> Loved working with the skilled and friendly team at the Easton office of JGKB. Alison was a delight to partner with, and the design expertise enabled us to find the space for an additional powder room within our project. We love the result and how easy and organized the entire process was!

> Jennifer Gilmer designed and helped us procure our new, amazing kitchen! We had a terrific experience working with Meghan at JGKB--she truly collaborated with us to realize our vision. She brought fresh ideas, problem solving, as well as proven approaches to help us design and implement an uber functional, gorgeous kitchen. Her amazing design was invaluable; her product advice was key. We look forward to working with her again on our next project!

**★★★★★ — Nancy L, Feb. 2020**

> We had a terrific experience working with Meghan at JGKB. Our project was a collaboration - she came with creativity and fresh ideas and was always happy to incorporate our ideas and changes. When we were brainstorming, she'd draw everything out by hand which was amazing because it made it much easier to see and feel the space as we discussed the different options. In the end, there were no surprises, it turned out exactly as we had hoped, and we're thrilled. We renovated a kitchen and master bath.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much! It was a pleasure to work with you.

**★★★★★ — HU-166096316, July 2019**

> We needed professional help to design our new kitchen, and we found it in senior designer Scott Stultz from Jennifer Gilmer K&B. We gave Stultz full control of the project and only requested that he design a kitchen that would flow with our adjoining spaces. The result is magnificent! We thoroughly enjoy using our beautiful and casually elegant new kitchen!

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much! It was a pleasure to work with you.

**★★★★★ — Ryan Scarborough, June 2019**

> I can't say enough good things about the vision, design, and execution demonstrated by Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath in connection with our home renovation. We re-did our kitchen and all four bathrooms and could not have done it without the guidance from Sarah Kahn Turner and the other professionals at Jennifer Gilmer. They even helped us find the perfect contractor, and worked seamlessly with the contractor to make their vision a reality. My wife and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thanks for the review, Ryan! It was a pleasure to work with you.

**★★★★★ — Jeff M, June 2019**

> We recently completed a full kitchen and powder room redesign and renovation project with Scott Stultz of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath (JGKB), and we could not be happier with Scott’s design ideas, creativity, and the final result. Scott developed a wonderful vision for our kitchen, drawing on the many colors and textures found in a natural stone wall. The different materials, textures, and colors he selected blended together beautifully in a way we could not have anticipated.
>
> We could not have envisioned the look Scott created, but it ended up being just what we wanted. Jennifer Gilmer also provided great advice and support throughout the project. We thoroughly enjoyed working with both Scott and Jennifer. They were easy to work with, listening carefully and offering creative ideas, options, and solutions every step of the way.
>
> We selected one of the general contractors JGKB recommended—Mike Thornton and his team— and it was the best contractor experience we have ever had. Mike and his team were skilled, organized, hard-working, reliable, and adaptable. Working seamlessly with Scott, Jennifer, and the vendors, Mike and his team provided the expertise of craftsmen who know how to solve problems as they arise, making practical, sensible suggestions that we always accepted. They were a pleasure to have in our home and were ahead of schedule in completing the job.
>
> We are so happy we trusted Scott Stultz and Jennifer Gilmer of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath for our kitchen and powder room designs. The customized JGKB design of our new kitchen and powder room suits us and the rest of our house perfectly.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you for the review, Jeff! It was a pleasure to work with you.
>
> Sincerely,
> The team at JGKB

> We recently did a complete kitchen remodel with the incredible design work of Meghan Browne from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath. She did an incredible job of listening to our needs, evaluating our style sense, and finding solutions that maximized our space while making sure the kitchen matched the rest of the house. She introduced us to a great contractor as well that implemented her vision. We couldn't have been happier with this process. The end result is way better than we could have imagined!

**★★★★★ — Nancy Deck, May 2019**

> Jennifer Gilmer and her team created my dream kitchen- light, airy, sleek, functional and timeless. Throughout the design process, the team worked collaboratively with me, listening to my initial ideas and then bringing me design options that incorporated and improved on them in unique and creative ways. Jennifer introduced me to wonderful new materials to use in the cabinets and countertops that are both beautiful and practical to maintain. Although the footprint of the kitchen didn't change, I have much more storage as a result of Jennifer's thoughtful design and creative cabinet shelving and inserts. It is truly a pleasure to cook and entertain in our new kitchen.

**★★★★★ — Susan Bradshaw, April 2019**

> Jennifer Gilmer and her team designed and installed a kitchen that continues to generate "wow" comments from all who visit.
> Most impressively, they worked to hold responsible the company that provided the under cabinet lighting (which we were told by the company would last our lifetime) and failed after four years. The lighting was embedded in the cabinetry making this a complex and challenging project. Gilmer convinced the company to replace the entire system and arranged for installation at no cost to us. We couldn't be more pleased with Jennifer Gilmer's advice, design, installation, integrity and commitment to her customers.

**★★★★★ — Meg Goldthwaite, March 2019**

> Our kitchen is the heart of our home. Sarah Kahn Turner from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchens listened to our needs, saw our vision, and transformed our hearth into a welcoming and beautiful spot where we can warm hearts, fill bellies and nourish souls. She then helped us turn our master bathroom and bedroom into a serene and beautiful oasis. But even that wasn’t enough, so we asked Sarah to renovate our Bethany Beach house kitchen and master bath. Our worst problem is we can’t be in two gorgeous JGK homes at once.

