This project lasted over two years from design to finish and I can say that I would absolutely recommend ACT builders. You don’t get through a full house remodel with out bumps, bruises, and conflict but I will tell you, the end result is all that we wanted and more. Their professionalism and follow through and commitment to making mistakes right and customer happy is above and beyond. What shines above their skills in the trade is their character and integrity in a very difficult business. It could not be more difficult to complete a full house remodel during Covid and they finished the project well, made mistakes right, and were not above an apology. We are grateful for our relationship with Charlie and Aaron and all their subs. We were very happy with all their subs except for maybe two but they made it right when things went south. Was it a perfect process? Not at all! I never want to do this again! However, we are thankful for all the hard work that went into remodeling our home and everything ACT did to make our dream a reality. It truly is beautiful. In the main bathroom, when the original cabinet was too large to get my wheelchair in, Aaron custom made a beautiful cabinet to fit in there perfectly. I could not believe how it was exactly what I wanted. We have a friend who is a finish carpenter who saw Aaron & Charlie's work and was amazed at his perfectionism. Every single detail; the crown molding, bead board, baseboards, window surround and the special mill work around the fireplace are superbly crafted. My husband researched fireplace surrounds and thought he knew exactly what he wanted. Charlie convinced him to "trust him" in his design instead. It is more than we could have expected. Aaron & Charlie have a way of coming up with ideas we never knew we wanted until we saw what they did. There is not one thing we would change about their work & workmanship. We just bought this house (pics are from previous owner). We had lots of ideas for what to do but the more time we spend in it the more I am willing to just leave it the way is. I like a fresh, airy style. The house is by the lake so I would like a lakehouse, cottage, beachy feel but it kind of already has that... A: If you could post pictures of what it looks like now, with your own furniture, that would be helpful. And like auntthelma said, if there is nothing that you really don't like, it might be worth it to spend some time figuring out what works and what doesn't before you spend money to change things. **Q: Military Trail Kitchen!** *(in Before & After)* A complete gut and nothing was salvageable. This kitchen seemed to have narrow entry ways and needed a lot of planning. We opened up the main entry to give more of an inviting feel and warmed the room right up! You wouldn't even guess it's the same kitchen! **Q: Help!!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* So I'm having a terrible time picking a countertop. I'm IN LOVE with Carrera Marble (of course) and everything that I keep picking is some kind of marble. I'm aware of all the issues of having marble in a kitchen so I've accepted the fact that I won't be getting it. I would like to do a marble backsplash instead to get my fix but now I have no idea what to do for the counters. I want it light with the more grey blue hues what are my options? I'm not crazy about Quartz (in my opinion it looks very fake and I don't really want to do just a solid color). I found a quartzite that was beautiful but crazy expensive. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!! A: Where have you looked at quartz? Most people who want the look of marble but not the associated upkeep go with quartz and are usually very happy with it. Perhaps what you have looked at was not very high quality? There are also granites available that have a similar look to marble, but whatever you end up going with, if it looks like marble it usually has a price tag to match. **Q: My new kitchen! But which lanterns?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello! Can I have your input please? We are wrapping up our new build and I'm most excited about the kitchen. I keep going back and forth on the pendants over the island. Do I go with the copper lanterns? I can't decide if it will compliment or take away from the hood? (Option A) We also have options B, with clean lines and no glass. Thoughts? Thanks! A: They are both fantastic fixtures that would work well in the space. If you really like the first one, I say go with it! **Q: Mixing colors and patterns! HELPPPP** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi! So my boyfriend and I bought a house and I love to decorate. I wanted to change the floors to a dark wood but we came to the conclusion it was just way too expensive. The whole house was on a gray scale and I never thought the light brown matched. Now we need to work with it but I'm having a hard time transitioning all the rooms to flow together. Pictured is a desk my bf built and then burned to really show the grain of the wood. Also pictured is my (can I just say I'm in love) with our pearly white dining room table, and then our living room that has the blue, gray and white colors. That's all the color I have for now. I just need help with how to make everything flow! What should I put in the dining room?! Just some suggestions on decorating and patterns would be greatly appreciated!! A: That is an amazing desk! But, I would look for a decent sized area rug to put under the desk so that it is not directly next to the wood floor. So far everything looks like it is coming together nicely. If you want the whole house to flow well, I would suggest picking a theme or one or two colors to help connect the rooms. Decorating is a lot easier if you have a specific goal in mind. Are there any colors or looks in particular that you both like? **Q: Replace that wooden deck!** *(in Before & After)* This home had a "typical" builder grade wooden deck. Our design team worked with the client to create an expanded entertainment space for their family and friends to enjoy. We were excited to use Prescott, a brand new Techo Bloc wall product. The patio is natural cleft, full-color PA bluestone. Steps are solid, thermal cut PA bluestone. The built in grill and bar utilizes the sam wall materials with a granite counter top.
