### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Claire, Dec. 2019**

> Grant and Power landscaped our former home almost 20 years ago and maintained the garden meticulously until we built a new house this summer. We have been so pleased with G & Ps design and work that we hired them again to landscape our new home. We are just as pleased with this project. They incorporated all our requests and were able to use the builder’s plantings as well. G &P is creative, reliable and great at listening to their customers. We highly recommend their work.

**★★★★★ — Al LeC, Dec. 2019**

> We hired Grant & Power to do a small patio with landscaping. Gene was a pleasure to work with. We were very happy with the design and workmanship. Grant & Power created a serene and beautiful outdoor space.

**★★★★★ — Dawn Lantero, Aug. 2019**

> We are just completing a major project with Grant & Power. We asked them to replace a retaining wall, add drainage/drain tiles, build two patios, and resurface our front stoop, front walk and driveway. From our design plan with Jan, to the execution supervised by Tyler and performed by the crew, we have been happy every step of the way. Our entire lot has been transformed and our home looks beautiful. The crew was professional, hard working and responsive. They were on time every day and got this big job completed as fast as humanly possible. Hats off to Grant & Power for giving us the yard and hardscaping we had dreamed about for years!

**★★★★★ — kcedison, July 2017**

> Gene Grant was very professional and a pleasure to work with.
> He listened to our comments and designed a plan that aligned with our ideas for our backyard patio and landscaping. The project was started promptly and the communication was excellent during the entire process. Any issues or concerns were addressed and corrected easily. We are very pleased with the outcome of our project.
> We highly recommend Grant and Power Landscaping.

**★★★★★ — Sandi H., June 2017**

> We had Grant and Power Landscaping remove 20 year old landscaping (450 gallon pond and flagstone patio) and replace with a paver patio, new drainage system to divert water away from the house, and flagstone in pathways (reusing the previous patio stone). The process was smooth from design and choosing the materials, to installation. The crew was attentive, professional and did not cut corners. I was pleased at how many bushes and plants could be replanted/ moved, rather than discarded. Would recommend them to everyone!

**★★★★★ — Nick Perrino, April 2017**

> Grant and Power won us over with their honesty and commitment to quality. My wife and I quoted our outdoor project with four different companies. We ended up choosing Grant & Power because we were more confident that they would provide a superior product within the time frame discussed. They definitely met all of our expectations, even though we missed our time frame by a few days.
>
> The delay in time was due to a manufacturer shipping error. I was very impressed with how the Grant & Power Sales team handled the situation as they notified me right away of the error and kept me in the loop as to when it would be fixed. I appreciated them being up front and honest; thus, I will always be a future customer.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Nick for the great review. It is customers like you that make landscaping enjoyable. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

**★★★★★ — Jenne Dehmlow, April 2017**

> There are not enough good words to say about this company. As a social studies department chair in Dupage (first at NNHS and now at DGN), I have worked with Grant & Power on two separate Memorial Peace Garden projects designed to create outdoor garden spaces. The intention is to honor the lives of alumni killed in service to our Country and to provide an educational space to remind current students to work toward peaceful solutions.
> In both of these enormous projects, Grant & Power Landscaping took on our Gardens and DONATED their amazing design team and labor. They worked on their side to secure material donations for all our stonework and plantings. In the two projects they did for Naperville North High School and for Downers North and Downers South High Schools, they easily donated over $100,000 in labor and materials.
> Each year the company works to give back and does philanthropic work that changes lives. How many companies do that with such generosity with nothing expected in return? They understood the vision and worked collaboratively to create Gardens that were meant to not only be seen, but experienced. The messages of honoring our Veterans and working toward peace in our world come through in every single part of what they created.
> In addition to donating their work to our schools, every phone call was returned immediately. All communications were collaborative and professional. The crews that worked for weeks at both high schools were efficient, kind, safe, and extremely dedicated. They took immense pride in their work. They did all of this with no fanfare, completing every single deadline on time during their busiest time of year.
> I have worked in education for over twenty-five years, and the work we did with Grant and Power Landscaping was the most rewarding thing I have ever been a part of as an educator. Today, outdoor spaces that were neglected and abused are now sanctuaries. Students, educators and community members all use these spaces regularly both to teach, to honor those lost, or to enjoy the outdoors and a quiet moment with a friend. I am forever grateful to Grant & Power Landscaping and all they have done (and continue to do) behind the scenes to make our world a more beautiful place.
>
> Search D99 Memorial Peace Gardens on Facebook to see pictures of the work they did for us, or drive by either school to check it out.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Jenne. These projects have meant so much to us and we are glad we could be involved.