**★★★★★ — Maribeth Lowe, March 2018**

> We loved working with Sarah Kahn Turner at Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath. She has tremendous expertise in high-end projects and was very easy to work with. The process was smooth and she worked hard to guide us every step of the way. We ended up removing a wall in the kitchen that we might not have considered without seeing her plans, allowing us now to enjoy beautiful views from every part of the room. We appreciated her close involvement during project execution and her skill at solving any unexpected problem that arose during construction. She went above and beyond in sharing her time and advice every step of the way. Her attention to even the final details like cabinet hardware and lighting produced spectacular results. She is a very talented design professional who ensured that our project was within budget, on time, exceeded our expectations and turned out absolutely beautiful. If you have the opportunity to work with Sarah on your project, you absolutely should!

**★★★★★ — karen shapiro, Jan. 2018**

> After doing several projects with Jennifer Gilmer (JGKB) for clients of mine, it was my turn to ask for HELP...we live in a COMPACT home that had a challenging small galley kitchen...we are a family of "foodies" and working without getting in each other's way was impossible.
> Jennifer to the rescue! Her kitchen design work resulted in a fantastic plan that gave us more counter space and storage than we could have imagined....her attention to detail is extraordinary. I've been an interior designer for over 35 years so needless to say I had some strong opinions. Jennifer, ever so respectfully, listened to my thoughts and ideas for design and, when a new inspiration came, for revisions. Meghan Browne was engaged as well and helped facilitate...her presence was invaluable.
> Paul Lappas (Lappas Construction) deserves attention as well...he is a superb contractor that executed Jennifer's plans beautifully. He is among a rare breed of contractors that are patient, honest and most talented.
> Along with the talent, wisdom, aesthetics and enthusiasm Jennifer brings comes a professional that is also a friend. We have a stunning and highly functional kitchen that is pure joy to work in. Our passion for bringing family and friends together is so much easier thanks to JGKB

**★★★★★ — Karen H., Oct. 2017**

> JGKB was wonderful! Meghan Browne was helpful every step of the design and construction process. She assisted with a superb layout and material choices were spot on with my taste. Meghan was also very responsive and helpful with every minute detail and every question I had about the renovation. I would highly recommend JGKB and Meghan - no hesitation at all! They know kitchens!

**★★★★★ — Jenna H, Sept. 2017**

> We worked with Meghan and she is amazing. Her attention to detail with our budget in mind every step of the way made the process seamless and rewarding. Not only did she have excellent ideas for our kitchen, but thought of ideas to help maximize every inch of space to accommodate everything we were looking for. I'd highly recommend Meghan and Jennifer Gilmer!

**★★★★★ — Maite Lezaun Leo, Nov. 2016**

> We just completed a full kitchen and powder room renovation and could not be more pleased with the results and the experience. We have done numerous renovations in the past, and none has been so seamless and gone so smoothly from end to end.
>
> We worked with Paul Bentham, who friends had highly recommended. Paul was fantastic. He is a great designer that is a real pleasure to work with. We had lots of ideas for the kitchen, but Paul improved significantly on all of them. He is very devoted, produced drafts quickly, and was very effective at working within a budget. Whenever issues arose, Paul solved them, calmly and efficiently.
>
> At Pauls' recommendation, we hired Mike Thornton as the contractor. He was also sensational. The quality of his team's work is really top notch, and everyone was extremely pleasant. Mike is very responsive and really went the extra mile to make sure we were completely satisfied with every detail. They also did a great job minimizing the impact to the rest of our house. We've never had a better experience with a contractor.

**★★★★★ — dpeled, Oct. 2016**

> I have only wonderful things to say about Paul Bentham and Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath and their work on our kitchen and bar area. From the moment we met Paul, he worked diligently and exhaustively on every last detail, and was beyond patient with the multiple changes that we asked for in the design project.
>
> His enthusiasm and vision are really what makes his kitchens so special. You can tell he loves what he does and it isn't just a job, he truly wants each project to be unique, special and beautiful.
>
> Our kitchen and bar are complete and each are beautiful with top of the line details. They look like they could be in a magazine, but are practical for how we live and truly functional. Paul was vigilant with every detail and made sure everything was perfect. And now we are thrilled with the result!

**★★★★★ — jennylee69, Sept. 2016**

> Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath was recommend to me by a friend. Meghan Browne was a consummate professional and was very patient with me during the design process. She was more than happy to work with our interior designer and the project was a true team effort. Because of Meghan's patience and willingness to listen, we ended up with our dream kitchen. It is everything we wanted and it is so beautiful. We literally spend most of our time in this room, so it was worth every penny we invested in it to make it our very own.

