They can match the door color or be a different color, but definitely something that stands out a little more. Planter boxes under the windows with bright flowers would also make a big difference. At the bottom of the stairs, on either side, you can also add large potted flowers. Below are some examples of how much of a difference a new door, new shutters, and planter boxes + potted plants can make! A more drastic change would be to open up the porch and possibly extend it so that it is larger. This will let more light in and make it feel more inviting.
