Decor suggestions, please!** *(in Design Dilemma)* So after getting so many awesome replies on a post I recently wrote, after an unexpected move, I figured I would start again! I love my new house. it is not "on trend" currently so it's hard to find ideas. It's a bit dark because we are on a heavily wooded lot. My ideas so far are to put a big cozy chair with an ottoman and floor lamp angled toward the fireplace next to the big window. Add a coffee table, art, and style the shelves. Im leaning transitional style. Replace the sconce with a more modern one. My question is color. I always struggle with color. I want to stay away fall colors, this house lends itself well to that, but I think it would be too dark. I wouldn't mind a little bit, like some burgundy, but I would want it paired with something that feels fresh. I was thinking when we replace the couch I would like a light blue (grayish) tweed couch. Would that work? I think this house will be such a cozy house in the fall and winter, but I want to add some cheerfulness. I've included a picture of the kitchen which is attached to the living room. It will take time, because moving is expensive, but I need to start thinking about it and looking for things now Any and all suggestions appreciated! (pardon our moving in mess) A: I would recommend to soften and lighten the room to paint the whole room except the brick a soft neutral like Kilim beige. I would also bring a soft blue in to accent and change the rug up. For the windows I recommend ceiling to floor panels to bring height to the space and softness to the brick and hard surfaces.bring in some accent pillows and art to complement and pull everything together. Thank you A: I think that the hutch is in the proper location. moving it in closer to the sofa will make the wall seem unbalanced and crowd the living room. If you do an arrangement of large art centered on the living space it will balance out the china cabinet and also define the living area **Q: Which chandelier?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I really like both but I can’t tell which one is better suited for my home. Unfortunately, I have to keep the couch until our kids and puppy grow up a bit. Any recommendations? My taste lean towards traditional and scandinavan design. (There are paint swatches on the wall) A: You have a beautiful space with great natural lighting. I would recommend changing the wall color to something a bit cooler in tone but still fresh and neutral such as Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige.
