### Reviews

**★★★★★ — SME Development Partners, April 2016**

> Nicole and Burlock Interiors have been fantastic to work with. We retained Burlock to provide complete interior design and specification services for a new 81 unit luxury rental apartment. She has been intimately involved in both providing great design direction and also keeping it within a strict budget. Nicole has provided detailed drawings as well as sourced many of the materials which provides for an easy implementation of the project. She is never flustered by the inevitable changes but just charges ahead solving problems and providing alternate solutions.
>
> This is the third project I have hired Burlock to do interior design work on.
>
> Nicole is a consummate professional, great designer, and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her for any project large or small!

**★★★★★ — galazzoglass, Nov. 2015**

> I have worked with Nicole on several projects, including a Designer Showhouse I organized to combine design and artists in new and innovative ways. Nicole created the most innovative magical forest space for children. It was the hit of the Designer Showhouse. Recently Nicole created a breakfast room for me. Her design incorporated a collage of an artist paintings with a designer lattice over the collage. Casually chic furnishings, banquet seating and window dressings completed the look. Perfectly executed, and on time it was a room that anyone would want to have breakfast in every day.

**★★★★★ — NY Lighting Design/ Victoria Ford, Nov. 2015**

> Nicole is an incredibly talented designer with excellent taste. I recently worked with her on a 1920's style farmhouse restaurant/bar. Her vision and attention to detail with respect to the period was spot on. I was very impressed with her design of the bar and her choice of materials. She is fun and great to work with.

**★★★★ — openhowes, Jan. 2015**

> What I like best about working with Burlock interiors is that Nicole really tries to find exactly what you are looking for. We wanted a slightly offbeat look for our "Casbah" Bathroom and we reviewed together a wide range of potential materials and patterns but nothing was just right or within our budget. FInally, Nicole found a perfect solution: a green glass tile with a genie bottle curve was exactly the vibe we wanted to create.

**Comment from Burlock Interiors:**

> Thank you, so much for taking the time out to review us. It's truly been a pleasure to work with you this past year. It was a great mix. of work. We had the opportunity to do something fun with the "Casbah" bathroom and as far as your master bath, it is definitely the most complex one we've done to date. We hope you are as proud of it as we are.

> I was hired as construction manager/general contractor for a complete interior renovation by the new owners of a residence with beautiful Hudson River views. Nicole Ashey, of Burlock Interiors was brought on board early in the development of the project to orchestrate the redesign of the master bath suite as well as a second guest bath/laundry. She managed to expertly juggle the homeowners' aesthetic visions, construction schedules and an incredible assortment of materials and finishes and deliver one of the best designed spaces I have had the pleasure of constructing in 30 years. I will recommend Burlock Interiors to any and all of my residential and commercial clients.

> We hired Burlock to decorate several rooms in our new home. We are beyond pleased with the results. Nicole was meticulous about getting to know our needs and design style. She is extremely knowledgable and professional, and a pleasure to work with. She respected our budget and always gave us a host of options - as to furniture, paint colors, accessories. We truly enjoyed the process, and are extremely grateful to Burlock for helping us to start making our house a cozy home. We fully plan to hire Burlock again as we continue to tackle design projects in our home.

**Comment from Burlock Interiors:**

> As you know, your family room is our favorite turn-out to date. We look forward to topping it. Thanks for this review, you helped us in being awarded Best of Houzz 2015.

**★★★★★ — Robin Lois, Dec. 2014**

> Burlock Interiors was recommended to me by my architect that I have used for many years for one of my home renovation projects. I called Burlock and was impressed immediately by Nicole's professionalism and friendliness. We met soon after and she had refreshing ideas right from the start. I feel that I have a pretty good sense of decor and style but Nicole made choices that I never would have made in a million years and I loved them! She was able to match the renovation decor with the rest of my home and with the furniture I intended on using but with an upgrade. The selections were timeless and classy. I could never have done it that well without her. Everyone that sees her work at my house is impressed. They are my three favorite rooms in my house! I can't wait to use Burlock again on my next reno!

