A: Don't know. **Q: Curved staircase - how much should it cost?** *(in Building a Home)* Hello, We are in the middle of building a new home, and I just received the cost of building the curved staircase, and got a surprise. The cost is over $14,000! Now, while I knew the cost of a curved staircase is higher than a regular one, I had no idea it would be this much. It is a supported staircase (by one wall), and it is not really that large. Part of the cost is probably the mahogany rail, but I am having a hard time understanding why it is so much. Can someone tell me if this is about right or it seems way too high? I understand the complexity and the radius issues, but for not a very big and a supported (as opposed to freestanding staircase), this seems high to me. Thanks!