**★★★★★ — Matthew Matthew, Sept. 2016**

> Two bedroom condo renovation – we were looking for a fresh contemporary/modern feel with openness, smooth lines and a less is more attitude.
> Photos: http://www.houzz.com/projects/1664209/condo-remodel
>
> We choose the kitchen designer first: Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath – We worked with Paul Bentham. He had great ideas and captured what we were looking for better than anyone else….he also wasn’t afraid to say he didn’t like some of our ideas and reminded me a bit of Chef Gordon Ramsay of kitchens. We also considered Reico, Stuart, Bray and Scarff, Modern Style Construction’s whole sale approach and a few others. Paul Bentham was probably the most expensive of all the people we considered, but probably the best as well. I like working with Paul B. and would consider him on any future job.
>
> Next we choose the General Contractor: Modern Style Construction – We worked with Sergei Tsoy. Sergei’s proposal was a flat labor fee for everything we wanted and then the materials were purchased by us or by him with a set markup. This was unlike anyone else we considered and gave us a sense of breathing room. We also considered Reico, Bray and Scarff, Four Brothers, Stuart, and a few others. Sergei was easy to do business with in terms of communications, change orders, fine tuning proposal to meet job site requirements, and he was very timely. Planning what you want and how things will look will take time and require countless iterations. Construction is messy and mistakes and problems will come up – what sets contractors aside is how they handle them. Closing out a project requires quality assurance measures by the contractor and owner. It’s easy to get frustrated no matter how good the contractor is. I liked working with Modern Style and would consider them again on any future project.
>
> Then we choose the countertop supplier: Stone and Tile Works – This was at the suggestion of Paul Bentham. The end product came out looking great. However, two major mistakes were made, but to their credit they worked on it and made it right until we were satisfied. I’d definitely use them again nonetheless.
>
> Then we choose Kitchen appliances: Subzero / Wolf – To be honest we wanted Meilo, but they didn’t make a side by side 36” fridge. It was debate on exactly how much to spend on the appliances, but at the end of the day it wasn’t the place to pinch pennies.
>
> Next was the bathroom hardware: Porcelanosa – We went to the one on Rockville Pike and the place is a bit of candy store for folks doing renovations. All of the sales people are very professional and helpful with ideas. The bathroom tiles ended up coming from architectural ceramics. We worked with Nkili Sudah and she was great. Had lots of ideas.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much for your complimentary review! Your kitchen and bathroom are truly spectacular and we are so delighted you are happy with them.

**★★★★★ — lynnpar, Sept. 2016**

> Jennifer Gilmer and her team brought enormous design talent to our project, both in the aesthetic and practical aspects of kitchen design. We are thrilled with the results.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much for your kind review! It was truly our pleasure!

**★★★★★ — yaelsimone, Aug. 2016**

> We have nothing less than the most glowing words to say about Paul Bentham and Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath and absolutely recommend them without reservation! Paul designed the new kitchen in our home and it is a masterpiece. We are both busy professionals with little discretionary free time and found working with Paul wonderful. He involved us in the process as much as we wanted. Yet, we could also leave the job to him and know that the design and sourcing of our cabinets, fixtures, and appliances was done with the utmost care and consideration to deadlines and budget. He has an engineering background and his attention to detail allows him to deliver a room that is a balance of art and style and functional excellence. We plan on using him and JGKB to design the 6 bathrooms in our home.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much for your glowing review. Your kitchen is spectacular and flows so well with the rest of the house, it is truly one-of-a-kind. The photos are terrific, too, showing how the chandeliers and backsplash are absolutely the perfect choices. We sincerely hope you continue to enjoy the space with your family for many years to come.

**★★★★★ — annbelyea, Aug. 2016**

> Jennifer Gilmer completely redesigned our kitchen making it a beautiful and functional upgrade to our home which was built back in the early 1990s. Working with Jennifer and Meghan was an easy experience they are so expert and talented in their field. When I was having trouble finding a suitable vanity for the Master Bath - Meghan just designed the perfect piece for us. We are very pleased with the results of our project and highly recommend them for future projects.

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Ann, on behalf of Jennifer and Meghan, I would like to thank you for your wonderful compliments. We think your kitchen and bathrooms turned out beautifully, too. We are always happy to help our clients improve their homes. Thank you again for allowing us to photograph your home. We are proud to show it in our portfolio.

**★★★★★ — b3nw31, Aug. 2016**

> We hired Paul Bentham to design our kitchen for a substantial remodeling project for our townhouse. Paul did an excellent job at all phases of the project, from educating us on our options to incorporating our feedback on his design to supervising the work by our contractor. The end result was an award winning kitchen that was even better than we had imagined.
>
> We would not hesitate to recommend Paul to anyone, and we will definitely use him again when we decide to remodel our master bathroom (after we have recovered from our kitchen remodel).

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much for your compliments. Renovations can be strenuous, but when you have an expert designer to guide you through the process, it makes the process easier. You're definitely an award-winner!

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Penick, July 2016**

> Working with Sarah at Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath was a thoroughly positive experience. Sarah had a great eye for details, an excellent sense of design, was diplomatic when working with the many personalities involved, and she understood our style and encouraged us to make choices that really suited us. (She gently prompted us to include accessories that we didn't think seemed important but have proved to be the kinds of choices that made our kitchen not only award-winning (Home & Design magazine), but also our favorite room in the house, hands down!

