A: Hi, fun start (I get it) since both the chairs and sofa are bold statements I'd keep the coffee table streamlined and understated. A clear acrylic could be fun or a plain rectangular white lacquered piece. Steer clear from wood with the heavy wood detail on the sofa. I no longer have the exact specs of this flooring as the project dates a few years back. However I do recall that it was a European white oak in a bleached finish in a 6"plank. It was an engineered product and looked very lovely installed. Good luck with your project! Daniela **Q: Confusion regarding Delta Shower Faucet Valve and Trim Kits?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Delta has a lot of nice stuff but they make it a bit confusing to know exactly what you need to purchase when setting up a Shower. They offer a lot of different of Shower Faucets such as Tub and Shower Combination Faucets, Shower only Faucets, Shower Handle Controls, and Shower Systems. However it's a bit confusing to make sure you purchase EVERYTHING you need to get yours up and running. Here's a super thorough guide explaining How to Build your Delta Shower from the component pieces - Rough-in Valve and Trim Kit. It explains the difference between the Delta Monitor series 13 14 and 17 cartridges and also explains about the Tempassure 17T series cartridge. Check it out! http://faucetlist.com/blog/Delta-Shower-Faucets.html A: With this being a universal valve you can use almost any of their trim kits including single (just a showerhead) double (showerhead and separate slidebar head for example) and thermostatic works also. you could look at their trinsic line for example and most of the shower kits / trim kits you would find are compatible with this valve. thats the beauty of this line!! what trim kit are you wanting to use!? chances are itll work with your valve… **Q: Hiding a door in teen girls bedroom** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi! I'm a sixteen year old girl and will soon be moving into a new bedroom. There is an unused closet in the room and unfortunately, because the room is pretty small, the only place I can put my bed is next to it. . Does anyone have an idea of how i can disguise the door (ie a mirror or curtains or how i position my bed)???? i don't need to access the door for now. Oh, and My bed is a queen but the one in the picture is a twin. Thanks! A: Hi, cute room! why dont you paint that entire wall including baseboard, door trims and door in a fun accent colour? that will be a step towards hiding the door. then place small dresser in front of the door with a mirror leaning or hanging over it, some hooks on the wall to the right of it for jewlery, scarves etc. Add a big tray on top of the dresser and a lamp on the left side for reading light. run a fun patterned runner rug beside the bed towards the dresser that will draw your eye into this "dressing area". Then add punchy artwork over your bed. These should be steps that you can affordibly achieve....check your local buy and sell for cheap pieces you can repurpose. Hope that helps!! **Q: dining and living area !!!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* hi guys i have this prob i have an open space for living area and the kitchen is open to that area through a bar a designer gave me an idea to have a dining table and 2 living rooms but i just hate it. i don't like the tv area as you can see in the corner i hope someone could help we like open space and modern style we appreciate your help guys!!!!! A: carolins, definately not looking to pick on anyone or disagree with your opinions after all this is all just mostly that...opinions. I am referring to the layout not the individual piece. In my humble OPINION placing 2 identical pieces of furniture side by side on angle can read contrived. A single statement piece "tossed" into the space as a stand alone can definately read modern...agreed. **Q: Bookshelves/ bricks: paint, remove??? Need Opinions!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello, my husband and I are doing projects around the house to make our home more to our taste. We want to save for a large future renovation! We need opinions on our living room bookshelves and wood stove hearth which need to stay for the next 3-4 years. I want to paint the brick a charcoal and then want to either paint the bookshelves a lighter grey or white and do a contemporary stencil on the back of each shelf. The other idea I have is to just rip off the bookshelves themselves, leave the bottom with the doors and paint it, put more contemporary hardware, then put some floating shelves where the old ones were, and beef up the mantle around the brick. Ideas??? Please and thank you! Danielle A: Hi there! you are lucky to have decent bookshelves to "play" with - don't tear them out!! I agree with the above comment to paint white! I dont even think you need to add extra mouldings these will look nice and contemporary with white paint and new hardware, you could do extra long bar type pulls using the existing drill hole on top and drilling another hole near the bottom of doors. When bulking up the mantle make sure you add the bulk to the bottom of the existing mantle so its covering the brick so the mantle doesnt end up even higher than it is now. If you are worried about tying in with the existing woodwork simply keep the mantle in the stained wood colour but paint the shelves and brick white. Also great idea to add baskets on top...keep these in same tone as your wood work and it will further give you another element that ties into all the other woodwork in the room. Althouth the stencil is a fun idea it may be wasted time as it may get lost when you dress the shelves! I prefer a solid accent paint for the backs and then staging the shelves in a way that really pops! If you like I can send you some visuals of similar shelves in white that I've done and with the right accessories even basic shelves like this can look amazing!!!
