> We bought a new home knowing we were going to do some work to update the basement. We decided to meet with Rob and Lisa because of their impeccable reputation. Our basement is now completely done with heavy traffic from our five kids and endless stream of neighbors. Without hesitation, Rob and Lisa far exceeded even their good name. They were creative from the onset of the project helping us dream and decide what would be the best use of space. They were thorough in their bidding process and clear about the timeline. They communicated with us through every decision; staying very patient when we made changes. They hired quality contractors. They were on time. They were absolutely meticulous with every single detail. They were helpful with things outside of their responsibility. They were kind and honest and fun to work with. I would highly recommend them for any job. We LOVE our new basement and by the looks of it most days with video game remotes, bean bags, and empty wrappers - so do our kids!

> Dreams 2 Reality designed and executed our kitchen remodel, including an addition to the original space. The project ran on schedule and Rob and Lisa Rubsam provided great guidance and direction throughout the process. We are thrilled with the result and appreciated their attention to detail when it came to making sure every sub-contractor met their high standards. We highly recommend this hands-on team!

> My experience with Rob and Lisa was very positive and I couldn’t be happier with my home. They totally transformed my kitchen/dining area, updated 3 bathrooms and the laundry cabinet, changed the flooring in the family room and replaced the roof. No more popcorn ceiling!
> In the kitchen a wall was removed, and structural beam installed to vault the kitchen ceiling to match the adjacent area. They installed cabinets, granite, sink, lighting, flooring, added an island and a pantry. A window seat with storage and a lighted shelf were also added. It is bright, open and very functional for my active family. The flooring in the lower level was changed to match the kitchen.
> I asked Rob about a pull out storage cabinet for each full bath and they turned out great. Removing soffits made the baths seem much larger.
> He adapted my laundry closet for a stacked washer/dryer and installed new doors and shelving.
> The project was managed closely from the timeline and budget perspective. Even adding additional flooring replacement did not through them off. The tiler was behind due to another job, but Rob was able to keep the job on track and finished at the projected date. Communication was easy with both Rob and Lisa. They were respectful, professional and easy to work with. Rob is detail-oriented and doesn’t miss a thing.

> We had and continue to have the great pleasure of working with Dreams 2 Reality owners Rob and Lisa Rubsam. In 2011 we purchased a very out dated 3,0000 square foot 1980's executive ranch. Rob and Lisa have been with us every step of the way helping us turn our great buy into the home of our dreams.
> To date we have completely gutted and remodeled our:
> •Kitchen, Family Room, Sun Room, Two Bedrooms, Laundry Room, Hall Bathroom, Powder Room, & Hall.
> In the next 1-2 years we plan on completing our home by completing the following projects:
> •Refresh / remodel of our basement into the ultimate hang out rec room for our two sons and their friends.
> •Completely gut and remodel our master suite
> •Remodel our deck
> •Refresh our garage with new garage doors and custom organization
> In our opinion Dreams 2 Reality offers a differentiated business model in the remodeling and construction business. The three things that differentiate them are:
> 1\. Expertise
> •Both Rob and Lisa bring years of experience to the table managing projects from commercial buildings to small remodels. Rob brings years of constructions experience to the table along with an amazing eye for detail and Lisa is an architect with a keen sense for simple, elegant, effective design.
> 2\. Customer Focus
> •Rob and Lisa were very transparent that the consultation and design phase will take longer with them than other companies. Their goal was to insure when we started that actual construction phase we didn’t find ourselves saying things like “we wish we would have” or “if we knew”. Rob and Lisa helped us take our list of wants & needs and prioritize it and align it with our time frame and budget to deliver the home of our dreams.
> 3\. Their Humility
> •Rob and Lisa understand that this process can be very intimidating if you don’t have a construction background. They were very focused on insuring we were comfortable asking clarifying questions to help build our knowledge. In turn, this made sure we were comfortable with all the decision we were making. Also, if you have the chance to visit with any of the tradesmen they work with I would highly recommend it. The folks that Rob and Lisa use to help complete their projects speak very highly of Rob and Lisa’s morals and ethics. Often the tradesmen would tell us how fortunate we were to work with Dream’s 2 Reality and that there isn’t anybody better. That’s a huge endorsement as tradesmen work with multiple companies within the industry and they don’t just through compliments out to everyone.
> Rob and Lisa have helped us take our very outdated, chopped up floor plan and remodel it into an open floor plan that is customized & up to date.
> They truly have taken our dream and turned it into a reality. We now have a home we all love coming home to every night.

