Over more than 25 years, B&B (formerly Basements & Beyond) has become one of Denver’s most trusted residential design-build firms. Our particular expertise in historic homes, custom remodels and complex structural renovations informs our detail-oriented approach, with an emphasis on quality construction that will stand the test of time.

At B&B, we bring more than two decades of experience to the process of planning and managing complex design-build projects. Each of our clients are supported by our in-house staff of architectural designers and project managers, who interface directly with onsite contractors throughout the duration of the construction process. Their skill—and consistent attention to detail—is complemented by our long-standing relationships with some of the Front Range’s most talented and trustworthy trade partners.

Together, this critical partnership enables us to not only negotiate fair bids and provide fixed costs, but also to complete projects on their original timelines. It also empowers us to consistently achieve a bar-setting standard of work, which we honor through a five-year warranty on each client’s investment. > Basements & Beyond did an excellent job on a remodel of our home. My wife and I are both educators and we live in an older home. I was nervous about choosing a contractor who would be able to manage the project well while controlling costs. The design team listened to our goals and proposed creative ideas that we had not thought of. They also helped us to prioritize certain aspects of the project as we finalized the scope. Once demo and construction started, we received weekly updates with pictures and details. Our project manager communicated regularly and was never more than a text message away. The project concluded with a detailed walkthrough to be sure that everything was right. I've already recommended Basements & Beyond to several friends and we plan to use them again in the future.

> My experience with Basements and Beyond has spanned over 9 years and I’ve had nothing but superior customer service with complete attention to my needs. They have honored their lifetime warranty on two separate occasions. If I were to need an additional remodel in the future I would definitely go to B&B again. Just recently had an issue with a sump pump and Juan, their construction foreman, personally came out and installed the replacement himself...and told me “once a B&B customer always a B&B customer”.

> Hiring Basements and Beyond turned out to be worse than I could have imagined. I would not be writing this review if the issues and responses encountered were not so shocking. This is my account of my opinion about the experience. Here are some key problems that we encountered:
> 1.There were constant errors and damage that took place throughout the project (see below).
> 2.A projected 55-day project took nearly a year to complete, with a brief pause due to COVID. B&B touted project management software as a differentiator, but the content was mostly inaccurate and outdated.
> 3.There was rarely a person from B&B on site when subcontractors arrived to do work, and the subs rarely knew what needed to be done, resulting in wrong work completed, items damaged, and insufficient oversight. They gave our door code to innumerable subcontractors and access to our home felt like a non-stop free-for-all.
> 4.In my opinion, the results look amateur in places, despite B&B’s continued insistence at me that we had a beautiful result.
> 5.I have learned that the project was likely quite expensive. I was lured by the positive reviews and sadly did not get multiple bids.
> 6.We started with a much larger scope and had to significantly reduce the scope because they were not able to manage the small items.
> 7.B&B was unable or unwilling to provide us an updated and final allowance schedule for our plumbing work. They changed the numbers in the software over time, and could not account for the changes or discrepancies. They would only send us the bills from the plumbing providers, which I reviewed in detail to understand what had been installed so that I could retain the receipts for warranty purposes and also to determine the final amount due for this category. I felt that the owner ridiculed me for wanting to understand the items purchased and the numbers (he said I got an A+ for working on it). This felt wrong.
>
> Here are a few items from the list of errors made or items damaged: Wrong toilets ordered and installed, counter top installed incorrectly requiring re-do of island, damaged sink resulting in having to order new one, damaged faucet resulting in having to order new one, damaged fireplace, disposal of paint materials in garden, gas leak after stove put back, used our ladder and got paint all over it, wrong paint colors applied, lost existing door hardware, bathroom tile layout not installed according to plan, wrong shower glass X2, and the list goes on. We had to identify nearly all of these issues ourselves, propose solutions, and project manage resolution. The silver lining is that thankfully the terrible experience has put us back in the hands of exceptional professionals for the bigger projects we have planned.

**Comment from Basements & Beyond:**

> Sheila & Erik,
> Your project launched on February 27th, 2020, one month prior to the Covid pandemic ravaging the world. The construction industry, as most industries, dealt with unprecedented challenges. Our company and our trade partners adjusted to manpower shortages due to workers or family being sick, material delays from factory slowdowns, unresponsive City officials, vendors shuttering their operations, and the list goes on. Your project was affected, and some mistakes were made; however, we never wavered nor stopped working until your project was 100% complete and beautiful. In multiple cases, we went above and beyond performing significant remodeling work and maintenance to your house for free, in attempt to rectify the situation.
>
> Prior to beginning your project, you informed us that your preceding 5 remodels had gone badly. Looking back, we neglected to ask ourselves a most important question, “how is our approach going to be different and provide a satisfied result when your previous remodeling projects went poorly?” We missed this red flag, and we would have been better served passing on your project and avoiding this most certain outcome of unwarranted negativity. Your comments are not shared by the thousands of happy Basements & Beyond clients; but you taught us a lesson on the downfall of believing, that despite your previous remodels being negative, that our outcome would have been different.

