Might be a little hard to describe how we did it as it was one of those 'creative thinking' solutions as the designer/client added the lighting at the last minute. The Stact racks were installed on an MDF panel with a 1/2" routed channel on the back of the MDF where the LED strip lighting was installed. Those panels were then mounted on another smaller MDF panel which created a 1/2" gap between the bigger panels (and racks) and the tiled wall, a gap just big enough to allow the light to radiate from behind but not alloe the back of the panel (and channel) to be seen from the sides. This was especially important given that one side is exposed to the stairwell from the second floor. All the panel edges and backsides were finished in gloss lacquer to match the Stact wine racks so the look was seamless.The final product was impressive and the client was extremely happy with the result. One thing to note about this product is that is a beautiful, hand-scraped, engineered material which does have a rough surface and 'raised' corners on some planks. This is normal. However, while the raised corners do add to the rustic look, they can and do tear nylons, which we have had clients comment on.
