Our Company received the last payment from Mr. Mancuso on 02/04/2013 and as per contract he had until 02/04/2014 to make necessary punch lists for our company to manage at no cost. Mr. Mancuso contacted Fresh FKB this past December 2015 in which at that point it had been 2 years and 10 months that had gone by. To address the client’s substandard personal opinion, we can assure every product we offer to our clients is fully examined through research of the manufacturer’s credentials and substantial reviews that reflects vast quality. Like the electrician that executed the electrical in the remodel they are all licensed and are compelled to perform the scope of work to all required mandatory standards and carefully inspected by project manager before completion. > The person who attended Mr. Mancuso over the phone on December had worked with him through the remodel. It was explained that sometimes certain products may have a defect and malfunction sooner than expected but as unfortunate as it is there is no way for us to know until it happens. To resolve the issue, as we do with every single client that contacts our company after the year warranty, we offered to send our electrician to perform the job for a small visit fee of $79 and the cost of a new transformer for $110.50, totaling $189.50. Mr. Mancuso quickly answered that he was not willing to pay that amount of money and that he would rather resolve the issue by himself and rudely hung up the phone on the person that was trying to solve the matter. > Since that call we hadn’t heard from Mr. Mancuso until he took the time to file two complaints through BBB and Houzz.com. We've never done a renovation like this so we don't know if that's excessive or not. However, we are very pleased with the outcome. First, the crew removed all the cabinets and put the appliances (we had access to the refrigerator and microwave throughout) aside so the electricians could update the electrics and install the lighting. After that, work on the hood commenced. Then the cabinets were put up and the counter tops installed. The backsplash came next and the under the counter lighting. Not long after that came two separate inspections by the city and then we were done. Thankfully, they found no surprises so the amount we paid matched the estimate exactly. There were several weeks of no activity. The oven hood delivery was delayed and scheduling the inspectors was apparently an issue. We got several other estimates from contractors we found on Angie's List and discussed the process with friends and acquaintances and they all told us that there are a lot of renovations going on and that patience would be required. Our patience was rewarded. We are currently under construction with a builder. We still need to choose a countertop and backsplash. The few things we have to consider is that we have white cabinets and a cooler toned walnut floor. I know I want a warm quartzite (think Taj Mahal/open to other options). The backsplash cannot be the same quartzite. Backsplash can only come from marazzi or Daltile as the manufacturer. I’ll post a few options, but I’m open to change! Give me your design ideas! Happy designing! **Q: What color to paint shaker accent wall?** *(in Paint)* We just bought a house and have not moved in yet (photo is from previous owners). We already know we want to paint the accent wall - even though it is actual oak. Our colors are much cooler than this picture. Walls will be light and neutral - perhaps BM Paper White - trim Super White and I would love to incorporate a deeper blue/gray on just the french doors (not the trim around them) as well as the backs of the bookshelves of accent wall. Our dilemma is what in the world do we do with the accent wall? We would love to have it recede a bit - or at least not overwhelm the aesthetic of the room. We really want to avoid making the room feel dark, but I also don't know how I feel about painting it white. Don't want it to seem stark. I would love any and all feedback on the overall room, but especially the accent wall. Thank you! p.s. - I should add that we are planning on having some reclaimed wood beam work done on the pitched ceiling and that will lend a rustic, natural dark wood feel. A: To make the oak accent wall recede without overwhelming the room, consider using a light neutral paint like BM Classic Gray instead of stark white. This will complement your cooler palette and add depth. Alternatively, a whitewash technique can soften the oak while allowing its texture to show through, harmonizing with your planned reclaimed wood beams on the ceiling. **Q: Under the kitchen sink cabinet odor** *(in Plumbing)* We have a faint but funky odor coming from below the kitchen sink that is getting worse over time since the kitchen remodeling and as the weather gets warmer. We have been trying to find the source of it. I don't think it is exactly a sewer gas smell, but more like some form of food gone bad. Strangely, it is a smell that we have also been getting inside our dishwasher, which is the weird part. During the remodeling, an outlet was relocated from one side of a stud to the other side. The kitchen plumbing drain was planned to be moved by a few inches, but it was not. The water drain from sink works fine and there are no visible water leaks from what I can tell. I'm not sure where the odor is coming from, so I want to understand if this is something that I should call a plumber or the general contractor about, and have two questions: Q1. Is height difference between garbage disposal's outlet and drain pipe sufficient enough to push water out without backpressure when dishwasher is draining? Q2. Any chance the smell could be coming from behind? A: Q1. If the outlet from the garbage disposal is lower than or too close to the drain pipe's entry point, it can cause backpressure, which might result in water or food particles not draining properly and leading to odors. Ensuring a proper P-trap installation can also prevent sewer gases from entering the kitchen. Q2. Could cotton-like materials near the outlet or behind the outlet accumulate some smell? Cotton-like materials or any form of insulation near or behind outlets can indeed trap moisture and organic matter, leading to mold or mildew growth, which can produce foul odors.
