> I had the pleasure of working with Roseann a number of years ago. Then when I downsized in 2013 , I contacted Roseann again for my project including a living room and dining room and 1/2 bath. She is extremely experienced, talented, and creative. Her workmanship is excellent. Roseann is most knowledgable about fabrics , design and even does the installation. She takes the time to listen to her clients, their needs and tastes and provides expert guidance and advice. Her pricing is fair and reasonable. I am so thrilled with my window treatments. Roseann is terrific to work with; a great experience and I whole heartedly recommend her!

> Roseann is a master craftsman when it comes to transforming your windows and, in turn, the entire feeling of a room. She transformed our house with her perfectly constructed drapes. She took extra care to coordinate and advise us on fabric choices and designs. The drapes sold our house in a day. She is totally professional and reliable.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Cheap Kitchen Redesign** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are purchasing a new home and will be left with little funds for a major kitchen renovation. Can you weigh in on some low cost fixes? We don't want to do anything too major, as we do hope to do a major reno down the line. I was thinking butcher block counters and beadboard wallpaper for the backslash. What do you think? And of course changing the hardware on the cabinets. What can we do to make the freestanding oven look less out of place?

A: I would think about changing the flooring, maybe the inexpensive sticky tiles? They would update and brighten up the space. I also like the idea of moving the stove to the corner and installing a cabinet beside the stove. Your dishwasher black panel could be white on the back side? I like your ideas of wallpaper, changing hardware and butcher block counter. A new faucet would would be nice and maybe changing out the light fixture. Good luck and congratulations on your new home.

**Q: POLL: Dreamy Custom Closets** *(in Polls)*

Do you dream of a large well-organized closet?

VOTE for what item you want to customize your closet for and POST A COMMENT ABOUT YOUR OWN CLOSET CHALLENGES to be entered to win a pair of Houzz slippers sent right to your door!

\*One entry per person, per drawing. Entries must be posted before 12:00am Pacific Time 8/28/13. One winner will be drawn at random.

A: I would love a walk in closet that doubles as a dressing room!

**Q: Which Ensuite & Walk-in Closet Layout is best of the five?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Would it be annoying to have your walk-in closet on the other side of the ensuite or more convenient?

A: I would prefer F. I would not like to have to walk through the bathroom to access my closet.

**Q: Window treatment ideas** *(in Design Dilemma)*

So just put in honeycomb blinds in dining and living room of all open concept kitchen, living, dining. What now??? Drapes? Just Cornice? Can I leave as is ? Do I carry the fabric from my kitchen valance? How does it look finished?

A: Consider moving the sink valance up to ceiling height and adding a contrast fabric/trim to the bottom of the valance to add interest/another color. Then have panels (on a rod, mounted to the crown) to the floor in the same fabric as valance with the contrast fabric/trim on the lead edge or duplicate the same valance at the table windows.

**Q: relaxed vs standard Roman shades for kitchen?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

just moved into new house and i hate the current fabric on the kitchen roman shades (first picture). i purchased the fabric shown in 2nd picture. should i do a standard Roman shade (like what's already there) or relaxed Roman shade, as in the 2 inspiration pix? The fabric I'm using has a fairly large scale print. Please advise!

A: I think the relaxed roman shade will show off the new fabric pattern better than a structured roman shade. Nice choice of color and pattern.

**Q: Draperies with vertical blinds?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are relocating from the Midwest to AZ. The new home has vertical blinds in all of the windows. They are all mounted on the outside of the window rather than recessed into the window. Can anyone give me ideas as to what to do to dress up the windows? Can you add draperies with blinds? This is an 8 foot window. Blinds go to the floor. There is not a lot of wall space on either side of the window. We definitely need privacy as you can see the home directly across the street.

A: You can of course add draperies over the vertical blinds. I personally don't like them. If privacy is a concern (especially at night) you could have panels on a rod that could be closed in the evening or have a shade behind stationary panels.
