I really lucked out with an excellent local contractor plus Jason as the kitchen designer. I have been buying home items from Amicus for many years and have always been impressed with Jason's knowledge about sustainable issues and products. He brought a lot of great ideas to the project and made the experience VERY smooth with his excellent communication at every step. I absolutely love the final product! Highly recommend!! **★★★★★ — Terry Sitz, Mixed Media Paintings, May 2026** > Finding a DMV company that is truly committed to offering green/enbironmentally safe products and following installation that support those products is difficult. I did my research & only two companies fit the bill--Amicus Green & one other (who promised to get back to me and never did). From the moment I walked into the showroom, Jason was warm and supportive--not at all pushy and had good suggestions on how to proceed with my home project. Mine was not a huge renovation project but the selection and install of a large quantity of carpet. Nonetheless, Jason treated my project with the same attention as if I was working on a major re-do and followed through with my need for samples, manufacturer questions and suggestions. In the end, all the timelines were met and Jason surprised me with being able to negotiate a nice discount from the manufacturer. For those who want to rennovate or build with green, safe selections, Amicus Green is a terrific choice both with know-how and moving things forward in a supportive and timely way. **★★★★★ — HU-901094420, Dec. 2025** > Great experience! From the first visit to the last, Jason has been extraordinarily attentive and patient. We now have a gorgeous, modern, very efficient new kitchen. Our air and conscience are clean with products pre-vetted by Amicus. Because that was going so well, we already did a second project of insulation on which, again, Jason provided product and advice. On both projects, going through Amicus and their preferred partners also saved us money compared to the big stores we would have been getting products from. Amicus will be our first stop for all future projects. **★★★★★ — Claire O'Malley, Oct. 2024** > Jason is well informed about his products and generous in sharing his knowledge about what can work for you and how you might use it. We ordered flooring from him after alot of discussion about the type we might like and how each would work in the space., and providing installers who would be versed in the material and the type of installation. He was responsive to followup questions and helpful in finding finishing details. **★★★★★ — deborahbendavid, Oct. 2024** > You can't go wrong with Amicus Green when it comes to product quality and expertise, while also placing a premium on environmental responsibility. I spent many hours over the course of a couple of years before I was ready to make a decision about installing engineered hardwood in my basement level. Jason is extremely knowledgeable about both product and installation, and he was generous with his time to provide guidance, answer my questions, and address my concerns. It paid off -- we are so happy with the results. The product (Tesoro Woods) is top notch quality, and it looks and feels great underfoot. We will gladly visit Amicus Green for future needs. **★★★★★ — Davina L, Dec. 2023** > I'm so happy that a store like this exists and would never go anywhere else for building materials! > Jason is the best-- he is so knowledgeable and helpful. We bought all of the materials for our home renovations through Amicus, with Jason always taking the time to explain things and help us choose what would work best for us. We truly appreciate his assistance and expertise. **★★★★★ — HU-585615200, March 2023** > Absolute Best Ever! Life-saver, only place I can find all safe, nontoxic products for house. There is nothing better! Had breathing problems for long time, because toxic chemicals in everything, -Until I found Amicus. Was able to paint every room in house, replace flooring, stain a lot of furniture with beautiful safe paint and stain -highest quality. I had so many questions how-to…, -the owner Jason -always has thoughtful answers, suggestions, I learn something every time I’ve talked with him. He’s a well-informed, problem-solver, good listener for what you need, level-headed. He knows what to do, always willing to help with many paint and stain colors I tried, he told me about how lighting in room effects color, or type of wood effects stain, type of brush/roller, different finishes, coverage, etc. He took time also -to guide me when I was pulling up old flooring, he even told me what I will need to clean and paint an old pool. -Every project I was thinking of, he gave insightful information what’s needed. The world needs these healthy materials -so that people and animals can be protected in the places they live. Thank you…Amicus for providing them for everyone. **★★★★★ — Dale Lupu, Dec. 2022** > It has been a pleasure working with Jason at Amicus. His knowledge of green building products and practices has been invaluable to trying to keep our whole house renovation + addition just that much gentler on the earth. He has kept track of myriad details about our purchases and delivery dates in the midst of the supply chain disruptions. His guidance on everything from kitchen cabinets to toilets to flooring to tiles to paint to lights has been so helpful. He gives us good information about when "going green" will add a premium to the cost and how much....but I have been pleasantly surprised at how often he can steer us to products that are both green AND not any more cost. He gives very personalized service, always has time to educate me (a novice at this renovation stuff) and answer many many questions. If you want your building project to leave a little lighter footprint on the planet, go to Amicus!!! **★★★★★ — robzb36, Dec. 2022** > Amicus is such an incredible resource for quality products that are safe for the environment and your family. The owner, Jason, is a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of any home project—large and small. He is incredibly insightful and caring. Jason helped us pick beautiful floors for our home and everyone who comes in raves about them. He has helped us solve many unexpected problems during our construction with patience and wisdom. We are so grateful to work with Jason at Amicus—we have such peace of mind with all his guidance and products. We can’t recommend him enough. **★★★★★ — Margo Hey, Dec. 2021** > We used Amicus Green and Jason for a kitchen renovation. Jason was able to steer us at every step of the process, from concept to finished kitchen. It was extremely helpful to have hands-on guidance and support through all of the steps - especially during a pandemic with supply chain-related delays, etc. The elements Jason suggested were really high-quality and the finished product is beautiful! **★★★★★ — Jodi Jimmy, Sept. 2020** > Our project involved full renovation of kitchen, bathroom, and powder room of a 1912 four-square. We found Amicus Green when looking for vendors of Icestone counters, but were thrilled with their green consciousness overall, their artistic aesthetic, their knowledge of product lines that we might not have known about, and their interest in problem-solving in our quirky old house. We initially decided to order kitchen counters and cabinets from them, but ended up getting backsplash tiles, much of our lighting, sink and fixtures, even reclaimed wood flooring, and used them for many items in our powder room and bathroom. We also let them order lots of items for us because their prices were competitive and they knew vendors. They even sent us to a great appliance salesman. Highlights include the gorgeous backsplash tiles and Icestone. Jason was very always responsive, and was especially helpful in dealing with suppliers under trying conditions of the pandemic. **★★★★★ — Sean L, Jan. 2020** > Jason at Amicus is the best! We were looking to paint our house and re-do flooring with no toxic chemicals and vocs. He has done all the work already, narrowing down the best companies in each category, no matter what you want done in your home, and has so much knowledge on everything green, eco-friendly and nontoxic. I only live 20 minutes away, but had never heard or Amicus - I learned of him through the Degree of Green podcast that focuses on healthy homes. Jason can help with anything you need, from as small as a new faucet to as big as an entire home renovation - minus the formaldehyde! I would recommend Amicus 100% ## Selected projects - [Leeway Heights Traditional Kitchen and Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/leeway-heights-traditional-kitchen-and-bath-pj-vj~1804473) - Location: Arlington, VA - Photos: 4 - Description: A beautiful, classic colonial home remodel from top to bottom.