**★★★★★ — Chris Esposito, April 2017**

> You could not select a better company to work with, beginning to end of a project, than Grant and Power Landscaping. We worked with them to design and build a large garden last spring. Their design, planning, and implementation were second to none. They checked in with us as we had design changes and were very accommodating to what we needed. When it came time to do the work, the crew was highly professional, hard-working, and outstanding at their craft. The scope of this project was quite large and detailed; Grant and Power had it done in less than a week. There is no question in my mind, if you have a landscaping project you want to look beautiful and you want it done professionally, select Grant and Power.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Chris. It was an honor to work on the project.

**★★★★★ — Nancy Mead, April 2017**

> We moved into a new neighborhood under construction in Geneva and our home had a walkout basement under a large deck. To provide for a shaded patio under the deck and adjacent landscaped seating and garden areas, we secured designs and bids from three very reputable landscape architect firms. We worked directly with Gene Grant who lives in Geneva and liked his design best by far, and it was apparent he listened to what was important to us and incorporated that into the design. Work started on time, was completed efficiently and we are very satisfied. We have referred G&P to three neighbors who we think will select G&P for their yards. Gene has stopped by this spring to remind us he'd like to do a walk through of our garden to address any issues with plantings as they surface for their first Spring in our new garden. We chose the right service provider for our home.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Nancy for the wonderful review and for spreading the word to your neighbors.

**★★★★★ — Terri Roman, March 2017**

> Worked with Gene at Grant & Power on our backyard landscaping and pavers and were so pleased, had him design and complete work in the front of the home. He helped us stay within our budget and the work was done in a timely manner after we approved the design. The workers cleaned up every day and checked in with us to a make sure we were satisfied. There is a human element to this company. Having lost a loved one between jobs, Gene created a memorial tree area in his design at his own cost to honor our daughter. We are forever grateful for this kind and compassionate gesture and it speaks volumes about the kind of company Grant & Power is and their relationship with return clients.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Terri. It was great working with you on your project.

**★★★★★ — Michael Fazzio, March 2017**

> We used Grant & Power for our entire outside design. Very accommodating and always willing to come to you. With two kids at home this was great. Gene is very upfront and honest and nothing is a surprise. If your over budget he will work with you to change the plan to still have a great design yet at your budget. You get what you pay for (budget was $75,000). Would recommend for sure.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Michael for the kind words. Nothing beats a happy customer.

**★★★★★ — Daniel Smith, March 2017**

> We had our entire front yard re landscaped in the summer of 16. Gene and his team did an incredible job. From the initial design to the final product, I am extremely happy with the communication and professionalism of Grant and Power. I highly recommend.

**Comment from Grant and Power Landscaping:**

> Thank you Daniel for your kind words. One of the best parts about this job is making customers like you happy.

