On top of all the functional elements, our brief to C2 was to give the generic suburban look of our home a more sophisticated, contemporary feel, while ensuring maintenance needs and costs were minimal and doable by ourselves, thanks to a fully automated concealed irrigation system. We also asked for all flowering plants to be white to match our home. In order to help sell one of the homes, I needed a vision for the roof terrace, which was barren and desolate. Jane and Scott not only designed an incredibly beautiful and sustainable outdoor space, but they also provided stunning photo-realistic images of the design to excite the imagination of potential buyers. In fact, these images turned out to be instrumental to the eventual sale of that home. > > Not long after this experience, I worked with C2 on a more personal level. I purchased a Victorian home built in 1860, one of three on my street, all side by side and each with its own unique character. I did extensive work on the interior of my home to make it open and minimal, and it now looks like a beautiful art gallery with Italian furniture and a collection of contemporary and African Art. With creamy walls and understated furniture, it's very soothing to me. But when it came to my back yard, what existed was a hodge podge of bushes and trees placed around a small roundish bluestone patio off the kitchen, which I had no idea how to improve UNTIL I hired Jane and Scott. I told them I wanted privacy from my neighbors on one side that was open and exposed and a more contemporary feel to the space. No aspect of the remodeling of my home’s interior was as exciting as what they came up with for my garden area. They understood my aesthetic immediately, gave me a choice of 3 different plans, then a planting schedule for the front and back of my home. As a border around perimeter of the back yard, they planted 18 Hornbeam trees, which give me the privacy I wanted and a look of sophistication. They made all aspects of the work easy to implement and were as excited as I was about the project. I now have an outdoor space that is contemporary and well-ordered like my home, artistically filled with texture and color, so very peaceful and stunning. It typically grows 6" to 9" in height and flops over, creating rolling, tufted mounds of green. It can be slow-growing, but makes a great groundcover once it fills in. **Q: What is the fence made of?
