Very light in color A: I'm sorry yet, I am not certain of the tile name. The interior designer might, but this is a house designed 7-8 years ago. **Q: Love the backsplash tile. Who is the manufacturer? Thank you!** *(in Photo Questions)* A: I'm not sure as I'd have to put you in touch with the interior designer. Her name is Allison Siedler Interiors. I believe she has a page, but, I'm having a bit of trouble finding the link. So. . . .https://allisonseidler.com/.  Ask her about the backsplash at the Gloster home. **Q: Love this look! what is the floor stain and wall color?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Not sure without contacting the interior designer. This house was done 5 years ago. I could find out though it might take a bit. Sorry to delayed the response. **Q: Dine-in kitchen delimma** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are building a house with an open floorplan kitchen/living. The kitchen has a large island where we will place stools. Also in the kitchen is a small dining space. It includes boxed windows in the corner. Unfortunately, though, the space is poorly designed in my opinion. It's a small space anyway, designed for a small table. But the door to the backyard open inwards to the space, effectively limiting what you can put there. As it stands, I don't even think a table/chairs of any size would allow the door to open completely without hitting it. This is clear when visiting their model home of the same house. I absolutely want a table there bc we have other uses for the "formal" dining space (we are only a family of three who doesn't entertain much, but obviously need more than just counter dining. We may someday be able to get someone in to reverse the door swing (to swing that's the living room), but that would be way down the road. Honestly, I would love an L-shaped built in banquette. Perhaps with a door stop on the base to prevent the door from hitting it. But I suspect there is no way to do this, with enough seating length without it looking disproportionate to the windows. I've thought about just bench seating along the wall perpendicular to the door wall, using a narrow, rectangular table. But again, I don't know how this would look with the corner window box. I've included photos of measurements, as well as pictures from the model home and similar homes under construction. Our house will be different only such that we will have time floors, and we will not have the oven cabinet at the end (just a continuation of the older/lower cabinets). Our cabinets will be white shaker, with white subway tile backslash and "Carrara" quartz counters. Thank you so much for any ideas. A: If framed too, what about moving the door to one of the window locations further to the family and swapping a window for door and vice versa? Knocking out a cripple wall at the sill of a window and building it in another spot is pretty easy. This too is an option. **Q: Does this painting work?** *(in Design Dilemma)* A: It blends far too much with the entire room. The scale and piece are a decent size, but art should pop off the walls. If the wall itself were an accent color and that were against it, then you'd have something. As is though, this piece of art fades into everything else. Be bold with your modern art style. Get something with a little color power. Even if it's "pop" art. It shouldn't blend with it's surroundings so easily. **Q: Tiling Over Asbestos?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello all! I've just bought my first little house, and as I dig under the layers of flooring, I've run into asbestos tile in about 50% of the house. Some rooms are just asbestos tile topped with vinyl, others have layers of vinyl + plywood. In my dream world, I'd love to rip it all out, but due to cost I'm wondering if I could tile over it (with sexy 2" white hex tiles) if I used a vapor barrier between the asbestos tile + new tile? Any advice is most appreciated. Cheers, Sarah. A: Sarah, I'm not 100% certain, but I have been told by guys in the field that it's simply best to leave it alone and go right over it. Once you crack the asbestos material or damage it, that's when you've got issues and really should get a hazmat crew or licensed group out there to who can seal the place up while disposal is going on.
