It isn't complete yet but we're so pleased, I can't wait till the end to say so. We hired Vivienne in 2012 to gut & update our kitchen & the entire house cosmetics: flooring, texture, paint, baseboards, fixtures. We'd heard so many remodeling horror stories, of course we were nervous. With Vivienne we needn’t have been. We were so pleased with the process & outcome that we hired her for 2 more phases: laundry room & all bathrooms. This entailed 3 projects over a 2-yr span. Obviously we were happy or we wouldn't have hired her back TWICE. Last year we sold the home. The beauty/functionality of design was specifically noted by the buyers as cementing their decision. We moved out of state to a house that's perfect in overall layout but outdated & less-than-optimal in function w/ an unworkable kitchen. There was no question but that we'd ask Vivienne if she would work long distance. She had us take appx measurements then provided 3 designs, setting a phone appt to explain the concepts. We chose one that was particularly innovative, a really inspired use of our space. She flew out here for about 4 days to get precise measurements & to tirelessly help us w/ product education & selection. After she got here, we decided to hire her not just for the kitchen, but for the entire house – bathrooms, laundry room, fireplace, an odd niche in a back hallway. So she adjusted on the fly, drew up designs, and we got ALL the product selection done at that time. We expect this to be our last house & want it geared to aging in place. Vivienne is “living-in-place” certified (CLIPP) and really knows the products & features to serve us well into the future. > We'd had trouble getting a good clean transparent contract w/ the General Contractor we’d chosen. She helped coach us with that, ultimately helping us select a different contractor. She worked with our GC to schedule the delivery of the cabinetry, then flew up again to check it all in. Since cabinets were placed or replaced in 8 different areas, she not only made certain everything was delivered, but she color-coded the boxes by room for the cabinet installer. She provided us with a detailed client project binder & our GC w/ detailed plans organized by subcontractor specialty. Our GC & subcontractors are impressed by her working plans b/c they make the execution easier, straightforward, unambiguous. They all appreciate her thorough understanding of construction. She's been readily available when we have a question or need her opinion. When an unexpected behind-the-drywall issue has arisen, we've had a quick phone meeting & she comes up with a good solution every time. It might seem frivolous to bring a designer 2000 miles, but with Vivienne, we knew we'd get exactly we want, and we knew that any good GC would be very satisfied with her designs to achieve our goals. If you hire Vivienne and a GC that follows her designs, you can have complete confidence. She has done two projects for us. I first used Vivienne for a kitchen remodel on our 1964 home. She came, found out our wants, needs and answered questions. I was blown away when she returned with 4 possible solutions in a binder that we could take to any contractor to use. We decided to use a contractor she often worked with, G+C Construction, and decided on the one solution we liked best. She accompanied us to product shops for granite, tile, sink and hardware. She checked back with us as the remodel progressed and caught a misstep when the granite was being installed. She even designed the backsplash for our stove. She is like a miracle worker. I feel I can say that as I have a sister who has her own commercial design company, who learned a few tricks from Vivienne because she specializes in kitchens. We LOVE our new kitchen. It has everything we need and want and has increased the value of our home. > Because she had done such a marvelous job on the kitchen, we asked if she did bathrooms too and thankfully, she did. Again, she did the info gathering and measuring for a master and a guest bath. Again, we chose the design we wanted. This included greatly increasing the size of a shower and closet. She accompanied us to source stores for tubs, sinks, tiles, and hardware. She was with us every step of the way. She greatly assisted with the “aging in place” concept and helped make it a place we hope to stay in for many years. > Vivienne was a joy to work with. She was easy-going, personable and never pushy. She educated us along the way on things that work and things that don’t work as well. Design is her passion, and you could see it in everything she did. Budget wise, hiring Vivienne, a certified designer, saved us from making costly mistakes and she provided so much assistance throughout both projects. She was much more reasonably priced than I could imagine. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Originally, we were just going to get ideas from her, but after the consultation, we knew we wanted her for the complete design package. Vivienne returned two weeks later with 4 complete designs for us to review. One of the designs, in her words, was “thinking outside of the box”. We definitely knew that she had listened to our ideas when we looked at her designs. We picked the design that suited us best, which was the one outside the box, but also included things most important to us. She made the entire process much less stressful for us and our contractor with the detailed design portfolio. It should be noted that we purchased our cabinets through Vivienne and we couldn’t be happier with them. Vivienne was on the scene when the kitchen cabinets and quartz countertops were delivered and installed and was always available to answer any questions we or our contractor had. Vivienne was a wealth of knowledge as where to go when it came time to choose flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, backsplash and fixtures.
