After we purchased our lot in Compass Pointe, we knew we had the arduous task of choosing a builder among the many fine home builders that were available at CP. After much research and many visits to various models, we confidently chose Hagood as the builder of our retirement home. The reasons were many, from standards like 10' ceilings, foam insulation, custom moulding throughout and home plans that included a finished 2nd floor with a roomy deck, to the outstanding team that we worked with throughout the project. Our journey started with Josh Adams who went out of his way to help us select the perfect home. Josh took great care to listen to what we wanted in our home and led us to the Harbour Towne III model at St James. We knew we had found the perfect plan for our home. Our next experience with Hagood was a 3-day selection process where we chose all of the finishes for our home. It was an exhausting task but Hagood made it a well-organized and pleasant experience. Once the building began, we can honestly say that it was smooth sailing to the end. Our project managers, Dustin and James, along with the construction manager, Will, helped make our home a reality. Heartless refusal to reschedule a selection meeting caused by medical emergency led to a four-month delay in starting the project. We were lied to about the trees left on the property - Hagood claimed they took down as many as the POA permitted, leaving 19 - we found out that the POA asked for 5 to be protected. Cost us $2,000 to remove trees they could have done while clearing the lot. The house was filthy the day we moved in, we had to clean it ourselves to permit our furniture to be moved in. We pointed out that our kitchen counter was too small during the install. It was only replaced after we moved in. The installers filled our house with granite dust while cutting out the stovetop opening. Out stairs to the FROG were sealed three times, the finish is still not right but we gave up because we could not face a house full of sawdust and odor for the third time. They installed two shower/bath control valves on outside walls which means that when they have to be replaced the tile wall will have to be opened.
