> BUYER BEWARE!! Get EVERYTHING in writing — this company will not protect you from costly mistake
>
> I am extremely disappointed with my experience with RS Marble & Granite and would strongly warn anyone considering using them.
>
> I purchased an MSI quartz countertop after visiting the MSI showroom and selecting the exact sample I wanted. Their contract does state that some variation from samples is expected, and I understood that. However, the slab that was installed is dramatically darker with far heavier veining — not a minor difference, but something that looks like a completely different color. I will be including photos so others can judge for themselves.
>
> I could have requested slab approval, but I didn’t believe it was necessary based on their reputation, the product I selected, and the fact that it was never required or emphasized.
>
> RS Marble & Granite came to measure and later called to “confirm” details. During that call, their representative recommended installing my sink as an undermount and said an additional hole for a water filter could be cut on site.
>
> On installation day:
>
> • The countertop was not cut for an undermount sink
> • They refused to cut the additional hole they had said could be done on site
> • The leftover cutout pieces I requested were not brought at all
>
> They later reimbursed me $250 for these mistakes, but this was before I fully realized how severely the installed slab differed in color and veining from what I selected.
>
> After all this, I was told nothing further could be done because the changes were not in writing.
>
> This is the real issue: they are the professionals, yet there is no slab approval process, no system to document changes they themselves suggest, and no protection for the customer.
>
> My advice:
> Stay away from this company. If it’s already too late and you are working with them, make absolutely sure every single detail you think you’re getting is in writing — or you may end up paying a lot of money for something you never truly agreed to.

**Comment from R S Marble & Granite Inc:**

> Hello, just a few points
>
> We purchase our instock materials from our vendors in bulk so our customers can have their project completed faster and at a lower cost. Because of this we provide samples of the stone from the lots that we have instock at OUR facility.
>
> The samples and materials you viewed were selected at the vendors' warehouse which was never brought to our attention. Some variation is always inherent as long as the samples and the actual material received are from quartz stone batches that are made relatively around the same time. The samples you got from the vendor and the material we made for your kitchen are both named the same. The only difference is that the material the vendor currently has is from a more recent batch and factory.
>
> It is for this reason, that we always advise ALL of our customers to visit OUR facility to see the stone they selected BEFORE anything is finalized. Despite our advise, you chose to remain an email and over-the-phone customer as it was not to your convenience. We respected that as we have many email only and over-the-phone customer who we have been working with for years and have not once visited our facility.
>
> We quoted, measured, fabricated, and installed the job without any issues. As for the sink you provided, it was listed that you'd like it to be dropped in. When we called to confirm all the details after the template, we suggested an undermount installation for the sink since that is what most people do. You stated that your preferred style was to have it dropped in. So it was made accordingly. We generally can drill holes onsite but only into stone, as discussed with the office staff on the phone. When the technician got there he determined that it was not possible to drill a hole as there was no space on the stone above the sink cabinet area. Any hole in the stone would have gone into the next cabinet. We offered you to get hole drilled by metalworking shop but you said you will take care of it. As a gesture of good faith, we reimbursed you $250 for your inconvenience. The technician brought the cutout pieces that the installers missed when they were loading for kitchen.
>
> Upon your request we provided you with the stone lot information and the vendor's customer service confirm that it was the correct material.

> We chose RS Marble & Granite for the new countertops in our kitchen - beautiful granite replaced old white Formica. They were very patient and accommodated my picky-ness about the how the seams were to line up and mapping out the best looking sections of the granite slabs. I probably asked them to pull every available slab before finally deciding (yes, I'm that woman). Needless to say - we are tremendously pleased with the results. So much so that we hired them again for a marble vanity top in the master bathroom and a third time to replace a broken marble credenza top. I highly recommend RS Marble & Granite!
