**★★★★★ — Joey Goldman, Feb. 2017**

> Mark listened to us, gave helpful advice, helped us narrow our options, and created a timeless design for our whole-house remodel. Our home, which was previously dark and felt cramped is now bright, open and spacious. He was really great to work with - I can't imagine going through a remodel without him.

**★★★★★ — Susan Rosenberg, Feb. 2017**

> Mark Reilly Architecture provided outstanding services on the remodel of my 1927 home. The design process was a meeting of the minds. The construction was closely monitored for work deadlines and the budget bottom line. I couldn't be happier with every aspect of this project.

  - Description: This Palo Alto guest cottage was part of a whole house remodel. The cottage was gutted and the ceiling raised to the rafters to give the illusion of more space. The walls and ceiling were clad in painted v-groove boards to add texture, and a floor-to-ceiling bookcase was added for storage. Additional storage was tucked under a new window seat, which increases the square footage and connects the space to the outdoors. Classic subway wall tile, modern floor tile, and vintage inspired fixtures upda…

  - Description: This top-floor San Francisco condo was expanded by building up. The kitchen roof and attic were transformed into a new roof deck and master suite. Small in size, the spaces make up for it with Douglas fir and Heath tile walls, along with hilltop views. To maximize space, storage was tucked into roof eaves and hidden in walls. A new reclaimed wood stair connects the addition to the relocated living room and remodeled kitchen. Natural wood, soapstone, tile, and industrial French light fixtures giv…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Medicine Cabinet** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the medicine cabinet a custom design or purchase from somewhere?

A: It's custom, with a frame that matches the window and door trim.

**Q: How is the shower curtain hung?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am looking for a recessed shower curtain track, or a track that is mounted on the ceiling. Often what I find reminds me of hospital curtains. I can't tell from the photos, have you used this method or a shower curtain rod? Thanks!

A: We used a medical curtain track, mounted flush to the ceiling. All the best with your project.

**Q: Tub** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello. Would you mind sharing the name of the tub?

A: Sure. The tub is vintage, and was repurposed from a bathroom in the main house.

**Q: What is the wood veneer used on the shelves/cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: They shelves are solid, vertical grain Douglas fir, not veneer. The cabinets are vertical grain Douglas fir veneer.

**Q: Sink** *(in Photo Questions)*

I don't understand why people post, but never reply. Please! Who makes the sink??!?!

A: Please see my previous responses, and best of luck with your project. You can find more info on this project here: The Architect Is In with Mark Reilly Architecture

**Q: Small bath remodel** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me the manufacturer and collection name of the hexagon tile.

A: I believe it's blanco, a brighter white.
