> Sheri is extremely knowledgeable about all the ‘finishing touches’ to make your home comfortable and beautiful. She does the work herself from design to production to installation. Sheri is very price sensitive, always suggesting less expensive options. You never feel over sold. Sheri also worked tirelessly with us for a year on our window treatments always willing to explore different ideas and happy to return time and again with new samples. My husband and I appreciated Sheri’s kindness, generosity and professionalism, often a rare combination. She’s a joy to work with!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Kimberly, I appreciate the kind words! It has been a pleasure working with you on your beautiful home over the last year!

> Thank you Sheri for helping us put the finishing touches on our remodel. We love the blinds and custom drapes! Choosing the right fabric and blinds could have been overwhelming but you made it easy! The custom drapes are perfect! We encountered a small snafu but through your problem solving and diligence to provide an exceptional product, you have exceeded our expectations! We feel comfortable calling with any concerns and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Mayme,
> I really enjoyed working with you on your job! I want every job to be the beautiful and every client to be happy with the end result! While you and I were both disappointed in the gap of the metal headrail of the roller shades, I was thankful I could come up with a great solution to resolve the gap! The end result was much more beautiful! Enjoy!

Communication was easy, and we were well informed of timelines! Wow, we are 100% thrilled with every piece that she created for us!! Her craftsmanship is absolutley flawless, and Sheri went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. > Sheri was a joy to work with! From the first consultation to the stunning end result, Sheri took the time to get to know us and the look we wanted for our new house. Her ideas, design expertise, and professionalism made this process smooth and enjoyable. We could not be happier with the gorgeous window treatments Sheri created and installed! Our new home is more beautiful for her work!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Sara,
> It was such a pleasure working with you and Chris on this 9 month, new home process! The best part is seeing the beautiful results after months of selecting, planning, and installing. I can't wait to see the house now that the boxes are unpacked!

> I had the pleasure of working with Sheri on several projects throughout our new home and she was professional, creative, efficient and super communicative. Sheri helped design, create and install window treatments, tailored drapery, as well as custom cushions for benches and banquet seating. She is amazing at her craft, has an organized process from intake of what is of interest, presenting ideas, taking extensive measurement, pictures, from creating the product, install and providing before and after photos. She is extremely reliable, trustworthy and thorough. I continue to go back to Sheri for additional work throughout our home, even just advice...she is an absolute dream to work with!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Melissa,
> It has been such a pleasure working on your home and watching the transformation in each room! Wishing you all the best with the new addition to the family!!!!!

**★★★★★ — Julia Z., Feb. 2023**

> Sheri is absolutely amazing. I am a CT based designer and was looking for a workroom in the Denver area. I am so lucky to have found Sheri and Finishing Touches. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable, but also easy to communicate with. She kept me in the loop and was so helpful in addressing and resolving any issues that arose along the way. Her work product is top notch (she tackled everything from drapery, romans, woven shades, pillow covers and bench cushions). She also was great with the client (who mentioned numerous times how helpful Sheri was in addition to raving about the finished product). I cannot recommend her enough!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Julia,
> It was such a pleasure working with you on this project and thank you for trusting me with your beautiful vision. It has been so fun to see the transformation on your client's home! And it was also such a pleasure working with such fun fabrics. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience working with me, and if you ever have another project in the area I would love to work with you again!

> Sheri, as an owner operator of Finishing Touches has repeatedly demonstrated attention to detail! The selection of materials has been tremendous in my opinion. Her guidance in design for each room was most helpful! Every guest to our home has complimented the window coverings and their beautiful effect.
> She is our go to person now and forever. I strongly urge you to use her talents for your home. You will be delighted with the results!

**★★★★★ — Catherine Kilstrom, Aug. 2022**

> Sheri's professionalism and attention to detail is amazing. We recently moved into a new house and utilized her talents for all of our window coverings. The quality of her work is exceptional, along with her designing expertise that helped make our new house a home. Without reservation, I give her 5+ stars and highly recommend her work and partnership!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Cathy,
> It was so fun to work with you and Jim on your new beautiful home! It didn't come without some challenges- ceiling mounts, bent 90 degree drapery rods, double layers, etc. In the end all the extra preparation and double checking paid off and the installs went in smoothly and the job looked amazing! Enjoy!

**★★★★★ — Amy Williams, Aug. 2022**

> Sheri was so helpful in choosing the right shades for our new home (motorized roller shades over our big sliding glass doors, and top down/bottom up cellular shades everywhere else). Pricing was very competitive. Quick delivery and installation. She even came back to our house to help us when we were having difficulties. I highly recommend Sheri and Finishing Touches.

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Amy, I enjoyed working with you on your new home and thank you for the kind words! As the owner of the business, I feel that service is very important!

> It is an absolute pleasure to work with Sheri! She worked closely with me on choices of fabrics, styles, sizes, hardware choices, and all of the details that go into our beautiful custom window treatments. Sheri came to my home completely prepared with 'lots' of fabric samples and multiple styles and colors of window shades. Once Sheri had a feel for my likes and dislikes, style of my home, obstacles to overcome (and there were many), she immediately ordered lots fabric samples to choose from. Samples came quickly through the mail directly to me. Once choices were made for Hunter Douglas shades for 3 bedrooms and baths, they were ordered and installed within 8 weeks. Final decisions on drapery fabrics and hardware were made for living room, dining room, master bedroom & bath were ordered, fabricated and installed within 8 weeks (before Christmas as I had requested). Sheri's fabrication methods are very detail oriented. She has a passion for her work, is meticulous, and has a determination for the perfect outcome. We have many more windows to address with treatments. Sheri is the only designer and fabricator that I want to work with.

