## Community Q&A

**Q: Matching existing oak floors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking for some opinions - how difficult is it to match existing 20 year old oak floors? We currently have tile in our kitchen and hardwood throughout the rest of the house. We would love to replace the tile with hardwood but we do not think it is within the budget to refinish all floors to have an exact match. As a note, our current flooring is prefinished with a beveled edge. 

We live in Calgary, AB and would need someone to match existing oak flooring!

A: The wood flooring in the picture looks to be plain red oak with clear poly . I bet if you make a sample it will be very close. good luck !

**Q: LED recessed lights? I am skeptical....** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello all, I am remodeling my house! This includes adding recessed lights throughout. I currently have a handful of incandescent cans on dimmers. I LOVE the them as far as the warm of light etc. Don't love the energy consumption but honestly I would rather pay an steeper electric bill than have ugly florescent lights. I am really picky about lighting. 
My electrician is recommending dim-able 4" LED lights.  He says I won't be able to tell the difference. I am not so sure I believe him. I had actually wanted halogen but he said no to that as they are too hot. 
Can anyone share their experience with LED lights? Are there indeed some that are very close to incandescent?

A: we install lots of led lighting with fantastic results . they are far better than florescent lighting in almost every way . you wont be disappointed .

**Q: How much should it cost to paint the interior of a 3000 sq foot home?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Of course it'll vary by region, but what would you all expect? This would include painting the ceilings, also. The house is modern, so it doesn't have any fancy woodwork to paint. There is a cathedral ceiling but it isn't that high--it wouldn't require scaffolding.

A: I looked back at the most comparable job we have done . the house was about 2,900 sq. ft . ceilings walls and trim ran them about 9,000 . hope that helps .thanks
