We needed to transform our one-car 1946 NE Portland garage into a safe, accessible ADU for my mother in law. From our first meeting and through design, build, and completion, Build Forward worked with absolute competence and integrity. Everyone on our team was highly skilled, kind, conscientious, and resourceful. My mother in law is so happy with the final result. Thank you so much to Javier, Annette, Omar, Octavio, and the rest of the crew! **★★★★★ — Birgitte R, Jan. 2024** > Working with Javier and the Build Forward team was an absolute pleasure throughout our entire kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom, and great room remodel. From the initial consultation to the final touches, Javier demonstrated professionalism and a keen understanding of our vision. The Build Forward team's expertise was evident as they skillfully translated our ideas into a tangible reality. Our remodel was extensive and as occurs with most projects of this scale, we had some glitches. What sets Build Forward apart is that they worked with us to resolve them all. Communication skills of the small Build Forward team were really good, ensuring that every step of the process was transparent and collaborative. They took the time to listen to our preferences and offered valuable insights to enhance the overall design. The collaborative approach fostered a sense of trust and made the extensive remodeling journey well worth the end result. The Build Forward team worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life, and their dedication was truly commendable. The craftsmanship and attention to detail exhibited by the team were key factors in achieving the stunning results we now enjoy in our kitchen and bathroom. Their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction was evident in every aspect of the project. In conclusion, Javier and the Build Forward team not only met but exceeded our expectations. Their wonderful work ethic, coupled with a genuine passion for their craft, made the remodeling process a positive and satisfying endeavor. I wholeheartedly recommend Build Forward for any remodeling project, confident that their expertise will transform visions into beautiful realities. **★★★★★ — Ruben, July 2023** > We had a wonderful experience working with the Build Forward crew on a kitchen and bath remodel. Really from end-to-end: initial meeting, design phase, the terrifying week before demo, demo itself, the rebuild, and finally move in. I am just thrilled every time I step in the door now. They were particularly good at maximizing our very tight space, which included getting very creative on a new layout and placement of appliances (including a really sleek embedded hood vent). They really heard us out on what we wanted, and came up with a plan to get it done. Would easily recommend. **★★★★★ — DeDe, June 2023** > I contracted Build Forward for a complete basement renovation in my home. The quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail was absolutely outstanding! I made some design changes along the way and Build Forward was able to accommodate my needs to provide me with exactly what I was envisioning. One of the biggest values that Build Forward offers is a three-year warranty on the work they do. I recently came up on the three-year time frame and they came back out to fix a few minor things that needed attention. I would highly recommend getting an estimate from Build Forward. You will not be disappointed! **★★★★★ — brennan dougherty, April 2023** > Build Forward did an outstanding job building my new ADU in SE Portland. Javier, Dawn and Curry were knowledgeable, quick to respond and provided expert guidance throughout the project, from permitting to final inspection. If you are looking for a General Contractor for a remodel or new construction look no further! > > Also special shoutout to Octavio, his attention to detail and passion for carpentry and all things construction is 2nd to none. **★★★★★ — Jim Pellmann, Oct. 2022** > We interviewed 10 general contractors from the Portland, Oregon area and selected Build Forward to do a gut reno of our main bathroom. We’ve worked with many contractors in the past and, Build Forward demonstrated great knowledge, brought thorough experience, and provided the best overall value. > > Javier, Curry, and Dawn were truly great to work with. They met with us to fully understand everything we wanted, they responded quickly to all our questions and our design was fully executed to perfection. We especially appreciated their communication throughout the process, the team’s attention to detail and the overall excellent craftsmanship in their entire team’s work. > > We can’t thank the entire Build Foward team enough for making our dream become a reality. We will enjoy the bathroom for years to come and we would highly recommend them for a project of any scope. > > /// Jim P. & Mike S. **★★★★★ — Claire Shrout, Nov. 2021** > We are so incredibly pleased with our newly remodeled basement. It is a gorgeous, open, light and bright space for our sons to enjoy with their friends (and to let the grownups have the upstairs to themselves!). The new guest room and huge bathroom are amazing, I can hardly believe it's our house. Throughout the entire process, Javier and his team kept us informed and involved. They were always keeping us in the loop, especially when the construction would affect our lives upstairs, like the water being off for an hour or two. This will be the company that I call for all future projects. **★★★★★ — Katie Gurney, July 2021** > We Build Forward truly was one of the best decisions we have made. Working with Javier and the team was professional AND meaningful. There were some crazy situations with covid, some crew members that had to move, etc., and yet, I never felt abandoned. We were always in communication and there was always honesty and integrity. Not to mention, of course, the BEAUTIFUL job the crew did on my bathroom remodel and finishing our basement. The project manager, Curry, always made me feel like a priority and I could always count on him getting back to me with answers. The lead construction member, Octavio - let me tell you - CRAFTSMAN! His work ethic and skills are next level! Omar came later to the project and is a master at finding products, materials and solutions. Is it weird to actually miss your construction workers when they're done? For REAL, even though construction is a pain, We Build Forward made it as painless as possible. Don't hesitate. **★★★★★ — Sam Salenger, Jan. 2021** > This was the first home renovation project I ever took on. I was nervous and from the first meeting to the last walkthrough I felt I was in good hands. Javier and the team are good, kind, hardworking people. I absolutely LOVE the bathrooms they remodeled for me! Highly recommend this company! **Comment from Build Forward Design & Remodel:** > Thank you for the kind words Sam! We absolutely loved working with you and your projects turned out beautiful! We need another puppy playdate soon! **★★★★★ — Bobby Gumenick, Jan. 2021** > Javier and the team did an awesome job on our kitchen and living room remodel. There was great communication throughout and very high quality work. We would absolutely recommend Build Forward! **Comment from Build Forward Design & Remodel:** > Thank you Bobby! Your kitchen turned out stunning and we had a great time working on it and collaborating with you both. Now, as soon as we can get together, we'll take you up on the beers and snacks :) **★★★★★ — Malarie Capell, Nov. 2019** > We are so so so happy with our project after working with Build Forward. Build forward took on our entire house, and understood our vision and made it a reality. The whole team was fantastic, easy to work with, communicate with, organized, and efficient. I would trust them with another project any day & will be recommending them to anyone undertaking a remodel. **Comment from Build Forward Design & Remodel:** > Thank you Malarie! We absolutely loved all of your ideas and inspiration as well and had a blast on this project. We are so glad you and your family are enjoying the finished result. Portland has seen a surge in ADU's over the last decade or so, and that growth continues even more now due to our new "pandemic lifestyles". The initial reason for the increase was due largely in part to Portland's views on city sprawl versus in-filling. Portland has long supported growth with-in our city's existing borders. To support this we have seen changes in code restrictions and financial incentives since the mid 1990's with the most recent changes happening in Augu… [See all 17 projects](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/design-build-firms/build-forward-design-and-remodel-pfvwus-pf~313786234) ## Ideabooks - [We Heart Kitchens](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/132308338/list/we-heart-kitchens) — 11 ideas - [Beautiful Bathrooms](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/128418274/list/beautiful-bathrooms) — 12 ideas [See all 2 ideabooks](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/users/buildforwardconstruction) --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
