There is no better way to see firsthand how competent a General Contractor is than to see a job in progress and observe the details usually hidden behind drywall and trim. On several occasions, I have been into De Mattei remodels, additions and full top to bottom construction and have been highly impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise applied to the jobs. Recently, I toured a complex project in San Francisco that required the homeowners retain a historical exterior. The inside was a completely modern masterpiece designed by SF architect Mark English. The site supervisor and the tradesmen on the job were all exceeding at producing a gorgeous space that included floating steel stairs and a clear catwalk. The site itself required many reworks to accommodate a downsloping garage entry and flush walls in a 100 year old structure. The end result is not mine to publish pictures of but it is stunning! Far from being a by-the-book remodel, this project required so much ingenuity and so many different expert tradesmen that I am hoping the home will be prominently featured in design magazines.
