**★★★★★ — Dr. Karthik Ramanan, Jan. 2022**

> Kristine helped me create the office I have always dreamed of having. As a busy professional with limited creative instinct, I just broadly knew I wanted an office that incorporated my brand vision and included elements of biophilic design. I had more of a feeling of what I wanted and was only able to articulate the vision in broad statements without much in the way of detail. I gave Kristine my brand outline document, and we walked through the space to discuss the vision. Kristine came back with an excellent plan for an accent wall and several pieces of unique furniture and decor that my clients and colleagues have since unanimously fallen in love with! She helped me order the items and navigate supply issues, which saved me a great deal of time. I could not be more pleased with my office, and I have Kristine to thank for it! She has an incredible ability to understand your vision and see it in her mind, then manifest that vision into a physical space. I can't recommend Kristine enough!

**★★★★★ — Rebecca Haas, May 2019**

> I had such a great experience with Kristine Porter. I’ve always struggled in bringing my household “things” together to make our house feel like a home, but a couple hours with Kristine and she transformed our living spaces to not only feel homey and put together, but to feel like OUR home. And she used only my existing furniture and accessories - really showing her talents!
> She was passionate and truly excited to transform our home.
> Thank you Kristine! I love walking in and relaxing in our newly designed spaces!!
> Whether it’s a big job, or a small job, i highly recommend Kristine!

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> It was a pleasure working in your lovely home, and telling the story of you baseball lovers who live there!

**★★★★★ — Patty Porter, April 2019**

> I recently met Kris and shared my desire and frustrations with creating a wall of memories of my family, She made my wishes come true. She hit it out of the park! Not only did she create the "wall of memories" I have longed for but used items around the house to redesign 3 rooms. The space is very warm and inviting. Not only is she extremely kind but a true professional in every sense of the word. I highly recommend Kris. She can tackle any design job with ease and pleasure.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> It was so much fun working in your lovely home, Patty. I'm happy we delighted your daughters, and surprised your husband, with the redesigned living room. Your feature wall tells a beautiful story of your family. What a blessing!

**★★★★★ — Mark Mitchell, Feb. 2019**

> Whether dealing with students, clients or vendors, Kris always combined a profiency with design and a genuine warmth and enthusiasm. She doesn't impose design standards but listens for how someone really lives in a room and then creatively finds a solution that makes any room in any house more like home. Because she sees the possibilities and qualities in other people ( just as she does in a room), she's a delight to work with and be around.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> Thanks, Mark. It is a joy working with you on our business website. Your artful attention to detail is appreciated. If anyone is looking for a site, I highly recommend https://revenantdesign.com/

**★★★★★ — Whittaker Interiors, LLC, April 2018**

> I had the wonderful opportunity of participating in Kristine's 5-day training program. Kristine is an exceptional teacher and I learned so much from her. She provided me with both classroom work and hands on experience which was incredibly helpful. She gave me the confidence to start my own company, and I can't thank her enough! I highly recommend Kristine's training program, as well as her services for styling & staging!

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> Your group came in and redesigned my living room from chaotic to relaxing and beutiful using my own things. Only thing added was a carpet and lamp.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> You've been through so much in the past few months, and the Harvey hurricane with all it's water damage wasn't what you needed. So glad to be able to help in the transformation of your living/dining/great room spaces so you can relax in your home!

**★★★★★ — Purposeful Placements Home Staging and Redesign, Dec. 2016**

> There are no word to describe what an awesome experience it is to work with Kris, not only is she very talented, she is also VERY patient and extremely kind. I had the honor of being one of her students this summer and was amazed at how she could transform a room using items that were already there. She takes the time to get to know her client and the feel of the room and the rest is magic. I highly recommend Kris and her team.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> You are going to go far in this creative field too. You have displayed talent and creativity in the houses we transformed during class.

**★★★★★ — Michelle Tagliamonte, Sept. 2016**

> I was absolutely delighted with the work Kris and her team did on our home to make it look and feel so comfortable and homey, yet bigger and more appealing. They used all of my furniture and accessories, yet rearranged things in a way that makes my home so attractive! I have very high hopes that potential buyers will be even more interested in making this house their home when they see it, due to the work Kris and her team did for us.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> What a lovely house you have, and a great place for a new buyer to call home. We are hoping you get just the right buyer at the best price.

**★★★★★ — Robin Kohl, Sept. 2016**

> Kris' team has worked on 3 of my homes over the years, and each time I am delighted with their work. They are skilled at seeing my own possessions in a new light and giving the rooms a designer touch. Most recently, they started with a few furnishings and a modest budget and transformed my house in a matter of hours. Give them a try---you'll be delighted!

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> It's always fun working in your home, Robin because you have good taste and like a fresh new look. I'm excited about the transformation in this house. The wood floors are beautiful, and the new furnishings look wonderful.

**★★★★★ — rosellehome, Sept. 2016**

> I am so pleased to be writing this recommendation. I had the opportunity of taking one of Kristine's classes in August. I learned so much from her. She has prepared me so well that I feel confident in starting my own staging business. Her classroom and hands on training is outstanding.. Kristine is an exceptional instructor, decorator and a wonderful person.
> Anna I (student)

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> You are going to be an amazing Home Stager and Interior Redesigner too. Your clients and RE agents will be grateful to have your creative touch added to their rooms. Keep making this world more beautiful!