**Comment from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath:**

> Thank you so much for your complimentary review. Our designers pride themselves on their ability to listen to their clients and implement clients' aspirations for their new spaces. Your bright new kitchen expresses your aesthetic well, from the unique backsplash tile to the floating shelves that hold your precious collectibles. We hope you enjoy entertaining family and guests there for many years to come.

> Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath is a top notch firm known for spaces which are functional, beautiful, and respect the client's overall wish list from top to bottom! Having worked on a four story renovation in Old Town, Alexandria, gave me a glimpse into working with a great team of professionals, and Jennifer herself was quite inspiring.
> As the interior designer on the job, JGK&B raised the bar on the Kitchen and three Bathrooms. It was wonderful to see it come to fruition, and then later having the project publicised. Looking forward to working with this team in the near future.

> After 2 years of extensive research we finally made the decision to renovate our 1994 kitchen. Paul Bentham of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath would be the only designer from our first meeting that knew exactly what we wanted. Paul's capability to see beyond our drab, outdated kitchen is beyond comparison. Our kitchen has been transformed into a contemporary room of spectacular opulence. The sheer simplicity of Paul Bentham's design is what make's this kitchen so unbelievably stunning. With beauty came complete functionality and our cabinets are capacious and sleek. Paul's kitchen design was so incredibly beautiful, we decided to completely renovate the entire 1st floor. Thanks to Paul Bentham and Mike Thornton (contractor) we have a new home and never had to move. I could go on forever about Paul Bentham's expertise and vision but it's best when you experience it yourself. Kathy & Michael Brown thank you for an outstanding experience!!!

> After living in our home for 22 years, our 1985 kitchen cabinets were beginning to fall off their hinges. Time for a change, don't you think? So we walked into Jennifer Gilmer's bath and kitchens, and just clicked from the beginning with Paul Bentham. He was personable, quick, and full of ideas. This was a complete gut job, and being two busy professionals, we needed someone truly knowledgeable and engaged who would help ease the process. Who would ever think that a complete kitchen renovation would be a painless - might I say pleasurable- couple of months? But it was, because of Paul and his terrific team. Paul had strong ideas, and I must tell you, if you work with him, trust him with his vision, because he has a great one. I was reluctant to get rid of my Mexican terracotta tile floors, but I am thrilled with my hardwood floors Paul recommended, that now tie my family room to my kitchen beautifully - expanding the entire space! He also pushed for a center island in a chocolate brown Caesar stone. Again, this was completely outside my comfort zone. And today, it is the second most favorite thing about my new kitchen. And my third favorite thing? Yet again, another Paul Bentham Boy Wonder idea . . . a dark brown chocolate wall in the breakfast nook he designed, replete with gorgeous cream custom built-in benches. He narrowed our backspash choices to two, and the one we chose ..... reminds me of Jerusalem stone. . . . and it makes me wildly happy every morning as I wake up and make my coffee! Paul rocks, he is fun to work with, and has great ideas and vision. I wholeheartedly recommend Paul and team. And would use him again. (Already have signed him up!)

> I had the sincere pleasure to work with designer Sarah Kahn Turner at Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath in Bethesda, Maryland. Sarah completely transformed my dull, dated kitchen into a sleek, contemporary space with beautiful cabinetry and state-of-the-art appliances. Her cutting-edge design and “use of space” knowledge allowed me to enlarge my counter, island and food preparation areas and go the extra mile in outfitting my favorite and most used area in my house with a sophisticated, modern look. She listened to my likes and dislikes and created an elegant culinary living environment where I’m extremely proud to call home. Sarah is a very talented designer who has a keen sense of space and knowledge of the latest kitchen trends and classic designs.

> We were very fortunate to find Paul Betham with Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath to design our new kitchen. Upon a recommendation from a colleague, my husband and I stopped into the shop one Saturday morning to make an appointment. We were greeted by Paul and sold on his extensive knowledge and experience in kitchen design. He worked with our designer, Deborah Houseworth on color selection and introduced us to Michael Thorton, the outstanding contractor we used for installation. Along the way, we learned about Paul's superb technical skills and attention to every detail. Paul and the entire staff at Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath were unusually efficient at follow up and follow through. They helped make the entire renovation experience painless with a perfect result.

> I had the pleasure of hiring Paul Bentham, from Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath, who design my master bathroom, in a recently purchased condo. Paul worked with me to fully understand my vision and created a space that was true piece of art.
>
> The space was small and there were limitations because of the building. Paul took on this challenge and created a spectacular area of natural beauty. Additionally, he took a small closet nook and created a usable space that gives the bathroom additional square footage and storage. Paul is a visionary which allowed him to configure space that other designers did not see.
>
> His detail oriented personality, creativity and professionalism allowed for a smooth project, that stayed on schedule and was beyond gorgeous.
>
> I would highly recommend hiring Paul for any future designs.

> We worked with Meghan Browne at Jennifer Gilmer Kitchens and had a truly delightful experience! Meghan was very attentive to our needs, listened to our concerns, and was very responsive to emails and phone calls, frequently responding within hours. She has great ideas and followed through with every aspect of the project from conception to the final details. She worked well with our builder, Thorsen Builders, to cover any glitches or unanticipated issues that occur when remodeling.
>
> Now that we've lived in it a few months, we really appreciate how our kitchen works intuitively to meet all of our needs. We love the openness and brightness, and it's a welcoming space to cook, live and entertain.

