Hope he isn't in too much trouble. **Q: Weird wall cut outs** *(in Design Dilemma)* We just bought this house and it has a weird, off-center wall cut out in our family room. Do I just shove my tv and credenza in that spot or should we fill it in? I hate how it's off-center. Also, the weird triangle piece at the top right--could we just cut that out? A: What do you think about putting a desk in the space. You could have a cork board or chalk board above it. Great for kids to do homework or paying bills etc. **Q: Coffee Table Proportions** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi, I am ordering a custom square lucite/acrylic coffee table for my living room. I am having trouble with the dimensions. My sofa measures 86" from the outer edges of the arms and the seat area is 66". The height is 19". For the length/depth, which measurement should I be using to determine the size (the length from outer arms or the seat) and what proportion? Attached are some pictures of the space... (I know the rug is too small and the pictures are too high!) A: I agree that the table would be better rectangular in this space. 50" x 30" & 17" high. All your furniture seems very traditional, why are you considering a Lucite table it seems so modern? More comments - could you loose the cloth on the end table and take off the placemats (just put them out when needed)? Sheryl **Q: Garage door - drapery for privacy** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are building a boat garage with an attached bedroom / suite. To keep in keeping with the garage theme we used a sliding sectional garage door which follows the slope of the ceiling. How could I drape or.... it for privacy ? It sits on a gorgeous ocean front property so we want to maintain the view most of the time. I have thought of draping the actual bed - but that leaves exposure while dressing. A one way glass treatment is another. Help. A: You probably won't have that many sleep over guests? How about a tarp roll like they would have on sailing ships.
