The first fiasco was tile behind a pellet stove. Custom tile minted off center leaving 1/2to 3/4 gap on top and one side. This was the final bit to be down. Nick wanted full payment, but I asked him to come out and inspect the work before I wrote the last check. He agreed it was awful, said he would replace it - get him a quote on the tile (($1200). I also offered a less expensive alternative to meet him part way as the relationship had been amicable to this point (horrible paint job -fixed it, ordered a wrong cabinet - fixed it). Never heard from Nick again. Multiple texts and phone calls - only response was when he thought I was a different job. Since then we found our hood was installed wrong - didn’t use mounting hardware- screwed directly to the wall. He installed the wrong dishwasher (we had two) - said he would swap it, never did but then I found out why. The one we wanted was a standard American sized 24” dishwasher (and spec’d for it in the plans). Installed was a euro-sized dishwasher - at the time I didn’t think much of it until I tried to swap them and the opening will not accept a standard dishwasher. Installed vent trim outside the house has blown off, sheet rock seams are showing (poorly taped), flooring uneven and he never fixed a chip from day one. I would give one star but the design was very good - execution and attention to detail including any follow up left a bad taste however taking away from all that. **★★★ — Rosamond L Bennett, July 2018** > It’s difficult to get this team rolling, but the end results have been very acceptable. In our families eyes its a masterpiece. there were bumps during construction, as one would expect but Nick and his professional team of contractors handles it all in a very favorable fashion. His projected 7 week project in our kitchen turned into a 12 week project and we are still not done because we have to have our entire kitchen floor ripped up and re-tiled. When the tile was put in we noticed that it looked uneven and let him know. He had his contractor “fix” it, but it still looked uneven. We let him know yet again that it stilled looked uneven to which he said they’d fix it at the end of the job. When we refused to have the same contractor put in our tile backsplash Nick brought in a new guy (who did a fantastic job on the backsplash) and he told Nick that the floor was done wrong and it would have to be ripped up to correct it. This was the biggest problem we had, however not the only… > > Light switch cover: cut a cheap plastic one to fit an outlet, rather than order a new one to fit our brand new kitchen. > > Wanted to charge us an additional $1,400 to install a countertop, which was supposed to be part of the original work. > > Had to fight with him to replace the recessed lighting because after they were put in the first time, you could see about ½” gap around each light-fixture in the ceiling. > > A couple of his contractors called us after the job was completed to find out if we paid him because he was not paying them. This is unprofessional and not our problem, that was why we hired him – to deal with the contractors. > > Make sure your vet his contractors, because at the end of the job, we found out some very disconcerting information about one guy that was in our home more than any of the other contractors. **★★★★★ — iggygarcia9, July 2014** > remodel of a 1957 kitchen. From the first time that we sat with Tony Maruca to discuss our kitchen remodel, we knew we were working with the right people. They work through the process from start to finish as true professionals who are passionate about what they do. Quality work and making the project as easy on the homeowner as possible are their number one priorities. They also approach the process with a sense of honesty and humility. There was not a moment during our 6-week kitchen remodel that we did not know what was going on. Nick and Tony Maruca were onsite daily, morning and evening to check the progress of the project. We were notified immediately if/when anything came up. And a couple things did, given the fact that we were completely remodeling a 75+ year old house.