> Paul Bentham transformed our original to the 1950s and awkwardly laid out kitchen into a thing of beauty. Paul has great taste and is very pleasant and professional to work with. Our kitchen was a complete gut job and required a new layout. Paul came up with a design that not only looks fantastic but also functions very well. He is also really good at coming up with one or two ideas on options for materials. I’m someone who thoroughly (and perhaps over) researches everything, and Paul made my life so much easier by offering very thoughtfully vetted choices. There are hundreds of options in finishes and materials for each aspect of a kitchen’s design. Having a great designer who helps you narrow the options and who considers the big picture makes the process much less daunting.
>
> For me, one key difference between Paul and other kitchen designers that I’ve met with is that others seemed focused on selling kitchen cabinets whereas Paul focused on creating a great design. I recommend him to all of my friends and neighbors who are in the market for a kitchen remodel.
>
> We hired M.R. Thornton & Sons to do the majority of the kitchen remodeling work. Mike and his team did great work in a timely manner. We lived in the home during the remodel and so we particularly appreciated how professional and easy they were to work with. We bought Wolf, Miele and Sub-Zero appliances. It was obvious that Adam and the rest of the guys were very familiar with these brands and installing them. I would recommend M.R. Thornton & Sons without any reservation for remodeling work.

> Finally the time to remodel the largest bathroom in the house came: THE MASTER BATHROOM!My family and I decided to go to Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath in Bethesda, MD and met with their designer, Paul Bentham.Paul Bentham is a top senior designer, his long years of expertise and hands-on the job made him a very refined designer, very creative with exquisite taste. From the minute you meet him, he shows a great deal of knowledge and professionalism, not only is he very pleasant and energetic but he likes to work closely with his clients in order to accommodate their needs and expectations.I must tell you that we had a very good experience and we are very happy with the outcome of the job and you must trust him when he makes a design and select colors.Yet one important thing to mention, even if Paul has a spectacular overall vision when he makes a design, selects items, mixes colors, it's very important to know that he is not rigid with his designs but he is very open minded and integrated our taste with his.It was such a pleasure working with him I highly recommend him if you plan to remodel your kitchen or bathroom."

> We are so glad we found Carolyn Thomas at Jennifer Gilmer when we were ready to remodel our bathrooms. She has years of experience and really understands the aesthetics and the mechanics of bathroom design. She was easy to work with (for us and the contractors) and understood what we wanted and what style appealed to us. We didn't think there was much that could be done to redesign the master bath because we did not want to enlarge it or relocate the tub, shower and sinks. However, Carolyn removed a closet and a tub platform, opened up the shower, and added new cabinets so that the master bath is much more functional. She helped us find wonderful tile, cabinets, counters, and fixtures. She produced beautiful designs for cabinets, mirrors, and tile work. (The patterns in her tile lay-outs are amazing.) The transformation in both rooms is visually stunning. Four years later we are still thrilled with her work.

> Our kitchen cabinets, purchased through Kitchen Designers Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath, were installed in 2002. (Premier brand). They are beautiful and we have so enjoyed our kitchen, designed by JG Kitchens, but noticed recently that some of the cabinet doors had faded.
>
> Photos were taken by the Gilmer rep and sent to Premier. It was noted that some of the finish used on the cabinet doors was defective.
>
> A workman dismantled the doors in question, Premier took them to be refinished at their factory. Three weeks later they were returned and re-installed. Beautiful job!!!! Efficient and prompt...with fine workmanship.
>
> All in all, a pleasant and professional experience. Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath stands by their work. I would recommend this company in a minute to anyone looking for highest quality workmanship for a new or remodeled kitchen.

> I had the opportunity to collaborate with JGKB again this year on a double bath renovation for a mutual client. Senior designer Paul Bentham was indispensable in the execution of both projects, ensuring that the conceptual design was translated fluidly, and that every detail was completed with exacting precision. The results speak for themselves, and I am sure my clients will be enjoying the results of this collaboration for many years to come. Many Thanks!

> We are truly fortunate to have had Carolyn Thomas from Jennifer Gilmer to guide us through re-building a master bath . Her eye to detail and discriminating artistic style has transformed the 1980's bathroom into a bathing sanctuary. Ms. Thomas worked closely with our contractor as well as being available to answer technical questions and discuss esthetics of design with us as well as with our contractor and his team. This collegial approach resulted in an exquisite design and functionality; and, adherence to a timely schedule. All costs and budgets were disclosed early in the process and we did not experience lag time or cost overruns. This is our first design experience and we will be working with Jennifer Gilmer in the planning/designing of our kitchen.

> Paul Bentham of JGKB took our design and improved upon it with his knowledge of design trends. He suggested some features that we did not think of and was able to help us choose cabinetry that matched our style. He understood the look we wanted to achieve and helped us think outside of the box, i.e. choosing drawers instead of traditional doors for our modern kitchen.

