Is that correct? Also, was the cabinet custom made or purchased? I recognize those lights in the kitchen - who makes them again? **Q: Need help designing master bath/closet remodel** *(in Design Dilemma)* We have about a 12 x13 sq ft area to use for a master bath and walk in closet it is currently a very outdated bathroom/closet/sink room. We are trying to do most on our own (except plumping and electrical) we just bout our first house! Here is a photo of the current layout and one of our 'goal' we are also looking to add a guest small bath next to it for the guest bedroom.we don't know what to do with the large space. We are ok going into the guest bedroom for their bathroom. Suggestions on layout, feel free to ask questions sorry the photos are so rough. The space is 13 feet wide and 12 long until the guest bed closet. please and thank you :) A: I agree with Kelli on this one. I have seen the aftermath of too many do-it-yourself designs. At least bring in a seasoned designer to do the design for you. There are so many issues with modifying an existing bathroom or creating a new one, that you have to take many things into account. Since plumbing will probably be one of your larger expenses, you will want to make sure that you are planning something that can actually be accomplished in the long run for your budget. You can get a cost estimate just for design alone from multiple designers and go with the one that fits your style and budget. There are plenty of us around that are willing to work within your budgetary constraints. **Q: Dining Room Lamp Update Needed** *(in Design Dilemma)* We recently changed our dining room chairs and the lamp above the table. While the chairs look great, the lamp looks really overpowering, and I think we made a mistake buying it. It might be that the shade is too plain and boring? But with all that is going on in the room, I didn't think there were many options. However, now I'm wondering if I can recover it or wrap it in ribbon/twine to make it look less stark and give it a different look and feel? A: I would first check on your return policy for the light, if you don't have an option of returning it, I would probably try to sell it (using the manufacturer's picture) on CL or Ebay or whatever. My thought is that if you purchased it because you thought it would look nice based on the picture, there is a chance you could sell it the same way. If both of those ideas don't work out, I would contact my local lighting store (the type that can rewire a lamp or sell you custom lamp shades). I would talk to a lighting specialist about what could be done, and then I would go forth and do. The reason I say that I would speak with someone is because all lamps have been UL tested, to ensure safety and it looks like this fixture has a few spot lights on the underside that might pose a problem if you are spraying them. The other thing that I am not certain of is what sort of finish is on the black. Is is rough or smooth? Most likely, you would be able to spray the black all one color, like the classic mid century bronze color already suggested, but you might want to test in an area that won't show (like the underside of the mounting hardware) to make sure that the paint will actually stick to surface and look the way you want it to. **Q: Small Bathroom--Tile Choice and Layout** *(in Design Dilemma)* Updating small bathroom and am unsure what floor tile will be best. Currently looking at longer, rectangular tile. Would wider rectangular tile be better for the floors or the more narrow 4 inch tile be better? Is it too much to use the same tile for the wall tile plus accent tile? Not sure what will make the room look bigger and be asthetically pleasing. Would a contrasting floor be better? Decisions! A: I would use the larger tile, offset, on the floor similar to unless you are planning on removing the tub and doing something similar to this and then use that gorgeous accent tile only in the tub area. http://media.hgtv.ca/daylife/02JK1Sxh055eR\_940x640.jpg **Q: Above my cupboards decor** *(in Design Dilemma)* I hate this space above my cabinets, my husband refused to let me do staggered cupboards, and I regret it :( we are planning on adding hardware and don't mind the counter mess, but any ideas? A: I agree with what others have said. Basically, kitchens already have a ton of things going on visually and you don't want to add to that with visual clutter. If you feel strongly that you need to have something up there, I would put a very large over sized painting, sign, or fun object that has some meaning to you centered on the highest point of the ceiling. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
