Cameron is owner, Jeff is the guy that get's everything done. I generally liked the character of both. Jeff is amazing at his craft, incredibly knowledgable and hard working. If I needed anything I went direct to Jeff as he had more answers and direction on the day-to-day. We love the final product but were consistently disappointed with timelines and overall management. Jeff did the best he could as it's really just a 1 man operation when it comes to actual build out. By the time permits were in hand we were put into a very busy schedule of theirs. All good, Cameron articulated as much. They made best efforts juggling us between other projects. However, Cameron missed a major timeline to order the railing material. Jeff pushed me to get Cameron to confirm delivery as he was waiting for railing. When Cameron followed up with supplier at my request, he learned the order wasn't properly placed and they were given a 5-6 week timeline from that point for delivery which was unacceptable. Cam and Jeff got creative and were able to take on much of the work themselves to move that up which I appreciated. But once we were ready to get it installed it was delay after delay, no commitment on completion, and I unfortunately had to turn into the pestering client to get it done. They finally did and product is great. Then a month later we received a Mechanics Lien on our house because they did not pay Ganahl Lumber for materials, but they had cashed all of our checks. We immediately made OC Deck aware of this. I emailed, called, and texted and no immediate reply. So I went to their office and was told by the receptionist they paid it that day. After my visit Cam responded to my text that it was resolved. Sorry can't help you on that **Q: Skirt** *(in Photo Questions)* Great looking deck! What brand of lattice you are using on the skirt? Blends well with the deck. A: It's redwood lattice from Home Depot, solid stained to match the decking color. Most cost effective way to close out the underside of the deck. Will have vines growing over to cover the lattice in time. Thanks for the question! **Q: What is the deck material? Thank you.** *(in Photo Questions)* We have Brazilian cherry floors in our living room, and I am trying to select a compatible material for the adjacent deck. I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks. A: The decking is Ipe, a Brazilian hardwood. The color would go great with Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba). It is very useful for outdoor decking as it has termite/rot resistant properties and extremely dense (2x that of oak, 30% harder than Brazilian Cherry). Left untreated, it would weather to a silver/gray and last 25+ years. We recommend keeping up with the simple maintenance of oiling every 9-12 months to keep the rich color and extend the life to 75+ years.
