## Community Q&A

**Q: TOO MUCH BLACK?** *(in Polls)*

We recently replaced our entry door, sidelites, and transom. I don't know how it happened but I now have a solid black door and, rather than the trim being WHITE (like it was before), everything is BLACK! I am sick! Please give your honest opinion and any suggestions as to this huge design dilemma!

A: It appears that the black does match the shutters. This is very common, but not absolutely necessary. Entry doors are often used to introduce a 3rd accent color. A painted door is a vast improvement. However, black has a tendency to get very hot and could cause some problems. You definitely want to stay on top of any maintenance necessary. I would also use a large pronounced exterior trim around the door (painted to match the exterior cornice work). This will soften the contrast.
