**Q: Need window covering ideas for different sized windows** *(in Windows)*

I am redecorating this room and I’m wondering what window covering might look best. I would love long panels on the big window but then what would I do with the shorter window?
Thanks for any advice!

A: Floor to (almost) ceiling panels on the longer window. Because of the step, I'd use a valance or roman shades using same material as the drapes on the shorter window.

**Q: kitchen window seat window treatment help** *(in Home Decorating)*

Ideas for window treatment for this window seat in my kitchen. I’m considering curtains or a linen Roman shade. Really want to let a lot of light in but also need the option of privacy.

A: Depends on the depth of the window and whether or not you want to see any of the trim surround the window when the shade is down. You might be able to do 2 smaller shades inside the window casing or just one large shades mounted flush at the top of the trim.

And depending on what fabric you select, you could also have a seat cushion made from the same fabric (or at least a coordinating color)

**Q: window sheets and privacy** *(in Home Decorating)*

We live in a fish bowl and I’m looking for window covering that will give privacy.  We have European windows and pretty much can’t do blinds.  Was wondering if we do sheets with a thick white fabric if it will give some sort of privacy at night.  I would not expect total privacy with such a material but would it be possible that people on the street would just see shadows moving around?  Or should we just do curtains?  I like idea that with sheers we would not need to open and close them daily and the price is better.  With curtains we would have full privacy and ability to block out light during day which helps with watching something on our projector but we don’t really do much watching during the day.   We have a bit of Scandinavian style home with MCM furniture so there is a lot of white in the place already and white sheets would go well but so might curtains with some colours.  But I need some privacy because now I feel like I’m sitting in the middle of a public place when at home at night

A: Speaking as a window treatment professional...  You could mount roman shades above the window and lower them when the windows are closed and you need privacy and raise them when you want to open the windows.

Otherwise, definitely look into functional / traverse curtain rods with either sheers or blackout panels. OR you could do a double rod and have sheers on the back and blackout panels in front.

**Q: Best window treatment** *(in Home Decorating)*

What would be the best shade treatment for this large window? We have regular blinds for the two smaller windows but not sure what to install on the larger three windows at the back of the room. I would like shades that also open top down. Or would curtains work? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

A: Curtains will be difficult with the slope of the ceiling, however, Roman shades would look nice.

You could also do blinds to match your other windows and add a simple decorative fabric valance across the top of the window.

**Q: Blinds on a bay window** *(in Windows)*

I have a kitchen bay window that I would like to put “top, bottom down” blinds on. I would like to do the windows individually, however, I’m not sure on the placement as there are so many “ridges”, for lack of a better word. Any help, even with drawing on my pics, would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

A: Your thought that the ridges (I don't know the correct term either) will cause a problem is correct. So will the window locks on the side and the crank handles that I assume you have at the bottom (not shown).

You "might" be able to mount the shade to the "ceiling" portion in front of the window but it will take some precise measuring by someone familiar with the dimensions of the shade headrail.

Not sure where you are located, but I would reach out to a local window treatment dealer in your town (instead of trying to buy them online).

**Q: Drapery length inquiry.** *(in Home Decorating)*

My son has just installed 2 closets and a window bench seat in my new bedroom. Question is, as the drapery for the window seat, which will have a 5" cushion on it will end at the window ledge...do I make the other windows dressing the same or carry it to the floor?
