**Q: Slightly warmer color than BM Chantilly Lace?** *(in Home Decorating)*

We are almost certainly doing our cabs in Chantilly Lace (waiting on a sample), and once they're in we will do a test with it on the walls as well. It's possible we will go with another white in there. Just gotta see how the cabs look once they're in. 

We will probably be going with another white in our dining room. I had hoped to carry the same white over, but I think CL is just too bright in that space. Does anyone have a white recommendation from either BM or SW that is just a tad warmer? That room is two toned, and the upper half will be SW Rice Paddy. I absolutely love that color in there and can't wait until it's done.  This is how it looks with Chantilly Lace, which seems so stark in that room after years with a creamier color. We will probably do the living room in the same white as the dining room, and it has a sage couch and chair, dark woods, rust drapes, and 5 windows (east and south).

A: which color did you choose? I’m considering BM Chantilly Lace for my trim and BM Oxford White for my walls. I’m looking for a slightly softer color than Chantilly that isn’t yellowish. I’d love to hear what you chose & see pics!!

**Q: help choosing stain color for red oak, dark walnut vs provincial** *(in Polls)*

Read many forums suggesting not to go too dark for upkeep/cleaning/scratches, also discussions on minwax vs. other more professional products. Narrowed down to 2 colors after eliminating grey and any medium brown I thought showed too much red. 

For our newly installed red oak I am debating between Dark Walnut or Provincial. Or possible 50/50 dark walnut and classic grey but didn’t test this sample, just saw it from a friend. Anyone use these colors? Please share if you love or regret your decision and any pics would be helpful.

No pets but 2 kids so I am concerned with making a decision I regret if we end up with too much wear on the floors.

Added pictures of samples near the gray kitchen island, of the kitchen and fireplace to get a feel for the colors in the house.

A: I wish I had found this string a week ago!!! We just bought a new place and had the floors refinished last week. Our floor guy gave us samples on unsanded red oak and they looked soooo different (middle of the stain samples pictured). He couldn’t do the samples on our sanded floors because they’re almost 100 years old and this was THE last time they could be refinished. I really wanted the 50/50 gray & Provincial because I had a feeling it would be exactly what I wanted...a cool med brown. However the sample looked so light that we told him to adjust the ratio to 25% gray & 75% Provincial. I also wanted water based poly because I knew that the oil based can give it an amber tone (what I absolutely did not want), but because of the condition of the wood we had to do oil. Now i think our floors although beautiful are way too warm. I feel like they look like cabinetry from the 80’s. I wish our contractor was better about samples and advising about the type of poly early on so that we could have leaned for a cooler stain color. There is no hint of gray :(. I’ll just have to learn to love them. I’m praying switching out the light bulbs to a bluer toned light will help counter the warmth...