> Basements and Beyond recently completed a basement digout on our 115 year old house. Our lot made the logistics of digout especially complicated and we were very impressed by the team that did the work. The craftsmanship is superb and the completed pace added significant value to our home.

**Comment from Basements & Beyond:**

> It is hard to contemplate the significant transformation going from the old basement and crawlspace to the beautiful space you now have. Your style and taste in your material selections is visually stunning and made the final product amazing.
> Thank you for the opportunity to work with you.

**★★★★★ — Phil Pickering, April 2016**

> We had our basement finished by Basements & Beyond in the Fall of 2015. We interviewed five companies to do the job - B&B's estimate was a bit higher than some of the others, but only because they do a fantastic job of estimating everything you will need during the project. Little details really add up in terms of cost, which after reviewing competing estimates we discovered they did not account for at all. B&B finished our project ahead of schedule and right on budget. We had one tricky feature of our basement (a sauna) that was important to be done right. B&B worked with the Sauna installer (Spa Brokers of Denver...fantastic!) and it turned out perfect. We have been enjoying our basement ever since. I would highly recommend Basements & Beyond.

**Comment from Basements & Beyond:**

> Mr. Pickering,
> Thank you for the kind comments. You and your wife were wonderful clients and your space turned out amazing. Thank you for the opportunity to work for you.
> Your Basements & Beyond team.

> We were so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have Basements and Beyond work in our home. Thank you to all the designers, project managers, superintendents and workers. You finished ahead of schedule and on target for our charges, as you predicted..
>
> My family and I are as happy as we can be with our finished "basement"
> We really love our newly remodeled space. Thank you again Kenn and all, - we greatly appreciate your dedication, positive attitudes and good workmanship..
>
> The entire process was handled by my wife, Valerie, as our Family's Project Manager. It all could not have gone better. She was treated with the utmost respect by everyone. I think we received very good value and an excellent job. We really have a nice, professionally finished basement.
>
> We are very happy and "Momma" is very happy. When "Momma" is happy, everyone in the family is happy.
>
> Jesse, Valerie and Nelly Grantham, Happy customers of another Basements and Beyond project.

**★★★★★ — olivae, Sept. 2015**

> Basements and Beyond has been a wonderful company to work with around our basement project. We had several non traditional rooms that we were doing including a rock climbing room and a room with an endless pool as well as traditional rooms too - needless to say- a lot going on! Working with Wes and Rachel during the design process has been invaluable. We have found the details put into the design process, the 2D and 3D plans which we could change in real time to help make decisions, AMAZING! I think seeing plans in 2D wouldn't have allowed us to visually appreciate our project in terms of space and orientation of rooms. It was so helpful to see these spaces in 3D as though you are walking through the finished product. Our meetings were productive, helpful and they were always very quick to respond to our needs through the design process and they worked closely in coordinating with some of our additional vendors taking the extra work off our hands. This is an incredible company and I can't wait to see our finished product.

**★★★★★ — 3rinnicol3, Nov. 2014**

> The staff at Basements & Beyond are friendly and professional. They listen to what you are looking for and offer their helpful input as well. They did a great job on our basement! Definitely a company we will use again when the time comes.

**★★★★★ — skip267, Jan. 2014**

> They were very professional in all aspects of their work. They provided accurate time and cost lines and the subs worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. B and B was happy to accommodate some unusual requests.

**★★★★★ — dandroy, Aug. 2013**

> Basements and Beyond transformed our space into something functional and beautiful. From the planning with 3D designs to the finished product, they were great to work with. I'd highly recommend our project manager, Don.

**★★★★★ — Art of Home Team, June 2013**

> I just previewed a home in Berkeley, NW Denver, on Raleigh St, where they had a professional basement remodel done by Basements & Beyond. The results were spectacular and this vendor definitely was a value add for these homeowners. I can't wait to see more of their work!

**Comment from Basements & Beyond:**

> Thank you Ms. Truhan for the nice compliment. I heard that the Raleigh Street home sold very quickly.

**★★★★★ — 904, March 2013**

> I can't say enough good things about this company, the staff, and their subcontractors. I had a very tricky basement remodel requiring extensive structural repairs and they were fantastic every step of the way.

  - Description: With this house, we had a unique opportunity to remodel a classic Victorian while preserving its sophisticated woodworking details. The B&B scope involved significant structural changes: we transformed 500 square feet of crawlspace into a basement with an impressive 8'6" ceiling height. In addition to the existing metal spiral staircase—an eyesore and safety concern for the owners—we added a new open staircase to connect the main floor to the basement. The remodel also included a new bedroom/off…

  - Description: This Landmark gem amongst the mansions of Cheeseman park was craving a full update. The plan was to 'undress' the house to the bones and replace all plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. After that, an outdated kitchen and three bathrooms were fully re-imagined featuring more storage-friendly and convenient-to-use solutions. The kitchen windows were raised to accommodate a new countertop height after Landmark Preservation approval. As a result, the clients received a brand new house with…
