemicals, materials and surfaces as possible due to serious chemical sensitivity issues. All floors needed to be replaced. The counters and cabinets needed to be replaced along with the kitchen appliances. Most furniture needed replacing plus we wanted pictures for the walls and area rugs. Because we couldn't travel, Patty (Koskovich) did the searching for us, bringing samples to us to touch to verify they were "safe." Patty worked with suppliers to identify materials that were compatible. There was a fair amount of project "creep" as we realized more areas that needed work. She did a wonderful job tracking down all the various components that made up the kitchen, bathrooms, and master bedroom, coordinating all the colors and textures to produce a visually gorgeous display. She acted as the "contractor" to bring in most of the various "subs" to do the jobs. Overall we were very, very pleased with the results and allowed Patty to submit her work in an interior design competition.

> We sought Patty Koskovich's expertise this past year because we: replaced all the flooring (hardwood & carpet) in our home, painted all the interior walls, replaced all the window coverings, spruced up the kitchen with new countertops, tile backsplash, hw flooring, sink, fridge, oven, cabinet hardware, and bought all new furniture, area rug, tables, and accents for the living room and rec room. And updated lighting throughout the whole house, which also makes a huge difference. At the outset, we felt completely overwhelmed, inexperienced and inadequate with all the choosing, coordinating of aesthetics from room to room and decision-making involved. We suspected that an interior designer like Patty would be of great benefit in helping us to pull everything together throughout the house and make wise recommendations for both function and beauty so that our updating dollars were well-spent and pleasing to us long into the future. Read on!
>
> Jackpot! Patty met with us several times in our home, took photos & measurements, discussed with and advised us, helped us shop and choose several times, sent product suggestions our way, and checked in with us, as well as coordinating various parts of the projects. Over about a year or so, figuring in the various tradesmen involved with installation, our home was nicely transformed! Whether you need a small or large amount of assistance, hiring an interior designer like Patty is always a good and worthwhile idea! Plus, she was great to work with in every way. She respected our budget and advised us accordingly, too. We love the results.

**Comment from Koskovich Design Group LLC:**

> Julie you worked hard following through with all the tasks I gave you. I am so proud of all the things you have achieved and everything is looking great!

> I highly recommend Patty as an interior designer. Patty worked with me to transform my home into the beautiful comfortable retreat I dreamed of. Patty listened to my objectives and captured my personal style. She re configured my furniture so it looked and worked far better. Patty picked out floor coverings and window treatments that finished the spaces beautifully and she worked with me selecting paint colors for each room. Communication was great- I set a budget which Patty worked within and she finished the project within my time frame. I will definately work with Patty on my next project.

  - Description: This homeowner had wanted to redo her kitchen for quite awhile. We met and discussed the project and costs, found a great contractor and off we went. Her current cabinets had turned orange overtime so we decided to keep them and paint them white. The island was a step up and impeded her entertaining so we did a standard height island. I designed the custom island, shelf over the range and the new bookcase layout (keeping a section of the prior bookcase to reduce cost). A custom cabinet maker del…

  - Description: The homeowner wanted to update her home by interior work and painting and remodel her kitchen. She had many trades in her home working and was the project manager for the changes. She had interviewed and selected a custom cabinet company when I arrived. We went over the design and added changes for her needs, selected the wood species and stain color; replaced and added flooring to compliment the cherry cabinets; she also updated her desk area by refacing it to match the new kitchen. - Description: This homeowner wanted to update and furnish her home. We worked via emails and phone calls as she did most of her own project management. We researched together, went to my flooring source and shopped retail. I am very proud of all her hard work. Then we added an area rug and furniture in a more comfortable layout for the family. Fina…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Help with dining room accent wall!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am trying to find an accent wall color for my dining room. The walls are currently SW Kilim beige. My husband wants to keep the walls beige but I think we should add an accent wall for dimension. I tried SW Urban bronze and study brown but they were both way too dark. The picture on the wall has dark tones so the accent wall can't be too dark or the picture won't pop. Should I just leave the entire dr kilim beige or should I continue to look for an accent color? I was thinking a light grey or a darker color on the kilim beige color strip called Hopsack.

A: I think it looks good with the walls painted beige again. I like the idea of a color on the window instead of pale cream panels. There are a lot of places to look for side panels: Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Smith and Noble. I would keep in mind if the window faces a street that the draperies need to be lined. Hang them high and full, a silk would be nice. Graphics patterns are very popular now but a solid silk is always nice. If you do choose to place a rug under the table remember that over time there will be a faded area around the rug so get the correct size first.

**Q: Verdict on the rug?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The rug you all helped me pick arrived today. I LOVE it although it's much more blue then I realized...are the blues working with the grays? Do I need to tie blues in elsewhere to make it work? I was going to do white panels but maybe I need something with blue?

A: Kelly I just now am joining in so I may have missed a lot. I think if you like the run and the color then keep the rug and add in some of the colors in your panels rather than all white. Also I like the mirror but what about a nice large piece of art with some of the colors of blue. Art is a great way to add in an accent color.

**Q: Help" I need a door color!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Recently painted our home. Color is pretty dark but is very nice. It's kind of a gray brown. (Sikkens veto Hazelnut ). In certain light it can even have an eggplant hue. Desperate for a door color. We have a lot of doors but only the front door is a solid door. All the others at full length glass so you only see a frame around the glass. I was leaning toward a warm gold but would love feedback from others. (Should I keep them warm white to match the trim? Or is that too conservative?)

A: Hello Tracy, I am going to suggest a different approach. I do like the house color you chose and the white trim is nice. I think what you need more than a door color is some architectural detail. It appears that you are starting your landscaping so I would add a tall, thin tree to the end of the house (opposite the garage), the tree will help balance the tall garage end. Next I would suggest some detail around the front door as in adding a porch, pediment, columns or arbor. There are several ways to address it but with the front steps already poured you will need to stay within the space, look at some classic older homes many have this detail. Last I would consider white shutters on either side of the window above the garage. Then when you finish your landscaping add some colorful pots and plants. Good luck with your lovely home:)

**Q: Additional photos** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, do you have any more photos of this kitchen from different angles? Thanks

A: I have added a second view which is open from the family room into the kitchen. The island has a curve to it and seats 5-6. There is also good traffic flow to access the sliding patio doors to the backyard.