> Carolyn Thomas at Gilmer did a great job redesigning our small master bath to provide significantly more storage, a much better layout, and a realization of the oasis I was seeking. The bath is now much more consonant with our bungalow home and it's a pleasant place to hang out. Gilmer handled all aspects of the project which made it a time saver for us and simplified our decision making. The project was characterized by very high quality workmanship by the contractors they recommended, too.

> My wife and I have been living in our current house for fifteen years. We've grown tired of the builder-quality kitchen which was starting to show signs of wear and tear in terms of appliances and cabinets breaking down, in addition to the fact that we did not have enough storage space for our cooking utensils, etc. We decided that it was time to find someone to remodel our kitchen. Our first and last stop was at the Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen and Bath show room in Bethesda, Maryland. After we met with designer Paul Bentham and explained to him what we needed in our kitchen, we decided that he should be the one to design our kitchen. We are yet to meet a designer as knowledgeable as Paul in all aspects of building, material, and remodeling, not to mention his good taste in coordinating shapes and colors and his passion for symmetry and perfection.
>
> In order to provide us with the best quality and the best remodeling results, and before we signed any contracts with JGKB, Paul came to our house several times so that he could take final measurements and to review our orders for the cabinetry, the appliances, the lighting and practically everything that had to do with our new kitchen.
>
> Paul introduced us to the general contractor Michael Thornton who did a superb job to our kitchen along with his team of experienced and courteous professionals. The remodeling project progressed very smoothly and without any delays. All I had to do was sit back and relax while Paul was making sure that everything went along according to plan.

> We had just completed a complete and phenomenal kitchen renovation with JKGB and Paul Bentham as the master designer, and Marnic Construction implementing the design. The dust had barely settled when my husband had the brilliant idea to start tearing apart our master bath. Within a few weeks, Paul had an incredible design and layout, and we immediately began seeking out tile, cabinetry and flooring. The finished product is beyond my wildest dreams! The window and mirror are strategically aligned to add depth and contour to the room. The sleek finish, warm tones and fantastic layout allows you to feel like you’ve escaped to an island oasis. I could not be happier with the final outcome. Our bathroom is nothing short of breathtaking!

Jennifer came to the house and with an hour we had a new design we loved. The company was terrific to work with and the final product is jaw dropping. Meghan and Jennifer helped and directed us through all steps as we needed a lot of hand holding. A friend referred the company to us and we have since referred others. > Jennifer and her team renovated a 26 year old kitchen in a 100 year old Victorian house. She listened well to my design ideas & preferences, "got it" immediately, and designed the perfect kitchen, within budget. Very practical and knowledgeable on where to splurge and where it wasn't necessary...how and where significant money can be saved to achieve the highest effect, e.g. use 2 flat, off the shelf doors to come together at an angle, and have the granite top above them be rounded, rather than custom make curved doors. It all reads "curve" without the expense.. She and her team are patient, creative and a total joy to work with.

> My experience remodeling my Master Bath could not have better. Although I knew the process would be stressful, my designer, Carolyn Thomas, broke the decisions into manageable steps so that I had time to reflect on my decisions before the renovation began. Carolyn took the time to listen to my needs and incorporate these needs (better lighting, higher countertops, more storage space, large shower stall, etc.) into her drawings. In addition, she suggested several changes (cove ceiling, heated shower floor and bench, etc.) that I had never considered but I accepted because of her years of experience and great handle on the overall design. Once construction began, she visited the site regularly and suggested further modifications to improve the overall look. Carolyn was always available to answer questions. The end result was far better than I could have ever imagined. I now have a modern, well appointed Master Bath that I enjoy daily and know will be a huge selling point when I come to sell my home.

> When I decided to remodel our two bathrooms, I asked two contractors to present cost. The first contractor's bid was $6K for each bathroom. It sounded too low. The second contractor's bid was $16K for each. Since I still had some doubts, I decided to take a look at Jennifer Gilmer. That is when I first met Ms. Carolyn Thomas. Following her presentation on how they handle contracts my wife and I decided to ask her to prepare a plan for each bathroom. Our house was built in 1959 and I guess bathrooms were not considered important parts of houses at that time and that may be the reason why they were built small. The day Ms. Thomas came by to take measurements I watched her carefully. When she walked into the master bathroom, she made an interesting sound. It made feel as if a surgeon was looking at a very very sick patient. Those bathrooms were in bad shapes. Throughout the duration for each job she was very hands on and her attention to details amazed me. Being an engineer, I understood and really appreciated her vision on the designs. She increased our master bathroom's size and just by adding about 20" to the floor size which was all she had to work with, it made all the difference. Also her choice of the subcontractor was great. Cracovia is a great company, very professional and clean. They are very punctual and at the end of daily work they clean all areas. I decided to continue to use Cracovia for other remodeling projects we have. I am extremely happy with the choice I made to hire Jennifer Gilmer and I highly recommend Ms. Thomas.

Took about six months to get adjusted to the new space, especially which cabinets we put stuff in, but now it's second nature except for my teenage boys and cleaning woman who all like to randomly put things away.

