Any suggestions for something we can use to cover this up would be much appreciated... we don't want to use a round moulding that looks like an afterthought. Thanks! A: It is typical to install cabinets before the flooring. A floating wood floor has to be free to expand and contract and that's not possible with heavy cabinets resting on top. Additionally, it would be difficult to cut out the strips that extend under the cabinets if you ever wanted to replace the flooring. Not to mention spending money on a surface you'll never see; and run the risk of scratching your new floor if you install the cabinets after it's in place. Most cabinets have a toe kick, which was likely assumed by the flooring installer in this case. It appears there was a miscommunication regarding not have a toe kick moulding or otherwise the flooring installer would have or "should have" made his cuts tighter so that the floor would have touched the base of the cabinet. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
