Her overall design was beautiful, and the new space is light-filled and comfortable. Angie seemed comfortable working with everyone involved with the project, and really saved the day by finding a wonderful new contractor when the original one closed his business mid-project. > The best recommendation that we can give for architect, Angela Klein, is that we haven't used anyone else for any of the major renovation projects that our home required.  Our first project with Angie was a complete gutting of a 1960 kitchen.  The renovation results were displayed on the cover of Alameda Magazine!  Since then we have renovated an outdated sun-room and gutted two full bathrooms.  We didn't bother to interview other architects; such was our faith in her concepts and skill.  We find her artistry stunning and it is coupled with an excellent understanding of structural issues.  Angie is easy to work with; she listens to what you want and translates what she hears into amazing results.  Our home evolved beautifully into what we envisioned, and Angie is a big reason why!  We feel lucky to have found her and recommend her unconditionally.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Should we paint this wall?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have an off center fireplace and recently added an extra long piece of barn-wood to try and center the room. We like it a lot but now we are thinking about painting the wall behind the mantle.  We were thinking of keeping the bookcases white and then painting the wall behind the mantle Pismo Dunes from Benjamin Moore to match the rest if the room.  Thoughts?  Also, we would also love to hear thoughts on how to decorate the bookcases.  Thanks.

A: Yes, I would match the rest of the room on this wall.

**Q: Kitchen cabinet - soffit gap** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The previous homeowner who remodeled the kitchen and then sold us the house thought it would be a good idea to level the new cabinets, but didn't really have a plan for what to do with the gap it left between them and the existing soffit.  (I would LOVE to get rid of the soffit, but that's not in the cards for us right now.)  The gap varies from 1/4" to 3/4" throughout the room.  We will probably paint the cabinets soon.  Any great ideas for how to make that gap (that even my mother-in-law noticed...) GO AWAY?  Thanks for any ideas!

A: Given that the cabinet is set back from the soffit, I don't think a crown molding would work.  I would paint the bottom of the soffit first and then glue in matching wood strips to fill the gap.

**Q: Paint color suggestions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are repainting the walls of the main room of our rental and are leaning toward a grey. It is a kitchen/great room where the current wall color is a bright green with a darker green accent wall. The wood trim/floors/blinds are a medium oak with blonder cabinets and Ubatuba granite countertops. It's a sunny east facing room. Would love your paint color suggestions by names + brand. Do I keep one wall darker or paint them all the same?

A: I would not do. A gray paint, it would be too cold Witt the Uba tuba. I would try a pale yellow gold color to keep it warm and friendly!

**Q: Need help picking a rug!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a red, green, and gold chair. Trying to figure out what color rug would go best. My walls are a light/pale yellow and I have a tan/gold sofa.

A: I would do a olive green multicolored oriental rug to set off the colors of the walls and furniture.

**Q: What colour would you paint our exterior? Any examples of similar style houses?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: I would use a light olive green on the shingles, a cream color on the trim and facia boards and a dark greenish black on the windows.  If the front door is painted, I would use a brick red with an orange tint.

**Q: We love this color tile, can you give me the details about it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The main tile is all from Pratt and Larson, we bought it through Country Floors.  The backsplash main color is the C65, the countertop is C350 (same color but more durable) and the dark green tiles are the C365 color.  The gold liner tile on the countertop is the C92 color.