> Our designer Lauren was great to work with and when we had several glitches (e.g, range was a lemon) over the first few months, she interceded with the appliance store to work things out (eventually Thermador replaced the range). Having now lived with our kitchen for almost a year, we really appreciate Lauren's expertise and quality of her work. If we had to choose a designer again, we would definitely choose her again. Carolyn worked tirelessly to find ceramic tiles with the “bling” factor I was looking for. The custom fitted marble counter is a show-stopper and the custom cabinets amply provide the storage space missing from the original floor plan. With a few key, killer elements, she took our project in directions we didn't know even existed. As it unfolded, we were so happy with the progress that we expanded the scope from a single kitchen renovation, to also including two adjoining rooms. She created common elements and a color palette to tie the rooms together, while still giving each its own identity. > I used this company to remodel my kitchen several years ago and most recently two upstairs bathrooms. Before the kitchen project, I had done a lot of research and knew pretty much what I wanted. Jennifer was able to provide a design that gave me even more than what I wanted. She found a place to squeeze in a little desk in my small kitchen that we could not live without now. I was very pleased with the hand holding she did spending a half a day at the tile store and the fixtures place and finding me the best appliances and guiding me through the process. She and her staff are always very responsive with any questions about anything. She also recommended an excellent contractor we used again for the second project. I have been over the top happy with the kitchen.
>
> For the bathroom project, I was less prepared, and had a less extravagant budget. Everything in the old bathrooms was broken and they just had to be done. Jennifer told me she had some overstock tile she would sell me for a good price, which was great, so we built the bathroom color scheme around the grey tile. Her design skills were still very creative, but as she admits and I soon learned, there are a number of practical and technical details when it comes to bathrooms that make them trickier. I don't think Jennifer is as well versed in those and I wish we had consulted more closely with the contractor. For instance, the shower heads had to be placed differently than in the original design because the water would have hit the door leaked onto the floor. Now the water shoots the width of the shower which makes it less roomy feeling. There were some plumbing fixtures that had to be changed because of the water flow capacity as well. We chose them based on budget not realizing until the contractor saw them that they would not work well. Jennifer also uses a tile store that has an incredible selection. However, they made several mistakes re: what tile was really in stock and letting an order sit on someone's desk for 3 weeks which ultimately delayed the project while we waited for the tile. I am happy with the bathrooms.
> Overall I would highly recommend the company. I would highly recommend Jennifer for kitchen design. There might be another designer at the company who is better at dealihng with the details of bathrooms.

Everyone had a great experience. Now that I’ve worked with Jennifer and her firm, and talk to others, I realize how well established and respected she is in DC. This is well deserved. We spent a long time visiting various design shops and interviewing different designers. We were very discouraged by the process until we met Jennifer. Our first design session was fantastic – she approached the meeting with a great deal of creative energy and listened to what we were trying to create (both in function and aesthetics). I love to cook – so function was important, but I’m also really picky about things looking good and didn’t want function to impact the “look.” Jennifer made it work – and I love end product. I can honestly say that I “enjoy” my kitchen on a daily basis.

One of the more remarkable things about Jennifer is her ability to think "on the spot", reviewing options during even the first consultation with a client.
>
> She and her design and management staff deliver service from the conceptual beginnings of a project, all the way through the design and construction phases of a project, working with clients and design team members in a collaborative manner. I highly recommend Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath!

  - Description: The owners of this treasured family home from the 1930s asked us to create a timeless and efficient kitchen as part of a whole house renovation. Taking cues from the new beamed ceiling we used a combination of cherry and painted off-white cabinets to create a warm and functional layout. Framed wall panels with maple burl flank the hood, new large angled window at the sink wall, and wall adjacent to the wall ovens. These create a beautiful back drop for decorative sconces. Burl end panels are als…

  - Description: Our homeowners live right in the heart of Middleburg, VA and instead of leaving their prime location, they decided to build an addition to get the much needed extra space. The new kitchen is located partially in the new space and partially in the existing space. This provided a unique set of design challenges. A stand-alone range from AGA was installed under a new tiled in the hood. This provided a much-needed design element and a place to embrace their love for cooking. Inset cabinets provide a…

  - Description: The clients purchased a townhouse with water views after deciding to downsize. The existing kitchen had limited access to the rest of the house and the dining room had all the views. We suggested removing the wall but were met with resistance to letting go of that “traditional dining room” they had for so long. Once the demo started and the cabinets were already on order, they finally decided that the wall needed to go which made for a much more casual space. We were able to adjust the plan and…

  - Description: Changing the basic laminate kitchen in this Bethesda home was really an easy choice, with the original kitchen forming u shape and a small island in the center incorporating the cooktop, breaking up all flow to the living area and any type of preparation area. With a distinct lack of storage and appliances situated in odd positions, the kitchen was incredibly disjointed. Once starting the renovation the clients were open to all design ideas but wanted to keep a distinct timeless look in the room…

  - Description: The original kitchen was completely closed off to the other spaces in the house, making the existing kitchen footprint cramped and unsocial. We decided to take down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room. In addition, we opened up the landing space behind the kitchen that leads to the basement from the front foyer. These small adjustments in the footprint completely transformed the flow of the kitchen from a closed-off separate room into the center of the home. It also allowed us to ad…

