This is a major renovation and Courtney made us feel very relaxed throughout the process and offered great advice based on other kitchens she has designed. My husband and I would highly recommend Courtney, she was amazing.

> Courtney worked with my husband and I for an add a level addition on our ranch. She was able to maximize functionality of our current and future space while keeping the square footage to our needs for our growing family. We loved working with Courtney because she was patient, listened to her clients’ needs, and has a great eye for design. She is warm and personable while also extremely timely and professional. She puts her all into the projects she’s working on and really wants to get her clients their dream home! We HIGHLY recommend Courtney for any architectural needs!

**★★★★★ — amandaregimbal, Dec. 2022**

**Comment from Courtney Lowry Architect:**

**★★★★★ — Tom, Dec. 2022**

> Courtney came to our house at the recommendation of our builder to design an addition to our home. We toured a much larger home that she previously renovated and we were very impressed. She is very easy to work with and takes the time to understand our family and our unique needs in the living space. She made several practical suggestions that will undoubtedly enhance our lives later on. Our builder seems happy with the drawings, so now we're just waiting for the magic to happen.

**Comment from Courtney Lowry Architect:**

> Thanks for your kind words. I can't wait to see your project underway!

## Community Q&A

**Q: basement flooring type** *(in Photo Questions)*

May I please know what type in the basement flooring ? And what color is the basement floor?

A: I don't know the exact specification however it is Luxury Vinyl Tile Plank. The color is similar to a white oak.

**Q: What color is the basement ceiling?!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Looking for a grey for our open ceiling basement

A: It's actually a flat black with latex in it so it has some give with natural expansion and contraction of materials.

**Q: where can I find spheres like this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: What are these spheres made of and where did you purchase them?

**Q: POLL: Do window treatments have to match?** *(in Polls)*

When you are installing window treatments in the same room or even in rooms that are open to each other, do you make sure they all match?
VOTE and tell us about it in the comments!

A: My dining room is open to my living room and normally I match my window treatments. With a nudge from my husband, I did patterned curtains on the large bay window in the living room this winter and solid, insulated curtains pulling from a color in the pattern in my dining room. I loved the look. For summer, I am back to sheers and matching prints, but will try it again.

**Q: Deck design advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are building a deck along the back side of our house, just for a grill and some seating and maybe a hot tub. In the following pictures are the simple ideas we came up with. We have no idea how to design a deck and we are not sure if this looks to 80's. Any suggestions and/opinions on deck shape, landscaping, wood or composite or anything regarding the deck would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: Nice design. I'm an architect in NJ/FL. If it were my house, I'd keep the deck rectangular and just 45 clip the side with the stairs. You'll keep more useable space at the opposite side. I agree that clipping both sides is an "older" look. Wide stairs are in too. For the door, you could go either way. I like keeping with the white to match the windows and just having black shutters.

**Q: Pink bathroom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I made an agreement with my husband that we would wait to renovate our main bathroom (see picture!) Im going to spruce this place up with just paint & new fixtures. I need ideas for a paint color to distract from the pink :( Preferably Benjamin Moore!! Thank you!!

A: I had a dreaded pink bathroom. Painted the walls bar harbor beige BM. Tuned down the pink and made the tile appear more brown than pink. Added beige decorative towels and brown regular ones. Also changed the toilet seat from pink to beige. It's holding us over until we eventually gut it as well. Thankfully the sink cabinet was stained so it helps too. Good luck!!!
