## Community Q&A

**Q: Board and batten on wall?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all,

We're going to be taking the awkward coat closet in front of our door (see below) and opening it up into a bench and hooks (see inspiration pic below). However instead of Shiplap we will do board and batten the whole way around that entry vestibule. (Note we are refinishing our roundtop front door. Hence the plywood!)

My question: Should we continue the board and batten to the wall next to the front door? I'm planning on doing board and batten three quarters of the way up the entire entry vestibule (all walls in that nook). Now I'm thinking this wall outside the vestibule (with key and Mail thing) might look good with it as well. Note: it's no where else in the house.

A: Yes, B&B throughout the entire entry area would look best!

**Q: To crown mold or not to crown mold... that is the question :)** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am building a home with a farmhouse theme. Clawfoot tubs, wood counters, soft light wall colors, medium wood floors, barn doors, 5 panel doors. 7 acres of land. You get the pic. Should I do crown molding or not? I like simple things. If I do crown mold, what are your thoughts on these 2 designs?

A: Definitely Crown. My choice is the 2nd photo. The first photo gives a more basic rustic farmhouse look which is fine if that’s what you like, whereas the 2nd photo is more modern and elegant with the clean simple lines.
