The exceptional precision that Alex brings to every aspect of construction really shows – flush baseboards, trim and walls are flawless; the seams where countertop meets backsplash in the kitchen and where tiles meet wall and floor in the bathroom are immaculate. > > Working with Alex was a great collaborative experience. He respected my input and perspectives and didn’t condescend like other contractors I’ve worked with in the past. At the beginning of the project he recommended options for the foundation, framing, and drainage, with cost/benefit information that was really helpful to my decision making, and the finished building is rock solid and will always be snug and dry. His guidance as I selected flooring, lighting, cabinets, HVAC, plumbing, etc. was always spot on. When my wife approves, I will absolutely use him again for future projects on our house. > > I came to Alex with a set of Architectural drawings that I had been sitting on for almost two years. In our first meeting, he quickly noticed several issues with the kitchen layout, and suggested several better ideas. He asked a questions about how we use the current spaces, and what our goals were. The next day, he sent me an e-mail with a to do list for updating my permits, and detailed schedule and timeline for ordering cabinets, fixtures, and other finish materials. I had my homework, and we got started almost immediately. > > Demo was quick. Alex set up my house to look like an episode of Dexter. Plastic dust walls, a hepa filter, and a small team of vacuums kept everything super clean. He did a great job protecting our oak floors and stairs, everywhere. The rooms adjacent to the work areas remained astonishingly dust free for the duration of the project. My wife still talks about that. Alex was conscious of my unruly and curious children, and let the job site clean and hazard free after each work day. > > When some old rotten posts a few electrical surprises were discovered, Alex immediately pointed out the problems, and took the time to carefully explain our options. He explained the cost and procedure to remedy the issues very clearly. His transparency in dealing with these little surprises showed me that this was a guy I could trust. > > Alex’s work is.... impressive. I work from home three days a week so i got to see a lot of his process first hand. He’s extremely organized, punctual, and procedural. He’s like a home surgeon, who clearly knows his stuff. Aside from the initial problems found during demo, there were almost no surprises. At the framing stages, he was thinking about all the finish details, tile transitions, lighting layout etc. It was clear that he was always thinking forward to future steps in all the decisions we made together. > > It’s also worth saying that Alex is just a pleasure to be around. Super duper nice, kind, gentle guy. He kinda became part of the family during the three months he was here. My daughter was excited to greet him and bring him coffee every morning. He was also super responsive. I have a habit of spinning my wheels about details on the weekends. Alex and co. nailed every detail. Little things like light switch locations, tile layout details, floor thresholds, plumbing fixture locations.... all ended up juuust right. Its silly, but the crown moldings are probably my favorite part. So crisp!! This project was no small feet, we had to get water were there wasn’t any before, and get connected into the sewer line under my slate walkway. Things I would never think of, as I just wanted to pick out my pretty Heath Tile pattern, and fixtures. > > We talked through many things that were not specified in the drawings. For example, Alex made sure the addition used the same baseboard and door trim, so it looks like it was always part of my house. We had to figure out the best transition to the garage, as it turned out to be a different elevation. So we decided to tile the alcove too. Little details like that make a big difference in the finish product. > > Because of his initial detailed bid, there were very few add services, and the project finished very near to original budget. We had a structural issue with the placement of the alcove opening, but he was able to solve for that, and at a reasonable price. His billing was very clear, the progress payments tied to specific line items, which I really appreciated. > > Pictures are worth a thousand words. I love my new half bath and closet.
