> NIH builds some of the best homes in the twin cities. Very organized, fantastic communication, and the team is very easy to work with. Highly recommend building with them.

> We were incredibly impressed with the support and collaboration we received from Rob and the entire NIH team. It was a great experience all the way around. While we have no plans to leave our incredible home anytime soon, if we did - we would start with a call to NIH.

> As a construction loan lender, I have worked with many builders over my 20yr career. NIH builds a high-end custom product and were great to work with based on my recent client interactions within the last 12 months. Brian (Sensitive Information Hidden) with Coldwell Banker can help you find a great lot for NIH if your are looking around the Lake Minnetonka area.

> After only 1.5 years in our home built by NIH we have had so many problems. NIH will not stand behind anything past 1 year and the stuff within the one year was fixed mediocre at best. Gas leak, Dishwasher leak, failed window that leaked, driveway that doesn’t properly drain, yard doesn’t properly drain, faulty electricity, caulking failing on all windows, doors and joint corners of hardy siding, hardy siding pulling away, concrete pitting/cracking, failed back flow on sprinkler system, installed a single stage furnace with a multi zone system to name a few. Gaslight us by saying these things need to be maintained every few years or they make up some excuse on why this is our problem and our responsibility to fix it. What a joke, and on top of all this they had the audacity to spread rumors about us as if we are the problem…..the home speaks for itself. Save yourself your sanity and a lot of money and build your dream home with someone else!

**Comment from NIH Homes:**

> I'm sorry you feel this way. Unfortunately some things happen, faulty parts and such but as you recall, NIH Homes members were out ASAP when we were informed of these issues to get them taken care of right away. Again we are sorry you had this experience but we do take issues serious and get on them ASAP.
> Builders Assoc. of MN creates performance guidelines that are incorporated into all contracts in the state of MN that spells out the builders warranty so there is no confusion regardless of what year it is.

> We recently purchased an NIH home and are the second owners of the house (house is 4 years old). While there are many things about the house that we enjoy, I would be remised if I didn't share my experience with regard to the landscaping/backfilling that NIH did. Our house is a walkout and has a patio area in the back yard. The landscaping was done in a way that funneled water down the slope on each side of the house towards the foundation. We live in an area that has a fair amount of clay for soil. When backfilling, this clay and sand was used as filler. When the house had its finishing touches put on, the clay and sand was covered with plastic and rock (which is customary). Over time the house settled and the water that was being funneled up against the house was causing problems with my deck and siding. The problem was hidden by the rocks that cover the previously mentioned area. I contacted NIH about this and they told me it was outside the 1 year warranty provided for such things and they were not willing to fix the problem. To remedy the problem I had to redo the entire area along the back of my house at a fairly large expense to myself. In talking with neighbors I am not the only person that has had this type of issue. I am not stating that you shouldn't have NIH build your home, but from my experience I would definitely be aware of this type of issue and the costs that are associated with fixing it.

> 2nd time building with NIH, and would do it again without a second thought! Their communication is fantastic. NIH listened carefully to our needs and wants and met them all! The whole team works together making the process easy, seamless, and honestly it's a ton of fun! NIH's designer works with you for every selection and most of the time she thought of every question before I even had a chance...she is extremely organized and stayed on top of everything! We've had many friends build with other builders who sadly don't have fun, and are definitely very stressed. We chose to build with NIH for the second time, because we knew that they made the process easy, the quality is top notch, and even the follow-up and care for the customer after the fact is way above the competition! We would highly recommend NIH to any one who wanted to build!