  - Location: St. Charles, IL

  - Description: Upon retirement, the owners of this wonderful property decided that the landscaping was in need of revamping to meet their changing lifestyle. They had two main goals. First, create an easier transition from the driveway to the front door. Second, create an outdoor living space in back with several distinct ‘rooms’ large enough to entertain their many friends and family. The main challenges were associated with the rolling terrain of the property and working around many mature trees. For example…

  - Description: When they acquired this exceptional property, the homeowners knew the landscape would require a complete renovation to match their family’s needs and to better reflect their lifestyle. The existing pool needed complete refurbishing and the paver patio was awkwardly situated and falling apart. A large open area underneath the deck was dark, dirty and unusable. The front landscape was unorganized and outdated, not providing the welcoming setting the home deserves. Their wishes included enlarging t…

  - Description: The client was not satisfied by the patio and grill surround installed by their builder, so they asked us to create an environment better suited to their family and social activities. Several ‘rooms’ were designed with this in mind. A large outdoor kitchen and bar seamlessly interact with a living room containing a fireplace and outdoor television, and a separate dining area for more intimate gatherings. The attached sport court is primarily for the kids, but can be used for extra entertaining s…

  - Description: At the start of this project, the Elsons envisioned a home retreat. The entire property was transformed from a vacant lot into multiple, functional, entertaining areas that became an extension of their home. A beautiful water feature was designed as a focal point that would intertwine with multiple gathering spaces and aide in moving excess water away from the house. Plantings add seasonal color while softening and separating the hardscapes yet help tie the overall area together. New challenges…

  - Description: After purchasing the adjoining lot, these homeowners wanted to unify the property through a new landscape. Initially hiring a garden designer, a plan was designed to connect the garden spaces. Once we made revisions to the original plan, we were contracted to do the installation. In addition to the plantings, drainage issues were addressed with PVC pipes and a dry creek bed. Following the installation, the homeowners were so pleased with the outcome they hired us for all future projects. The nex…

  - Description: This new construction home required a full landscape plan to be implemented. The large driveway was accented with brick banding, a brick inset and columns to help designate the front entrance. Bluestone paving and limestone veneer walls compliment the facade of the house. A large outcropping retaining wall along the side of the property enhances the natural setting and maintains the slope. In the back yard, multiple levels of entertaining areas can be enjoyed in all seasons. A sunken fire pit ar…

  - Location: Wayne, IL
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: Although the original design of this Wayne property was installed years ago, this job has never been “finished”. A great landscape is always evolving to meet the changing needs of the client. The client wanted a newly designed patio to be an extension of their unique, modern home. Other priorities for this phase of work included the addition of a separate patio with a fire pit, screening the pool area from the main patio and adding layers to the mature landscape. Extending a turn around area on…

  - Description: After this Wheaton homeowner had their entire landscape installed, it was clear that a professional maintenance service would be needed to keep it looking great. The homeowner wanted their landscape to be maintained neat and tidy, without shearing all the shrubs. Educating the customer on proper pruning and maintenance techniques has been the key to keeping the property looking spectacular while still satisfying the homeowner. A new front entry would be surrounded by plantings that were designed specifically to be manicured, but softened with splashes of color to maintain the cottage feel of the home. A brick walk connects the driveway to the back yard and wanders through an enclosed area used as a dog run for the homeowner’s large dogs. The entertaining spaces located in the b…

A: That is Umbriano by Unilock. If you live in the Chicago area, we would love to come out and provide a free consultation on your project. Give us a call at 630.231.0069

**Q: Thanks for ur quick response** *(in Photo Questions)*

One more question please. What are the bushes planted in front of the far 3 pane window? Thanks.

A: 99% sure it's Miss Kim Lilac.

**Q: Beautiful landscaping** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can u please tell me the name of the light green plant that is in front of the Japanese maple? Thanks.

A: That is Lady's Mantle

A: That is Unilock Umbriano in Winter Marvel.

**Q: Four turf applications, how are the weeds supressed?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It is our goal to limit the amount of herbicide used. There are many cultural practices which will limit weed introduction. The overall key to accomplishing this is to maintain healthy and vigorous turf growth. This will lead to a thicker lawn and allow less space for weeds to take root. Consistent and effective fertilization is a vital part of any turf program and will greatly help in reaching this goal.

**Q: Great furniture, where can I purchase?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Unfortunately we do not have an answer for you. The furniture was purchased by the homeowner.
