He started working in the building trades at age 14 as an assistant to a custom homebuilder in Maryland. He went on to study architecture, design and sculpture at the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art. During his undergraduate studies Melonas began apprenticing with a fine furniture maker, where he learned traditional and contemporary furnituremaking and finishing techniques. Melonas moved to New England in 1997 to pursue a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Artisanry at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. While in New England he experimented with furniture forms, concepts and materials and began experiments with cast concrete as both a sculptural and furniture medium. The close proximity to other artisans working in various materials allowed him to learn about the traditional crafts of fibers, ceramics, and metalworking. Did you have** *(in Photo Questions)* A: I've had to order from them a few times over the last several years. And because I have ordered from them before... I knew what to expect and what questions to ask. I think the challenge we've had is that the local reps change frequently. But, once we figured it all out and ordered what we wanted it went well, and we got what we needed. Additionally, because we have a shop with craftspeople that are skilled at multiple materials we were not afraid to cut or drill parts that we needed. **Q: Are the 3 form cab fronts sliders? or tilt-ups?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: The doors are custom made tilt ups using an aluminum extrusion from Hafele and Blum aventos tilt up hard ware. They work nicely. **Q: What size and color are your tab pulls?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: We used the Mockett DP3 tab pulls. 3" long and the finish was satin chrome.