  - Description: The original kitchen was isolated from the rest of the condo. Soffits were everywhere, closing in the space. The door into the kitchen is on an angle so the original design used this as a design statement with an angled corner wall cabinet and a very large angled pantry in one corner. Our goal was to create a more open feeling by taking down most of the wall between the dining room and the kitchen, by removing as many soffits as possible, and by eliminating all angles. Not only do these take up…

  - Description: Modern Beach Retreat Kitchen in Fenwick Island, DE Designed by Meghan Browne This waterfront home along the Delaware shores needed a complete design overhaul. The previous layout included an awkwardly located island and an uninspiring design palette. The design revamps features sleek modern materials paired with a warm rift white oak. - Description: The previous builder-grade kitchen felt drab and heavy even for a space flooded with natural light. We set out to create a bright, open kitchen with clean lines, but also giving a nod to the home’s original 1920 character. Instead of immediately going to a white painted cabinet in order to achieve a bright kitchen, we decided to focus on warmer materials in a white oiled rift white oak and a walnut island. The walnut island was built as a custom freestanding piece with open shelf storage below.…

  - Description: This house is a modern split level which had a traditional kitchen in natural maple, raised panel doors. The style of the kitchen definitely did not compliment the style of the house. In addition, the kitchen was contained and closed off from the adjacent nice sized family room. Although there are several windows, the kitchen always seemed to be a bit dreary. At family gatherings, everyone would congregate in the kitchen which would get very crowded and those that were sitting in the family room…

  - Description: This Alexandria, VA kitchen needed a major update when homeowners called on the design team to reimagine the space. The existing kitchen included details that worked well for the homeowners, including the layout of the kitchen, the large window above the sink, and the sunroom off the kitchen which allows light to flood into space. It was a matter of updating and improving upon these features to serve the space better. When it came time to select kitchen materials, we opted for a timeless blue, w…

  - Description: After tackling several remodeling projects on the bedroom level when they first moved into the house a few years ago, the clients thought it was finally time to address the kitchen. They had lived in it and knew now what didn’t work for them, the first of many being the heavy French Country Style. Originally from California, Mrs. Byers had grown up with a mid-century modern aesthetic and a love for native Heath Ceramics which is made in San Francisco. That was the launching point of the project.…

  - Description: The client’s decision to renovate his master bath was to make the space brighter and more open. Originally, there was a solid double-doored entrance from the master bedroom. We recommended replacing these doors with a frosted glass pocket door. The client also felt that, by doing away with a seldom-used tub, a small shower, and two separate vanities, space would naturally become more open. Since the client didn’t require a new tub in his bathroom, this gave us an opportunity for more design opti…

  - Description: Designed by Jennifer Gilmer. Magically, this kitchen seemed to triple in size. The kitchen, butler pantry, sunroom, and “other” room were the only spaces left to complete the renovation in this very elegant home. The client had a room which he referred to as the “other” room, because it was located next to the kitchen, without access to the kitchen. It is located off of the main living room and opens up to a long and narrow sunroom on the back of the house. It had a built-in bar in the same wall…

  - Description: Not new to the remodeling process the clients decided after their children were grown to move into downtown Bethesda and enjoy the walking community. They started with scratch with Architect Anne Decker and Builder Jim Gibson. We were brought in to design the kitchen and make sure the kitchen functioned as the client lived. Entertaining and a healthy lifestyle were the inspiration here. We added retractable doors to the smoothie station where the client has fridge drawers for fresh veggies and f…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where did you find the counter chairs?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Please share the make and model of these beautiful counter stools. Thank you.

A: Hi Marie,

Thank you! Unfortunately, the client worked with an interior designer to source these counter stools. We have no record of what was chosen.

**Q: what is the name of the counter top quartz** *(in Photo Questions)*

Do you have a name of the counter top and back splash design?

A: Hi- this is a Calacutta Marble in a honed finish. It is a natural marble, not a quartz.

**Q: How did you fortify seal on marble?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you do something special to seal the Calcutta Marble? It is gorgeous and is what I want, but the stone yards keep telling me “don’t do it, they will stain and etch.”

A: Hi- there is not anything different you can do to seal Calacutta marble. It will be susceptible to staining and etching so it is something you will need to accept if you decide to go with Calacutta. We do, however, always recommend the countertop be honed, not polished. A honed finish will minimize the appearance of the scratching and etching. I hope this helps!

**Q: is the kitchen counter that looks like wood actually wood or some type** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the kitchen counter that looks like wood, actually wood or some engineered stone?

A: Hi Claudia- this is a tall cabinet in the hallway (not a kitchen working surface) and the countertop material is painted wood to match cabinetry.

**Q: Gorgeous kitchen** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the countertop you used for this kitchen?

A: Hi- A white quartz was used for the countertops. Thank you!

**Q: What color are the cabinets ? Are they an off white?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the kitchen cabinet color, I am looking to something similar but I am not wanting "white" cabinets.

A: Hi Angela- the cabinets are a custom milk paint finish which is a 2 layer paint system. The colors used on these cabinets are a Benjamin Moore White Dove and White. I find White Dove to be the perfect warm "off white". Good luck!
