Jacque put together beautiful selections that modernized the space but retained a look that complements the rest of my home's interior. The job was a total gutting and re-do that wrapped in the adjacent powder room, too. Mark and Tyler, along with Chad, worked diligently to carefully install every aspect, including relocating and converting to gas my electric cooktop. Can you tell me the wall tile size and name/manufacture?** *(in Photo Questions)* Would love to know the tile size and name, thank you! A: Tile is from Happy Floors. Titan is the name of the tile, and they are 4"x12". **Q: counter top** *(in Photo Questions)* What is the material used for the counter top and what is the color name? A: The material is White Spring granite **Q: Shower Window - Frosted vs Clear glass?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are renovating our master bath. We currently have one small window with clear glass that is not in the shower area. Our shower will be moved so that the window will be inside of the shower area. The new window opening will be larger than the original. My goal is to bring in as much natural light as possible. Fortunately, the room faces east, so we get brilliant, beautiful light in the mornings. I have to decide between clear glass or a textured (gravel-like) glass. The window is just high enough that privacy isn't an issue, but I suppose if someone walked up to the side of our house with a short ladder he would have a pretty good view. My fear is that the textured glass will dim the light or diffuse it so that I lose the sun-filled effect. Also, I'm not sure I'll like the aesthetic of the mottled look of the window. Our shower will be glass-enclosed and directly opposite the bathroom entrance. Now here's the rub - we ordered the window with clear glass, but it arrived yesterday with textured glass. It will put our renovation off by 3 weeks in order to get the clear window. I'm tempted to just keep the textured glass to make things easier, but if I find out that the quality and abundance of light will be compromised significantly, I'll wait for the clear replacement. So... Knowing what you know about my thought process, would I regret staying with the frosted? Thanks so much! A: I would not suggest frosted glass, but possibly a water glass or antique crackle glass that will bring all that wonderful light into your bath. I am like you and love all the natural light. **Q: Quartz vs Granite - truth please!** *(in Design Dilemma)* I was set on quartz, as I didn't want to worry about sealing, and from what I understood it was harder. I also like the marble "look-a-likes" quartz offers. But then I came across numerous threads about quartz cracking and having a terrible time with customer service because cracks aren't covered. So I talked to the local shop and the owner won't sell quartz anymore because of the issues like heat from appliances making it crack and chip. But then I see people who have no issues. In short. I have no idea what to do! Anyone know the "truth" behind whether quartz really has a lot of problems? More than granite? A: Quartz is a man-made product and it does have resin in it, but the resin is only 10% of its make-up. Granite on the other hand in natural stone compressed by nature and time. If cracking takes place, I would have to say it is inferior product, abused, or thin in nature. Some folks might consistently place hot things on these products and therefore things happen. We have been in the business for almost 17 years now and have never had a customer nor our own granite or quarts crack! I personally prefer the quartz because of the variety you have to choose from. I would suggest going to a different supplier and consider the price as you get what you pay for. **Q: Roofing question** *(in Design Dilemma)* We own a brick ranch style home. We need to get the roof replaced. I love the look and longevity of standing seam metal. However, at least one contractor told us we should take metal off the table because of the angles of the roof and the way the snow would slide off the garage and pile up in front of our mudroom door and onto our deck which is directly behind the mudroom (we live in NH). See attached photo. I have to imagine there is some way to deal with the issue but maybe he's right and the piles and noise would drive us nuts. Thoughts? A: He is correct. We have used metal on projects and there are many, many issues to consider and none of them easy. Your home would look amazing with a gable over your front door and then use three dimensional shingles - n a grey. **Q: Corner tub ideas??? Master Bath** *(in Design Dilemma)* Project started w/a leak and has led to partial remodel. We would really like to remove the cultured marble tub however cannot figure out what to put in it's place to make the space flow. The tub causes a lot of issues because of it's color (biscuit) and furthermore we don't even use it. It's an eyesore and taking up valuable space. Trying to keep our cabinets, will be painting them. Open to moving them possibly w/the proper layout but ideally would prefer to keep them where they are. I don't care for freestanding tubs esp in the corner and a drop in would have to be less than 5 ft to fit. Again, we don't use the tub so I'm having a hard time justifying buying a new one just to match my new bathroom colors (Tile, counters, paint, etc) I have read many posts pertaining to this but haven't seen any solutions that I just love. I did see a built in bench but it just looked like they stuck it there because there used to be a tub there :) A: I guess I didn't read the entire post, first. Sorry. But you are in a bit of spot if you can't move anything. If you are painting your vanities, you could place a tall wall cabinet in the corner (painted the same or different as an accent piece). with hooks on the wall.
