> Bid was roughly $19,000. Bill was $8,600 above that!!! We had substantial rot in our roof, which I specifically and repeatedly told their salesman, Sam, before the bid. Much of the rot was visible from the ground. Sam told me that they would fix it, and that I would only pay extra for additional rot that they found during the job because they couldn't see it all until they tore off the roof. But when the bill came about 2 weeks after the job was completed, the owners said that they put almost nothing in the bid for rot, and that the costs for virtually all the wood and labor were extra - $8,600 extra. They said that's how they always do it. The only number I received during the 2 weeks their workers were here was $500 for replacing fascia, and that was only after I repeatedly asked how much it would be to change out all the fascia. Changing the fascia was optional for me, and I only agreed to it because Sam told me it would be about $500. They are charging me more than $500 for the fascia boards alone, and substantially more for the labor of replacing them. After I refused to pay the $8,600 overage, they cut the bill to an additional $6,700. That's still 35% over their bid. Their contract says that I had to sign for any additional work over the contracted amount. I signed nothing during the process and was never given anything showing additional lumber or labor costs. They are refusing to honor that contract term. I liked their actual workers, but I could never recommend this company. They blindsided me, and now they expect me to pay for their employee's failure to give me accurate information about the bid, costs, and overruns.

> Very poor workmanship. Very dishonest. Had a leak and ceiling is damaged couldn't fix it in 4 trips and finally fixed almost 2 years since the work is done but refuse to address the damage made in the ceiling. Very deceptive in addressing issues. Inspected the damage and promised to fix it and sent the painter but after painter gave the bid refuse the fix it. So very very dishonest people. Even while replacing the roof they didn't secure the shingles bundle and fell in on the deck and frighten the entire family in the middle of the night. I have thought Matt was a honest man but he went quite after the issue started and the owners are very dishonest. Called many times and no followup for almost a year and finally refused to fix the damage. Two years of painful experience with poorly run company.

> After almost 2 years of an excruciatingly painful and frustrating process working with Pacific West Roofing Co including: no shows and numerous pushed out start dates; our roof being completely torn off in the middle of winter and left with only underlayment through 4 snow/ice storms; debris being strewn in our attic like kindling next to our gas furnace; extreme lack of communication or answers to our questions; police called to our house for storage of materials on street without permit, parking heavy duty equipment and cracking our neighbors driveway, not remedying cracked driveway for 8 months; installing gutters on only half of our house; tacking thousands of extras onto our bill after one in a half years of continuous headache without explanation or documentation let alone acknowledgment of the terrible experience they put us through, then fighting us to get every last dime of these “extras” out of us; we feel it is our duty to share our story and warn the public to NEVER hire Pacific West Roofing Co.

> I was very pleased with the work done by the crew, especially the care they took to make sure everything was tidy and picked up after the job. The installation of the torch-down roof was careful done and has proved to be flawless and leak-free through three very stormy winters. If there's one thing I could change, it would be to make sure that the size of the drain-holes through the roof--where they enter the oversized downspouts--matched the size of the downspouts. One-inch diameter holes leading into four-inch downspouts aren't terribly effective. But that was my fault in specification.

> I needed to replace my wood shingle roof. They were able to come in and schedule it within a couple of weeks. The work was done in around 3 days. What really impressed me was that there was a problem in my roof design. One section did not have enough of a incline to properly have the water run off. The two estimates I received from other companies didn't identify the problem but Pacific West did. They were also able to replace the roof while keeping the existing gutters which saved me some money.
>
> Full disclosure: Pacific West Roofing contacted me requesting that I write a review. They only asked. They did not offer any discounts or anything like that.
>
> From the exchanges that I had with them (scheduling, billing), they seem like a really honest company and did a great job on my roof. I have no hesitation in highly recommending them.

> I had a huge moss situation and our former system failed. I hired them to come out to do their treatment for the roof and they gave a nice warranty on it. I also had them repair a potential leak they had pointed out to me. I was very pleased with their work. I would recommend to family and friends.

> Last summer we purchased a Mid-century home in Portland. After our home inspection we learned that our homes' aging low slope (just shy of a 3/12 pitch) hot-mopped roof needed replacing. We ordered an additional roof inspection to confirm that re-roofing was necessary and got bids from several roofing companies for different roofing types (hot mop, steel and IB membrane roof). The roofing firms we had spoken with suggested different approaches and all were vague about their process and what we could expect from their completed work. They all promised a 5-year certification but that seemed like an industry standard offered by many roofers. We weren't quite sure how to proceed or what roof to commit to. At this point we fortunately met Matt Krill and were introduced to Pacific West Roofing from Tualatin.
>
> Matt Krill was a wonderful guide throughout the process. He came to our home on several occasions (usually after a full work day) so it could work with our schedule. He was very personable and professional and answered our numerous questions patiently and respectfully. He carefully inspected our roof and came back with well outlined bid, fully explained it and brought samples of roofing materials and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different roofing approaches based on his many years in the roofing business. His bid also described the roofing process and the general specifications for the job and the plans for safeguarding our home in the event of bad weather during the roof installation. The thoroughness of the bid and proposal made us feel comfortable proceeding and was invaluable to align expectations between us and Pacific West. Matt's experience, his ability to present all options and his honest, ethical treatment made our the roofing process much less complicated and difficult. He is genuinely a great guy.
> Pacific West's bid was also very competitive. The $12,500 bid fell on the lower side of the range of bids we received that ranged from 10,000 to 16,500 and they offered a much more complete package with much better material and venting. We decided on FiberTite single-ply for our roof membrane. It was a clear stand out among the other materials. Based on many examples we researched, we expect our roof to last decades. Had we not gone with Pacific West, we most likely would'nt of had access to such a great commercial grade product for a residence.
> Roof work began, Hector and the Pacific West crew showed up at the same time every morning as scheduled, but most importantly, they were highly capable and conscientious. Hector wore booties in our house when ever he spoke with us, even though we said it was fine if he didn't. When the crew encountered a problem with the deep eaves of my roof they didn't continue fastening the roofing down with screw fasteners like they could have (the fasteners would have been an eyesore and very visible from underneath), but instead they stopped and painstakingly cemented down a substantial portion of the roof perimeter. They were extremely helpful in explaining framing issues that arose during the job and they replaced a large 2"x12"x 20' facia board that had rotted under the old roofing and added a downspout to prevent problems in the future. They showed me what was needed for some supports that I was going to install under the skylight wells to help me do the job right. They did a good job framing and installing five skylight curbs and skylights in our roof.
> The roof and rafter vents were well installed and numerous, more than adequate for venting our new roof. They built a substantial cricket uphill from our chimney to guard against future leaks at this vulnerable part of the roof. The crew was just great.
> We are extremely happy with quality and the craftsmanship of our new roof. Dealing with Pacific West roofing was a pleasant and fun process from beginning to end. We were actually sad to see the guys leave after they were finished. They had become friends. Im am grateful that I had the good fortune to work with Pacific West roofing and I am convinced that if I hadn't I would have ended up with much less of a roof than we now have. I cannot recommend them more highly. Great work Matt, Hector and crew. We really appreciate our wonderful roof. All the best to you. warm regards,
> Glen Marcusen

> Excellent job, great communication and responsiveness, and highly recommended. Their bid came in in the middle of three. I doubt they'd ever be the cheapest, but they did great work, showed up when they committed, and finished as expected. I can highly recommend Pacific West Roofing.