**Comment from Burlock Interiors:**

> It was a lot of fun to work with you! That fun has continued with your new baby, Taconic Fitness. We wanted to make sure we thanked you for this awesome review as you helped us in being awarded Best of Houzz 2015. Thank you!

**★★★★★ — Quatrefoil Inc., Oct. 2014**

> Nicole Ashey did the styling for a photo shoot for us. Her creativity and resourcefulness were extremely helpful. Locating unique accessories and setting up believable still lives, she was able to bring a fresh perspective to the space and stage it in a very imaginative and attractive way.

**Comment from Burlock Interiors:**

> Catherine, Michael, it's always a great pleasure to collaborate with you. We look forward to being able to work with you again soon. We just received word that we were awarded Best of Houzz 2015! We wanted to make sure that we thanked you and that you knew that your review made a difference.

**★★★★★ — Spring Lake Garden Design, May 2014**

> Working with Burlock Interiors is a pleasure. The owner is professional, responsive and able to listen carefully to what the clients wishes are. She remembers details and is respectful or client's budgets while still giving excellent ideas and concepts.

**★★★★★ — pdofoto, May 2013**

> I have photographed projects completed by Burlock Interiors, and have also been privy to the before and after comparisons of work done for friends and business associates. Nicole is always highly prepared and offers great looking solutions that merge her innate sense of style with the desires of her clients. I am especially impressed with her ability to deliver fantastic results no matter the budget.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Reap, Feb. 2013**

> You all know how it goes, I love my house, my home but I was so familiar with the surroundings and needed a real change. I was overwhelmed and so afraid to make a decision that I made no change at all. I wanted a whole new concept and needed to change things gradually so that the old transformed into the new over an extended period. How was I going to do that? Isn’t that impossible? I thought it was until I hired Burlock Interiors.
>
> Nicole managed to figure out what I wanted to accomplish and my design style even when I wasn’t sure myself. I wanted to go from Country(ish) to Modern(ish). She gave me a design board complete with pictures and colors based on our initial consultation. She also provided the specifications and resources for the furniture, lighting, window treatments and paint colors. I’ve made some of the changes already and it’s amazing. I love the direction and love the blend of the few pieces I wanted to keep with the new. It feels good to be in love with my home again.

**★★★★★ — uufarmgirl, Feb. 2013**

> I worked with Nicole on the decoration of my entire home. We worked together first to define a style, which I'd never really done before, and was fine with my hard limits (I have many many books and refuse to part with them). She was also very patient with me when I dithered on things and couldn't make up my mind, and when I insisted on doing things like making my own curtains. She was probably better about staying on top of the budget than I was. The process was great; the end result even better. I'm still particularly in love with the bedroom - waking up every morning in such a wonderful space starts the day off so beautifully.

## Selected projects

- [Bathroom Renovations](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bathroom-renovations-pj-vj~1027858)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Two bathrooms, one house. The Master Bath included a walk-in closet with mirrored doors and stone counter tops. This was a complex renovation with a double steam shower and radiant heat. The Cararra brick tile on the walls mixed with the porcelain chevron on the floor makes for a nice play between modern and classic design. The smaller secondary bath is of a different vein as it will be used by their young adult children and is set adjacent to their Morrocan-style lounge.

  - Description: This space was designed for a decorator showcase at Gallery 66 in Cold Spring, NY. It was entitled "Humans for Breakfast"- which is a metaphor for creating a better world by starting with one's self. Whether we like it or not, we are all woven together. If everyone started their day recognizing this, the world would likely be a better place. The emphasis here is on the human connection as illustrated through the room's most prominent feature--a collaborative wallcovering using the artwork of Reb…
- [New Construction-A Community Clubhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-construction-a-community-clubhouse-pj-vj~241303)
  - Location: Fishkill, NY
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: Overlook Pointe is a Condo and Town home community on the Hudson River. By using the textures of the river-sailboats, docks and driftwood-this design becomes a fresh take on the time-worn to provide a casual, yet sophisticated atmosphere. Burlock Interiors was up against 3 other design firms for this design proposal. We are just a little bit more than excited that they chose us as this space will have an impact on how this community lives.
- [Affordable Bathroom and Kitchen Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/affordable-bathroom-and-kitchen-renovation-pj-vj~1479431)

  - Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: The client was renovating and adding to their existing footprint and wanted a space to relax and entertain guests. The dining room was expanded, a sunroom was added and we dubbed the Men's Study an "Upstairs Man-Cave." This room was intended for the man of the house to unwind in with his TV and wet bar. We gave this client on a tight budget all the fixture and finishes needed to complete this design--all while integrating many of their existing furnishings.
- [Bathroom Redesign-Rustic Glamour](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bathroom-redesign-rustic-glamour-pj-vj~165790)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: For a showhouse in Cold Spring, New York. This bathroom was all about making the most out of the existing condition. The only infrastructure change made was with the light fixture. To go with our "Rustic Glamour" concept we added a charred cork wallpaper backed in a metallic gold; a mural by local artist, Rick Price; a gilt mirror; touches of brass and local artwork throughout.
- [Bedroom Renovation Combining Art and Design](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bedroom-renovation-combining-art-and-design-pj-vj~165717)
  - Location: Cold Spring, NY
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: Entitled "A Treehouse in an Enchnanted Forest," this room was created for the ArtFull Living Designer Showhouse-a project that took place in Cold Spring, NY in 2012. This is an escape, a refuge....a fairy tale turned reality. Goldfish handles adorn an armoire. A lopsided headboard made of tree trunks is tufted in velvet and capped in polished brass. This is a tree house in an enchanted forest for a 7 year old girl. She comes to visit her grandparents. She has a wild imagination and doesn't quite…
- [Townhome Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/townhome-renovation-pj-vj~165798)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 16
  - Description: This project was for two empty-nesters looking to knock down walls and revamp their living space. We helped them conceptualize an open floor plan and kitchen design and when it came to decorating, they put up their feet and left it to us. We were brought in when they were uncertain of what to do after making a large purchase at a furniture store. Our challenge was to get all this fairly traditional furniture to stand up to their ethnic and streamlined taste. They absolutely love coming home ever…

  - Description: This is a project for the company, Dutch's Spirits. Filled with rich history from its Prohibition days under gangster, Dutch Shultz, this project is replete with underground bunkers and escape tunnels. The founders are also staunch advocates of sustainable building processes and supporting the local economy. There are many layers to this project as it folds in retail, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing all while creating an anchor for Pine Plains that we are beyond thrilled to be a part of.…

## Community Q&A

**Q: How is the photo mounted?** *(in Photo Questions)*

It seems like its floating off the wall, how is it mounted?

A: Hi there! I believe I used double sided tape. I don't like to use spray mount b/c it's very toxic.

**Q: Furniture** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please share with me the table and bed manufacturer?

A: They were completely custom made in the Hudson Valley. This was for a show house. The headboard is still available. I'm not sure about the table. Let me know if you're interested in buying it, I can connect you with the Artisan.

**Q: What paint colour is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The paint brand is Benjamin Moore. This was a specialty rag finish with a base coat of Forest Moss (2146-20) and a top coat or wash of Dark Celery (2146-10).

**Q: What is the paint brand and color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi there, sorry for the delay the paint brand is Benjamin Moore. This was a specialty rag finish with a base coat of Forest Moss (2146-20) and a top coat or wash of Dark Celery (2146-10).

**Q: ?tell me** *(in Photo Questions)*

How much money did you spend on this room?!

A: This was for a designer show house. Pretty much all the pieces were donated. I estimate the value at somewhere around 20k. However, almost all the pieces are custom and the artwork, original. So a similar look can definitely be achieved for less.

**Q: Is it for two people?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is it for two people?

A: Sorry for the delay. My mom passed away unexpectedly at the time of your question. This is room enough for 3-4 children, but was only designed for 1. It measures only 4ft x 4ft. It is not meant for sleeping, just daydreaming, reading and quiet time.