**★★★★★ — gernant, July 2013**

> Dreams2Reality is exactly that! They were always positive, helpful, courteous and professional. They took our thoughts and ideas and kept within our budget to make it a reality. We would definitely use them again!
>
> Dreams2Reality transformed an outdated look and made it new and modern. Per Lisa's architectural design, Rob tore out an old, outdated, dual-sided fireplace and transformed it into a modern look on the living room side and kept a more casual, country style look in the kitchen. It required removing and replacing not only the fireplace unit itself, but tearing off tile and mantle on the living room side and replacing it with newly formed drywall and framing (since the new fireplace unit we picked was narrower than the original unit).
>
> On the kitchen side, Dreams2Reality was able to keep the existing wood cabinetry and mantle in tact while replacing the tiling all around and keeping the fireplace framing as formed.
>
> Rob also tore out all the carpeting in the living room, dining room, and up the stairway, and hired a professional painter to repaint all the walls, ceiling, doors, trim work, and stairway. Lisa was very helpful and patient in paint color and tile selection.
>
> We wavered and were indecisive most of the time, yet Dreams2Reality maintained good communication with other professionals and businesses, keeping their head and showing patience all through the process! They were always mindful of what we wanted and made excellent suggestions, keeping all of it within our budget.
>
> We look forward to working with them again in the near future, hopefully, as we complete the remodel work in our kitchen. We would definitely recommend Dreams2Reality for all types of architectural design and remodeling work as they are a great small business that cares about their clients' needs and desires.
>
> PS I have more photos of all the rooms and stairway, but these are the before and after photos of the fireplace itself.

> We were so pleased with Rob and Lisa Rubsom's work. They give careful attention to detail and really take the time to plan a project- from the technical drawings, to the timeline to the budget. They do an amazing job with organization and daily communication with their client. We really felt that our project was a priority for them. Our remodeled space exceeded our expectations!

- [West Des Moines Kitchen Renovation & Addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-des-moines-kitchen-renovation-and-addition-pj-vj~647599)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: The addition of a Breakfast Area allowed this Kitchen to grow to serve this family of 5. One of the goals of this project was to provide a space where everyone could meet and be together while the food preparation was happening. There is ample counter space for homework, buffet serving and food preparation.
- [Clive Basement Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/clive-basement-renovation-pj-vj~781110)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: The goal was to create a fun place for kids to hang out. The requirements were a TV area, bar and a place for toys. The custom plank wall adds drama to the room, especially since you enter "through" it. There is a hidden door to the play room and plenty of hard surface for a dance party.
- [West Des Moines Marble Baths](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-des-moines-marble-baths-pj-vj~460394)
  - Location: West Des Moines, IA
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: The owner wanted to update the look of a master bath and a guest bath. The garden tub in the master bath was removed and replaced with a tile shower.
- [Cumming, IA House Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cumming-ia-house-renovation-pj-vj~431795)
  - Location: Cumming, IA
  - Photos: 20
  - Description: This house had a lot of potential but it was missing a visual entrance for guests to enter. To solve the problem, the Dining Room was transformed into the front entry. The Main Living area was small and cut off from views to the lake by an unfortunate porch addition by a previous owner. The porch was removed and the Family Room was expanded to take advantage of the lake views.
- [Ames, IA Whole House Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ames-ia-whole-house-renovation-pj-vj~431786)
  - Location: Ames, IA
  - Photos: 16
  - Description: Removing the bearing wall in the middle of this space required a crane, a large steel beam and a hole in the roof to move the beam into position. Once the beam was installed, the Family Room was vaulted and a fireplace was added on the opposite wall. The custom walnut cabinets and the Alaskan White granite give the space a warm yet contemporary feel.
- [Ankeny Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ankeny-kitchen-pj-vj~647608)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This space used to be a living room and a kitchen. Both spaces felt small with the wall separating the 2 spaces. The kitchen had a flat ceiling and the living room had a sloped ceiling that made the living room feel a bit uncomfortable proportionally. The wall was taken down and a beam was put into place to support the roof. The entire space in now vaulted and includes the kitchen and dining area. Now there is plenty of room to spend time with family a friends.
- [West Des Moines Cedar Deck](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-des-moines-cedar-deck-pj-vj~460646)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: This deck replaced an older one that was smaller that the owners wanted and did not fit their modern style. After an extensive interior update, the deck also needed to be upgraded.
- [Urbandale Master Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/urbandale-master-bath-pj-vj~443101)
  - Location: Urbandale, IA
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: This Master Bath was bright blue and too small for a family of 4. A wall was relocated to widen the space to make way for a walk - in tile shower. Now it has a warm and spacious feel with slate floors and cherry cabinets. The shower features a curved glass wall and a pebble floor. The sink is a custom cut piece of granite.
- [Sun Room](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sun-room-pj-vj~619186)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: This addition totally transformed the way this house felt and functioned. It now feels open and all of the art supplies have their own space.
- [Covered Deck Additon](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/covered-deck-additon-pj-vj~1501819)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: The owners of this house wanted a covered deck because of the western sun in the afternoons. It was too hot to eat dinner on the deck and often too hot in the office overlooking the deck. Now they can grill in the rain and enjoy their outdoor space even on the sunniest of days.
