The shelves I built are hollow MDF torsion boxes attached to cleats on the wall, that will eventually be skinned in walnut veneer. I decided that rather than set my AV equipment on top of the shelf, why not do something a little different and hang it under a shelf. I fabbed up some hangers using a slotted L bracket and some aluminum angle that is all going to be painted black. What I am now trying to figure out is how to hide all the cords, transformers, plugs and other crap below the shelf. Threading cables through a wall is the easy part. Behind the wall is open crawl space under the house, so plenty of room to work. I'm thinking about moving all the outlets to the underside of the house (behind the wall) and then having some sort of access panel with hole and grommet to feed cables. Any other ideas? A: We make custom cabinets to solve this issue as well as TV Lift Systems **Q: TV/fireplace dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)* We just moved in to our home recently. I have already updated some. I painted painted and white-washed the fireplace, which already has made an improvement. Currently, my dilemma is the TV. My boyfriend does not want the TV above the fireplace, so that's out. I wanted to put cabinets on both sides of fireplace to keep the room symmetrical, but the bf says no-that will cause to much clutter near the sliding glass door. So, my question is what do you think? Do you have any ideas for where and what to put the TV on? I don't want any cords showing (yes, they currently are showing but only temporarily) What should we do with the wall near the door? These pictures are from the model home and other marketing material. We will not have a fireplace but our tv will go on that wall. That far wall is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door. I am thinking of using a floating cabinet a few inches above the floor with the tv mounted above at eye level and a sound bar in between. Our ceiling will be vaulted. It is 9' at this wall then goes up from there. I do not like the idea of the tv being the focal point when you walk into the house and I'm not even sure if it will be high enough to be seen. But then there is this big blank wall! Would it be ok, design wise, to mount a painting above the tv perhaps with a mantel or shelf between the two? I have not seen any pictures of a wall like that. Dining table is 2460x1000 with 8 chairs. Couch for TV section is an L shape 2850x2850 (depth 900) and I have a 2nd couch that is 1500 (depth 900) My biggest issue is that I don't really want the TV on the wall at the entrance but it seems to be the best place. Also adding a fire place....... any suggestions welcome.
