From brainstorming to design to implementation, it's always a joy. JD and the team are trusted professionals who we've trusted to bring our vision to life for our restaurant interior. JD has been able to take ideas that we've been noodling on for years and take it to the next level by presenting creative interpretations that meet our needs and keeping us focused on moving the project forward. Additionally, he backs up all his innovative ideas with concrete suggestions for construction/implementation and has been such an asset on site. He takes the time to understand us, our story, and our goals; he has an attention to detail that is priceless; he follows through and does what he says he's going to do. Plus, he's just a cool, down to earth and friendly person. I always look forward to meetings with him and can't wait for us to start our next project together. We really couldn't ask for more. Thanks CA-RD! **★★★★★ — Dylon York, Aug. 2021** > CA-RD designed a special pool house project for my family that we have dreamed about for years. He brought our ideas to life in a very knowledgeable and exciting way. We also worked on a commercial project together for my work and CA-RD was the most professional, best creative/project manager I've ever worked with. I highly recommend them to my friends and family and to anyone on this site looking for a highly talented and approachable company to bring any design, build or vision to life. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Dylon, Thank you so much for the review. Your relationship is valued greatly. **★★★★★ — blaisebuilt, Aug. 2021** > We have had the pleasure to work with CA-RD on multiple projects both commercial and residential. Their attention to detail and creativity are incredible. A top notch design and construction management team that I very much look forward to working with on future projects. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Thanks for the kind words. I look forward to working with you more as well. **★★★★★ — Corkcicle, Aug. 2021** > I've had the privilege of working with CA-RD on several different projects for our nationally known consumer brand and I couldn't reccomend him more highly. He has the rare blend of incredible taste when designing, superb attention to detail, and is also able to turn around his work in a very good timeframe. We've been able to have JD design and project management several things for us and they all ended up on time and on budget...also a rarity in the world of construction. JD is an amazing talent, easy to work with, and over delivers on pre-planning and visuals. If you have the opportunity to work with him on a project...take it! **Comment from CA-RD:** > Wow, Thank you so much. It is a pleasure working for you. **★★★★★ — Thomas, July 2021** > CA-RD took on the project of reimagining and expanding the footprint of our quirky but promising mid-century home. JD found ways to achieve each of our design priorities of natural light, honor & integrate with the original style, and add a master suite, in a way that created a solid base for the next 30 years. CARD held to their original timeline even when a few set backs occurred, and came in just under the quoted budget. Through great conversations, ingenuity, and a lot of hard work the CA-RD team transformed our house into a modern gem that brings joy and harmony at every angle. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Thomas, I appreciate the details you shared so much. Glad to read you have joy in your home. **★★★★★ — Corporate Showroom Build, July 2021** > I had the pleasure of working with JD on a commercial job for my company. He listened to our needs and consistently exceeded expectations in every aspect. His work is beautiful and projects were completed on time, making the process seamless on our end. A true professional and artist combined, looking forward to working with him again in the future. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Lianne, > > Thank you for the kind words. There is a lot of good energy working with you and your team. **★★★★★ — jzaiback, July 2021** > CA-RD was our architect and contractor for a home remodel. Working with an architect on a home remodel really elevates the experience and end product. JD’s love for architecture and minimalism is inspiring. He listens to his clients desires and interests and quietly contemplates how he can best achieve that in the final product. As the plans are finalized and the space takes shape you will see your conversations, ideas and desires integrated into your new home. Ultimately, our home was elevated because of his insight and minimalist touches. We love the flow, attention to detail and natural light that was realized in our home. And that is because of JD’s work. Highly recommend working with CA-RD. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Julie & Thomas, It was a great journey working with you both and being a part of your story. I will hold it joyfully in my heart for a long time. Thank you dearly. JD **★★★★★ — Ron Johnosn, July 2021** > JD Carling did the design on our Stable conversion. His creative eye for design coupled with his expert architectural skills gave us a great end product that we have been delighted with! > Ron Johnson > Bramble Tree Estate **Comment from CA-RD:** > Ron thank you so much for taking the time to review us. **★★★★★ — Andres Corton, July 2021** > Working with JD on our second restaurant was a real treat! He not only listened to my ideas, he was able to see my vision through from conception to reality. The attention to detail not only on design and build but also on the personal and human side was unparalleled. I am the type of client that knows exactly what I want—repurpose a building to bring out all of its most important assets to make it our own using real materials like wood, stone and concrete. I’ve always said that simplicity is hard to achieve and it’s all in the details. It was such a pleasure working with JD who was not only the architect but also the GC so he could see his vision all the way through to the finish. I would recommend CA-RD and JD to anyone who is looking to build something minimalistic with a heavy attention to detail who respects the past and embraces the future. > -Andres Cortón, Black Bean Deli. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Andy, thank you so much for taking the time to review us. It was and still is a pleasure working with you. **★★★★★ — Lordfer Lalicon, July 2021** > CA-RD's team is amazing. We have worked with them commercially, they also redesigned and remodeled our home. Basically we did a design build with them and created our dream home. The experience with them was very comforting and how meticulous/detailed they were throughout all the things we wanted to include in our home was a joy to see. Now living in the home we dreamed up is surreal and a true blessing. It is by far better than we thought it would be. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Julie & Lo, Thank you for trusting us with your dream home :) we hope it serves your family for years to come and to the next generation. Also, thank you for trusting us with the custom furniture design and construction. We are appreciative to be able to continue to serve your family and dreams even after the home itself was complete. **★★★★★ — Pool House, July 2021** > We have worked with CA-RD on multiple projects and have been very happy every time. CA-RD listens to your needs and creatively designs the perfect space. We brought the idea of a modern pool house as an addition to our home. CA-RD went beyond our expectations and designed the perfect space as an addition to our home. We couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome! **Comment from CA-RD:** > Justin & Jen. It is such a joy working for you. I love how our appreciation of design connects. We did pretty much meet because you were looking at Dwell magazine at a coffee shop after-all. LOL **★★★★★ — bnguyen3100, June 2018** > We have done several projects with John-David from CA-RD Architects. His expertise in architectural design and construction detailing was critical in helping us achieve our desired space. > His ability to understand our needs while providing appropriate professional recommendations. > We would highly recommend John-David for any architectural or construction needs. **Comment from CA-RD:** > Binh & Sonja. I appreciate being able to serve you. It is also exciting how the tables have turned and I just hired you to help me make custom furniture for one of our new luxury minimalist homes. ## Selected projects - [Haywood House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/haywood-house-pj-vj~7578560) - Location: Winter Park, FL - Photos: 8 - [Bahay Betty](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bahay-betty-pj-vj~6632255) - Location: Orlando, Florida - Photos: 15 - Description: Home for a growing multi generation family. A: Hi HT-Install, We typically design each project from the ground up. What is your main goal for the outcome as far as use? There are some companies that specialize in container homes here in Florida if that is the main goal they will be your best route. I have worked on 3 shipping container projects so I could provide some insight and answer your questions in a meeting sometime if you want. **Q: Help with Kitchen Layout!!** *(in Building a Home)* Hello!! I am currently working on floor plans for our house, and I am having trouble with our kitchen layout. I love love love the huge windows over the sink (which face the front of our house), but I am stuggling with where to put the fridge and stove. Where the fridge is right now in the floor plan (see picture), it makes sense, but it bothers me that the range hood and stove top are not centered on the island. I have thought about moving the fridge to where the double ovens are and centering stove on island, but that seems so far from the stove and sink. I have also thought about centering range hood and stove on the bottom wall (where the sink is now) with windows on either side. I am seriously stuck, and would love to hear your ideas. Thank you!!!! A: I mean filler not shim on the ends :\\ - and the dishwasher should be on the oven side. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile. Reflects the profile as of 2026-11-05.*
