## Community Q&A

**Q: Need more ideas!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Stuck! What else do I do with this nursery? Rug? Shades? Introduce other colors?

A: I would add in sets of side panels around the window - something to transition the shades a bit into the rest of the room... Colorful, full drapery panels hung on beautiful rods - hung high and wide past the window frames will soften the look of the room and add a considerable cozy factor.

**Q: I need ideas for window treatments.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What's going I had eggplant colored sheer scarf curtains. I wasn't something more contemporary but not overwhelming. Any ideas??

A: I agree! Take the rods all throughout the bay window and hang stationary side panels on each. If the windows are all the same height, you can create a very clean contemporary look. Hang those draperies high and wide (4 inches above the trim at least,....more if you have the room)!

**Q: Need help with window treatment ideas, please!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I desperately want to get some color over our windows, but don't know how to best dress them. I want it to be symmetrical, but one side is a full window and the right side is a door which pulls into the house to access our deck. And then to complicate it even more, to the right of the door is only a small wall because it opens up to the eat in kitchen.
Please provide any solution ideas that may work. As you can tell from the pic, I do not have the interior designer gift but I am trying to take little steps to fix it up

A: How about Shutters? They are gorgeous in every setting. I would add sets of long side panels for a pop of colour as well...

**Q: What should I do for window treatments? And additional lighting?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm torn between wood blinds or roman shades with some color??? Or full length curtains with nice black hardware??? Also..very dark because of front porch…I'm not sure a ceiling light would look god for this space?? Maybe wall sconces?? No idea..help

A: I think that if you could mount the wood blind (or roman shade) inside the casement, then go with a set of side panels (mounted quite high and floor length) to add a finishing touch! Perhaps a throw pillow or two in a coordinating fabric with the panels!

**Q: Curtains** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi I am having a dilemma regarding curtains for my living room slider. I have terra cotta colored walls and wanted a patterned curtain that would compliment the walls. Any suggestions?? Thx!

A: HI Lola! My fave soft treatment company (Horizons) has all of their sample fabrics online, and you can order up to 5 swatches (free) to your home address. Check them out...I am sure that they;ll have a fabric you'll love! http://www.horizonshades.dphoto.com/\#/album/38243x

**Q: Need help with my exterior curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We purchased this home knowing it needed a lot of TLC with the curb appeal... but we're in a quandary as to what to do with the exterior (aside from a much needed change in paint color). We already know we're going to remove most if not all of the current landscaping... but we're not sure how to address the issue with how the windows look too small for the front of the house... any suggestions??

A: Try Exterior Shutters to improve the look of the home and also to help the windows appear larger - then, a little clever landscaping and VOILA!
