> We moved into town a few years ago and wanted to build a new contemporary home, which is a bit rare here.  Fortunately, we discovered Steven Ginn architects.  They are comfortable doing many different styles of houses, but I think they really shine when designing contemporary ones.  Ours is brimming with natural light and beautiful lines.  Everyone that comes into it remarks about the unique architecture and styling.  Steven listens to his clients and adjusts to their personal tastes - many architects have trouble doing this - and works with them to realize their vision.  He also balances beauty and functionality well - our house looks great and is comfortable.  Steven and his associates were always available when we needed them and worked long hours to ensure everything went well. It was a very complicated and involved project, we had a long list issues and ideas for them to deal with.  A previous architect had vaulted the ceilings in the back of the house.   We wanted the front of the house to match the back. We wanted the house to blend into our stately, old neighborhood.  We wanted a luxury master suite, an office, more bedrooms, more garage space, covered outdoor kitchen and living space, pool & hot tub, exercise room as well as  a cool, but kid friendly, basement entertaining space and much more.

## Community Q&A

**Q: ceiling stain used???** *(in Photo Questions)*

Do you have to use outdoor stain because of the weather and humidity changes outdoors?

A: Thank you for your interest in our project.  You don't "have" to stain wood outdoors.  You can let it age naturally, but that is often very uneven and unappealing to many.  We used Sikkens Cetol stain on this project.

A: The ipe shades are let into the ipe outlookers about 1/2", similar to the way a good wood ladder would be build.  The outlookers are then bolted to the webs of the wide flanges.

What color and brand is the stain?

A: The stain is Sikkens Cetol and the color is Teak.

**Q: This is beautiful. Who makes the suspension light?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Tennessee field stone.

**Q: Concrete** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the concrete poured in place and how did you finish it? Thank you.

A: The concrete is poured in place with standard steel forms. The metal ties at the seams are lacquered so they won't leave rust streaks on the concrete.