**★★★★★ — Janet Schulmeister, Sept. 2016**

> I recently participated in Kris's 5 day training class for home staging, re-design and one day decorating. It was awesome! I came to the training with a love of decorating and making rooms look beautiful. This class gave me additional knowledge and confidence to want to move forward and do this professionally. For those of you that have to "do it to learn it", this is the class for you! We went into 3 different homes to practice and gain insight and experience on all three skills. This was invaluable time well spent. Real world experience has always worked best for me and I highly recommend this class to anyone with a creative spirit.

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> I'm delighted that you're starting your own Interior Redesign and Home Staging business too. Your clients will be lucky to have your creative talents in their homes. Your cheerful spirit was wonderful in class, and will be an asset in your business.

**★★★★★ — Drew Thorwall, July 2016**

> Kris was awesome! She made our cluttered home look spacious, bright and welcoming. We got full asking price, possibly over market value, and I think a big part of it is the WOW factor from her staging. She had excellent recommendations on what to fix or not to worry about and gave us as much time as we needed to ask questions. She even helped us find cheap solutions through websites she knows as a pro to get the most bang for minimum buck to spruce up our home for potential buyers. Thanks, Kris!

**Comment from Styling and Staging:**

> I'm delighted it sold so well, and for more than you expected. May you enjoy your move to your new city, and new job while you build many new memories there!

## Community Q&A

**Q: New house - home office advice needed!** *(in Paint)*

Hello -
We recently moved into a new house and are in the process of painting our home office which will primarily be used by me. I have attached pictures of the furniture that will be in the room and the room itself. It's a north facing room with a big window, so it does get natural light, just not a lot of "sun" light. Any suggestions on a refreshing color would be appreciated. I haven't purchased artwork, carpet or accessories yet as I want to paint first. Furniture is mid-century glass top desk and coordinating shelf. Sofa is a stone color. (Ignore the drapes, they will be replaced) Also, this room faces the street. I was considering putting shutters with 3 1/2 in louvers with drape panels on the sides. Thoughts? Thanks for any help you can offer!

A: Since paint can be mixed in (almost) any color, I'd recommend finding your artwork first to let it be the dominate inspiration for the room, then let your wall color be the support. Likewise, your drapes could be dominate or support depending on what you want to feature. It's much easier to bring those pieces into the room, and get a good sense of how the light works with those, then choose your wall color.

**Q: Size of pendant island lighting** *(in Home Decorating)*

I have an island that is 99” long in an open concept kitchen/breakfast/living area with 8 ft ceilings. I don’t want to clutter the area with lighting, so I’m wondering if 2 lights of 12” width will be enough for the 99” length. Here is a picture of the island and pendant. The next width would only give me about 2” in chain to hang and that is not enough for me. Scale wise, I don’t want them to look too small for the large island. Any opinion will be appreciated.

A: I think you'll want 3 if they're just 12" and you have 99" of counter tops. Can you buy 3 and look at them in that spacing? Since they are fairly light/airy looking, I don't think you'll have too much eye noise.

**Q: Curtain help for two story windows** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hi all! I am having trouble deciding where to put my curtains in the living room. Due to budget constraints, starting from the top window with custom curtains isn’t an option. Should we put the curtain rod right below the top window or right above the bottom window?

I posted some rough mark up photos along with my inspiration picture.

Any advice is appreciated!

A: Here's another Before (on left) and After (on right) showing the difference that raising the roman shades can make. Obviously I'm not suggesting this color, but rather something like a woven shade for texture. Also adding the panels will give you a nice finished look, and can probably be purchased inexpensively at a HomeGoods or online.

**Q: Which lamp looks best?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The blue gives some unexpected color although I have some blue within my wall art. The grey matches and blends with the rest of my room. Having a hard time choosing.

A: You're doing a good job, Kelly. I do like the Blue lamp you showed originally, but maybe just one between the chairs with something different next to the sofa. Yes, I'd recommend updating the shade on the standing lamp, and looking at a place like Home Goods for shade & lamps so you can try them out in the room. Be sure to plug them in and turn them on for the best evaluation. Light & Life can cozy-up a home.

**Q: Furniture arrangement** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The fireplace is at the end of the wall with a sliding glass door next to it. The dining room is on the other side of the sliding glass door. A very long wall across from it. The end of the room (connecting the fireplace wall to the very long wall has two large widows. How do I arrange the furniture without blocking the fireplace or making it awkward to enter? This will be the living room so I don't want a tv in here. More for conversations.i was hoping to use this furniture in the room. This is the only furniture I'm considering from what I already own. I haven't purchased anything for the room yet. The floors will be natural red oak. This is Tammy... not Mark!

A: Do you want conversation in front of the fireplace or TV watching? You could put the TV between the 2 windows and face the longest part of the sectional sofa towards the windows, with the wrap around to face the fireplace.

**Q: Rug advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Does this rug go with this room or the one with the brown sofa or it does not go with either

A: I'd recommend adding tables & lamps to the room before you choose the wall color. Look at the wall color during the daylight and in the evenings to see how it changes. Your floor appears to have lots of orange in it. The complimentary color is blue so you could choose a wall color that has blue undertones, but I'm guessing at colors with my computer monitor and your photos. Colors will appear to "change" based on the lighting in the room. Add the lamp light first.