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Sherry,
>
> It is such a pleasure working with you and yes, we had some challenges with the window frame designs! I LOVED how everything turned out and complemented with your interior design!

**★★★★★ — Andrea, Sept. 2021**

> Finishing Touches is phenomenal! The curtains Sheri made for our family room were so well crafted we hired her to come back and make cafe curtains for our kitchen. They are on trend and meticulously crafted. One other side note: her installation crew is just as meticulous as Sheri is.

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Andrea, Thank you for the kind words! It has been such a pleasure working with you on your beautiful home! Now that the remodel construction is finally over, take a moment and enjoy! Many thanks, Sheri

**★★★★★ — Monica Protz, July 2021**

> Sheri helped us with window coverings for a new house and the service was fantastic from start to finish. She helped us pick out the right shades for each room and made sure everything was installed correctly. I highly recommend Sheri at Finishing Touches!

**Comment from Finishing Touches:**

> Monica,
> Thank you for the kind words and your patience with the bathroom shade. This last year has been challenging with vendors having difficulty getting fabrics, parts, and delays occurring along the way. Enjoy your new home and new shades!

French drapery rods were the hardware choice with traversing blackout linen drapes for all the kid's rooms. For the guest room, we ordered a custom color rod from ONA in a warm bronze color. This selection was made because it coordinated with the hardware on the dresser handles. The drapes soften and give dimension to the windows, absorb sound in all the rooms, and create room darkening privacy.

For the kitchen, we replaced the relaxed roman with a neutral woven wood that picked up the granite and lighter colors. In the sitting study we removed the dark wood shutters and added Hunter Douglas Silhouettes -giving the ablility to control the natural lighting. The silhouettes were layered with a sheer like casement fabric to soften the room. In the kitchen and family area we added dimension and interest with woven woods hung about 7" above the window to create more height. The Bay Area was carefully ordered to work with the angles. In the dining room, the client had traversing drapes from her last home. Unfortunately, they were too short to use at her new home. I added an 18" band to the bottom of the drape in a color that worked with the damask fabric and tied nicely to the new hardware color. I pleated the top in a new pleat style. A perfect exampl…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the backsplash. Where is it from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I find this backsplash?

A: Unfortunately, the house was built by someone else prior to designing these roman shades.

**Q: Love the valence fabric, what fabric brand and make is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love that it is so light and airy. I am wondering what fabric this is?

A: Hi Dina, Unfortunately that job was done many years ago and the fabric is no longer available. If you search, you might find something similar. Good luck!

Sheri

**Q: What color are the walls** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the paint color on the walls.

A: Unfortunately, I do not know what the paint color is . The room was painted prior to working on this job.

**Q: Love the drapes, where are they from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How can we purchase material and / or drapes?

A: Thank you! The drapes were custom made for a client in Denver, CO. This job is about 4 years ago, so I am not sure if the fabric is still available. If you want to create this look, I would contact a local drapery workroom in your area. Sheri

**Q: Need your advice on replacement blinds. Your help is appreciated.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I live in a townhouse built in 2007. It came with white wooden blinds for all windows and vertical blinds for the patio door. I need to replace the kitchen blinds as the windows a face west and the cords and blinds are not looking good due to the strong sun and heat. I hoped to choose something different than the white slats. I wondered about solar shades. I am cautious about white as there is an apartment building and parking lot next door and the blinds become very dirty if the window is open.
My dh thinks they should be the color of the walls or cabinets. The walls are Benjamin Moore Wind’s breath. The cabinets are maple. I believe that the granite is Uba Tuba verde.
Any suggestions are most appreciated.

A: The one thing with the screen shades is that you do want to look at the fabric in the glass during the day to see how the color of the screen shade transmits its color. Sometimes the color cast a different color than what you might expect. Note that 3% will allow people to see in the space at night when the lights are on in the room.

**Q: Alternative to shutters - light, privacy & safety** *(in Home Decorating)*

My windows don't provide enough room for inset shutters unless I go with 2.5 inch levours. I want shutters because I would like to be able to adjust the levours to allow in light, but block an ugly view on some windows & in the kids rooms for safety (no cords). Are there any alternatives that meet all of these criteria? Currently we have the woven wood roman shade style blinds, but the cords make me nervous with kids (5yo and 2yo). The kids rooms each have a window that either looks at a driveway/security light or a brick wall/security light. They both have blackout curtains, but I would like to add the shutters so I can get some light during the day, but not the ugly view. Are the 2.5 levours a good idea - too small? not contemporary? etc? Or is there a good alternative that can also stand up to the wear and tear of kids? Thanks!

A: Shutters are classic and transitional! As a window treatment specialist, I highly recommend Hunter Douglas Newstyle and Norman Woodlore. (Not a fan of HD Palm Beach- mine have turned yellow twice since I have been in the house in 8 years- HD replaced the first set). You can do an outside mount on the frame. As long as the trim isn't super wavy, it doesn't look bad and saves money on redoing trim. Most people want more view through and do a hidden tilt bar. Because you have limited depth, there is one distinct difference between Norman and HD. Norman makes their hidden tilt inside the frame so that you don't need an extra 3/8" behind the shutter for operation. HD has an exposed bar on the back.
Some pros to shutters: great insulation, can do a split tilt bar to allow 1/2 shutter to open , while bottom stays closed, good on resale, no cords :).
