> I'm only afraid that another review with exactly the same high praise of the whole team at North River Builders won't be believed, but it's all true. Nile was professional, approachable and so prompt. I contacted them through Houzz and he responded to my email within 15 minutes. Brent was like my new best friend. Sometimes I think I talked to him more than my best friend! Thank you Brent! To this neophyte, they explained the whole process and it made sense. I haven't heard of other builders using the CoConstruct platform, but I found it essential to the communication and understanding of the entire project. There are always a few surprises, especially with an old house, but I feel so much better stepping on my bathroom floor now I know I won't fall through. CoConstruct made it easy to see these change orders. Thank you Chris. I had two foot surgeries and was not very mobile during the whole project, but I got daily pictures and explanations of what occurred each day. Everytime I stopped by whole crew greeted me with a kind smile and a warm hello. Thanks Jeff and Marcos and Tim! The timing of the actual construction couldn't have gone any better. They started the day before my first surgery and they finished everything (except the exterior painting which will be done when the warmer weather returns) by the time I was able to walk in to do the wrap up meeting last week. Thanks Joe!
> My house is not big or as grand as many of the other projects in their extensive portfolio, but they treated it with the same respect and immaculate attention to detail. Neighbors and strangers alike who walked or drove by would seek me out to expound on the diligence and commitment of the crew on site everyday. All around, a great experience. After this, I think I'll only be able to work with North River Builders.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> It's a pleasure to read such heartfelt praise about our team. If there were a website to rate clients, we’d absolutely give you five stars as well! Your clear communication and timely decision-making played a huge role in your project’s success. Thank you for putting your trust in us!

> North River is a high quality, outstanding General Contractor. Nile and his team deliver a great product . We got several quotes and NRB was the most detailed and thoughtful quote that we received. We ended up being on budget, with some change orders - but Nile was absolutely fantastic to work with. His team, his subs and everyone who came to our house was respectful, on time, clean, detail oriented. The quality of the work is outstanding - amazing attention to detail. Nile helped guide us through the project and ultimately helped us make some great, important decisions along the way. This is a great choice for a medium or large project - highly, highly recomment.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> Thank you! It's always a pleasure to work with you and K, and we greatly appreciate the repeat business over the years

> North River exceeded our expectations for our kitchen and downstairs renovation project. The project was thoughtfully and carefully planned and then they stuck with the plan throughout its execution, both with regard to budget and timing. Their attention to detail, the professionalism of all their people, the ease of communication with them over questions and concerns -- all top notch. The finished product is amazing. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

**★★★★★ — Amy Simon, Dec. 2020**

> We have been working with Nile and North River Builders for many years. We just completed a kitchen renovation and are thrilled with the job NRB did. Nile and his team showed the utmost respect for our home and our privacy throughout the entire process and the work they did is of the highest quality. Their attention to detail is second to none. We would definitely hire NRB for future building projects.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> Thank you, Amy!
> As always, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you. The team and I are honored by your continued trust in us, and we look forward to working with you on future projects.

> I cannot praise the crew at North River high enough. Top quality craftsmen, extremely attentive to detail, very attuned to their client's satisfaction, a delight to work with and the absolute best at communicating with us. I would use them again without question, and intend to do so very soon.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> Thanks John, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you & Liz, and we look forward to our next project together!

**★★★★★ — Mark Chandler, Sept. 2019**

> North River Builders designed and built our kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom in a series of separate projects. Each project turned out as we had planned, on time and on budget. North River were easy to work with and understood our wishes, needs, and constraints! Not only was the project design handled well but the workers were very professional and had great attention to detail. The expectations set by North River were reasonable and fit into our plans. We certainly would have no qualms in engaging North River again and would recommend them for home design and construction projects be they small or large.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> Thank you Mark - it was an absolute pleasure to work with you on your projects, and I hope we have a chance to work together again in the future!

**★★★★★ — Kevin Cox, May 2019**

> Nile and his team at North River are amazing!! They are very professional and have an outstanding quality of workmanship. Nile has an amazing eye for design and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again.

**Comment from North River Builders Inc:**

> Thanks Kevin!
> We thoroughly enjoyed working with you and Cindy, and we are very grateful for the opportunity

**★★★★★ — Anne P, Dec. 2017**

> The team at North River Builders not only does very high quality work, they are also a genuine pleasure to work with. Nile listened to our ideas and made thoughtful suggestions appropriate for the style of our 120-year-old home. Client management is excellent: we received a detailed estimate and almost daily progress updates throughout the duration of our project. NRB has a web portal that made it easy for us to communicate change requests and track the budget and schedule. The folks who worked on site were always friendly and respectful of our space and time. Our new kitchen came out so beautifully, and it was such a positive experience all around, that I can't imagine using anyone else for future renovations.

**★★★★★ — Bill R, Feb. 2017**

> First rate job on a major renovation and remodel. A pleasure to work with the entire team of professionals. Ethical and honest project management and took responsibility for minor issues over a year after completion. Would hire Nile and his team again with no hesitation.

**★★★★★ — Lynn Hopkins Architects, Feb. 2017**

> Nile and North River Builders have been the general contractors on quite a few of the projects my architectural firm has designed. He and his crew are reliable, organized and quality conscious. They understand the design objectives of the project as well as the clients’ expectations, and consistently excel in meeting or exceeding both. When unforeseen circumstances arise, as is inevitable in any construction project, North River’s expertise combined with thoughtful investigation help produce a satisfactory resolution. Plus they are a group of intelligent, nice guys. Clients are delighted to have them working on and in their homes.

