As a historic home we did not have much space to work with but the Siglo Tub from Signature Hardware was perfect for the space. **Q: Cabinet Feedback** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are building in one of our local developments and are trying to decide on cabinets. I like dark/white mix but the white is an upgrade so nix that. We thought we were going with the dark brown shaker with a sleek modern cabinet pull, but now my husband is leaning more toward the dark brown raised panel (style of the photo on the left but color of the one on the right) - ironically the same style in our current house but darker. I really liked the color of the lighter cabinet on the left and through about doing the island in that color and the rest in the dark. He isn't a fan of that. Now I'm thinking maybe the two bathrooms in the lighter color (he's still wanting dark all the way through the house). Any thoughts? I love the color of the one on the left, but am a little concerned it might look out dated. We've always had the same cabinets throughout and part of me wants to be daring and adventurous. Thank you for any feedback. A: I have been with many clients at just such a cross road. Budget is always a concern, but I can hear your decision in your comments. Pay for the upgrade. Give up something less pivotal to the whole scope of YOUR vision. Maybe something that can be upgraded later. The other option is to pay for the clear finish now (least expensive), and save for the painted white upgrade later. Not a prefered option, but will work in a budget crunch. As you can see your budget is a concern for me, but it may not be such an issue for you. Either way, the "dated" cabinets will haunt you, if, heaven forbid, you sell. Have a Merry Christmas! **Q: How would you remodel this exterior** *(in Design Dilemma)* We need more room and the front needs help ! Tell me what you would do A: I suggest posting a rough sketch of your existing floor plan with overall dimensions and comments. Point out where you would like to see changes. I would love to help with ideas, but without a basic floor plan our ideas are only shots in dark. **Q: Living/Dining Room MEETS Office/Library/Toy Area! Help!** *(in Design Dilemma)* The last few years the view off of our front foyer entrance has equated to this... No furniture + kids +toys = EYE SOAR! And it MUST CHANGE...but I don't even know where to begin with a traditional style multi functioning open area. OBJECTIVE: Pull together (literally) a traditional style Living/Dinning room to meet the needs for a Mommy Office/Toy/Library/Sitting area. I still want it to look clean, crisp, and classy but still function for our needs. RIGHT NOW: My Desk is tucked away next to the stairs and for the most part out of site at first glance. The living room has pitiful Salvation Army/Walmart bookshelves with a hand-me-down loveseat against the potential accent wall. The "dinning" area is pretty much for the kids with no large furniture only plastic organizational bins covering my beautiful chair molding. IDEAS and HELP PLEASE!!! ~Barkersmile A: These pictures may not be the right color or layout, but consider using creative cabinetry to add flexibility. Instead of a collage of multipurpose, create a "transformer". With the use of custom drawers, wall niches, and counter tops (traditionally for the kitchen) you can keep order and style while flexible enough for a range of age needs. My advice is to find a local contractor and cabinet shop. Bring them over together for a consultation. It will be worth it. **Q: Looking for quartz designs** *(in Photo Questions)* Can you share counter manufacturer and color? A: The material is granite, and the supplier was a local vender. **Q: Help with choosing a window to replace large picture window.** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are replacing all of our windows in our home. The other windows will all be double hung windows. However, we do not want this large picture window any more for a number if reasons including air flow. Trying to decide if we will replace it with 4 double hung or casement windows. Will also be adding grilles and shutters. Or does anybody else have any additional suggestions? Have been going about this for a while now and cannot make a decision!
