We would have never thought of some of the design features she suggested and those items (the floor to ceiling curtains, the rattan chandelier, etc.) are our very favorite things about the room now! ## Community Q&A

**Q: Bathroom Mirror or Mirrors? Lighting?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi there, just wondered what people's opinions
Should I be using one long mirror that goes over both sinks or 2 separate mirrors. Any suggestion for light fixtures? Thanks in advance!

A: Currently we are loving and using often the two mirrors that tilt. Few finish options to pick from. You can find them at PB and shades of light.  Add alittle shiplap behind them and you have a fun space!

**Q: Paint color for New Hampshire ski condo** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I just bought a ski condo, which is typical 1980's split-level style but with surprisingly decent construction quality. I am replacing all carpets and would like advice for wall paint color to replace the yellow/green. I am posting photos of the new carpet as well. The living room is sunken like a conversation pit, and has bamboo floors around it.  We like the natural wood, as it gives a warm "mountain" feel, but want to find a paint color that will complement it without being bold. We are also mounting a TV over the mantle. The kitchen is in good shape and we are keeping the cabinets/countertops, but replacing appliances with GE Slate appliances. Please note that these pictures are BEFORE we removed all the old furniture :)

We recently used this color throughout a town home that has light maple kitchen cabinets paired with  Pietra del Cardosa stone counters.  Palette could work very nicely in your new ski condo and with the carpets you have chosen.

**Q: Pendants or sconce over the sink?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello All,
We have an old home with 2 schoolhouse light fixtures in the kitchen and no lighting over the sink. During the winter it's hard to tell if dishes are getting clean! We're now getting quartz countertops, swapping the beadboard backsplash for tile, swapping this sink for a one-bowl stainless model, and adding lighting over the sink. We can't decide which is better: 2 pendants (maybe clear glass or mercury glass) or one sconce.   
The pantry on the right is going away and will be replaced with countertop and glass-front cabinet. The pot-hanging thing over the stove will be replaced with a nickel-finish one. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

A: You could always get a goose neck light and do it over the the sink.  We just put one in a kitchen above the sink that plays well off the school house lighting that runs down the hall.  They add interest in a room instead of just a plain hanging pendant.

**Q: 'kids sized bathroom'** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Is it a good idea to install small height cabinets, toilet bowl in a new construction, for easier access to kids heights?
Our kids are 3 and 1 and we plan to stay in the house for-ever.

A: I agree with the others, I wouldn't change your entire bathroom to fit your kids right now.  There are plenty of options to be make more kid user that can also be used by other (or as they grow).  Like the hide away step that comes out from the bottom of the bathroom vanity.

**Q: Help! Which backsplash?!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

In the midst of building a house, needing help on which backsplash to choose.

My cabinets are white and my wall color is Versatile grey which you can see on the far left.

My granite is not installed yet, but I provided a picture of it.