**★★★★★ — elmchale, Oct. 2014**

> A talented group of professionals that have worked on a remodel of the facade/elevation of our house and then a complete gut and remodel of our Masterbath and bedroom. Creative, kind, focused, and incredibly talented. They were so easy to work with and a pleasure to see each day as well. We were happy when the job was completed (on schedule) but sad to see them go because they were such nice people.

 - Location: Concord, MA
 - Photos: 5
 - Description: This mid-century modern home's owners have made countless minor improvements and undertaken several significant renovations over the years, steadily coaxing it out of the 1950s and into the 21st century. More recent advances include a considerable kitchen renovation, including opening up the floor plan to integrate the common areas with the kitchen space and multiple exterior upgrades to the main house and the garage.
- [House in the Hills](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/house-in-the-hills-pj-vj~7253761)
 - Location: Lincoln, MA
 - Photos: 20
 - Description: This stunning 1970s-era home was initially designed by renowned architect Hugh Newell Jacobson and built on a private wooded hilltop just west of Boston. The home is a collection of 3 distinct buildings joined by glass connectors. While the front façade is dotted with tiny windows, the back of the house is graced with expansive amounts of glass that blur the lines between indoors and out. The owners were looking to convert a segment of their home, previously seldom used, into a ground-level prim…

- [Colonial Connection](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/colonial-connection-pj-vj~7232483)
 - Location: Concord, MA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: The owners of this expanded colonial came to us with a challenge... renovate our kitchen space and the two disparate halves of the house. We created sight lines by opening up the walls surrounding the former kitchen, dining room, and hall areas and used the new open floor plan to bring the once disjointed house together into a cohesive home.
- [Barn-Style Garage](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/barn-style-garage-pj-vj~7229317)
 - Location: Concord, MA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: The shape of the lot played a big role in the development of this garage design. Since the lot was much too narrow to consider an attached garage, we designed a structure that would become the focal point of the expansive gardens behind the house. We used heavy timber accents and extra thick custom wood overhead doors to lend a timeless feel to the new structure. The finished second level housed a multi-use space that functions as an art studio, music rehearsal space, and a gathering area for sm…
- [Tranquil Transformation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/tranquil-transformation-pj-vj~7228396)
 - Location: Concord, MA
 - Photos: 11
 - Description: The owners of this expanded Dutch colonial were interested in upgrading multiple interior spaces and improving the floor plan. We made significant changes and floor plan improvements throughout the house, which made the house feel bigger, yet the only square footage we added was a new screen porch off the living room. A roof deck above the screen porch serves as a private outdoor space for the primary suite.

- [Farmhouse Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/farmhouse-kitchen-pj-vj~7233228)
 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: This beautiful farmhouse-style home is perfectly sited amidst acres of gently sweeping meadows and lush woodlands. While the view from any window is spectacular, the old kitchen was less so, and the owners called us to renovate it. The cabinetry countertops and most of the major appliances needed replacement, so we used the opportunity to reconfigure the layout. The result is more functional and beautiful enough to be a worthy frame for those gorgeous views.
- [Antique Home Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/antique-home-renovation-pj-vj~2300310)
 - Location: Concord, MA
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: This is a wonderful example of what can be done to give new life to a beautiful antique home. The original home exterior was preserved and/or restored as part of this complete renovation project. The interior floor plan was partially reconfigured to improve flow, and the home received a much welcomed energy-efficient envelope upgrade including soy-based closed cell spray insulation throughout and all new custom-built insulated windows. All electrical and plumbing systems were replaced, and a new…

 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: The kitchen of this 1847 home had been renovated by a previous owner sometime in the 1970s. The U-shape configuration was functional, and the windows and skylights provided abundant light. But the flush-front cabinets with too-small knobs were poorly constructed and dated. The solid surface countertop was utilitarian, but lacked interest. The current owners wanted a kitchen that felt more serene, and sympathetic to the character of their historic home. The new Shaker-style cabinets are a pale ro…

 - Location: Cambridge, MA
 - Photos: 6

 - Description: the owners of this meticulously maintained Mid-Century home wanted to expand their previously tiny galley kitchen, create an open food prep area and eating bar, and brighten up the dining area with more glass. - Location: Lexington, MA

 - Description: The owners had a charming but modest cape with low ceilings and small rooms on a narrow, deep, sloping site. The house is located in a suburban town, but the property feels almost rural because of the neighbors’ farmland on two sides. The owners wanted to add a great room that would take advantage of the views and connect with the landscape on two levels. The addition is a barn-like structure, in keeping with the rural character of the site and the simple forms of the original house. The great r…

 - Description: When this circa 1840’s carriage house in the center of town was purchased, its new owners knew it had plenty of problems. Not only was it was poorly sited on the lot, the building had sat vacant and neglected for years, and was in pretty rough shape overall. Where others saw a tear-down, however, they saw potential, and they called North River Builders to help. ## Community Q&A

**Q: front porch boards** *(in Photo Questions)*

What wood is used for the front porch decking? Thx!

A: The decking is 1x6 Meranti (often sold under the generic name “mahogany”). It is attached with a hidden fastener system, and left untreated to allow it to weather naturally to a soft gray.

**Q: Really like cabinets & color Mfgr.? Like the pendant lighting mfgr.?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The cabinets are from Crown Point Cabinetry in Claremont NH (they are one of our favorite cabinet companies to work with, and they deliver anywhere). The cabinets are frameless construction with "Barnstead" doors & drawer fronts, and are painted with Sherwin Williams "Rainwashed".
The pendant lighting fixtures were furnished by the owners and the specifics are currently unavailable, but keep a lookout for updates.
