Workmanship was excellent. However, we found little to no response when we had an issue, within warrenty period, that we tried to have addressed. Phone calls were not returned and we were told "they are very busy". We will no longer recommend them to our neighbors because of this. **★★★★★ — inghamsc, Dec. 2015** > We hired Connolly's to: remodel our guest bathroom from bare studs to finished product; to lay tile in the master bathroom: and to lay tile in the laundry room. This company has exceeded our expectations in all dimensions. It began with Tim Connolly who visited our house and listened as well as offering great suggestions. We next visited their outstanding showroom and worked with their designer Amanda. Her eye for colors, fixtures, and trim accessories really helped us to decide on what we wanted. The professionalism continued in their preparation of a detailed breakdown of the job to be done.....important as it allowed us to do a few things we wanted to do ourselves while the contractor was on the job. When the work began, the team led by Luke was efficient and highly skilled. Luke was also the tile "master". Over the span of 9 working days Luke tiled three different rooms with different tiles and patterns. The results were superb...he was an artist and attended to detail throughout. When Amanda made the final inspection a couple of days later we were delighted to show off the project and make our final payment. Amanda offered suggestions to finish off details we hadn't included in the contract....such as installing a fixed, curved shower curtain rod. She offered to have it installed when she sent a workman to take care of two minor problems. How many contractors do you know who are willing to do a few more jobs on a project on their own initiative after final payment has been made? Connolly's is a top notch business, family run, and cared about us as customers before, during and after the project was completed. They were nothing but professional from the minute we first went into their showroom and met the owner Tim until the final project was complete. Their contract was very specific, detailing every item so there was no hidden fees. Their design consultant Amanda helped us every step of the way choosing a truly beautiful bathroom. Their installers, Dave and Ethan, were top notch. They worked really well together and took real pride in their work. It showed in the final product, especially the tile work. This was the first project I had ever been a part of, so this was all new to me. Everyone at Connolly's made it seem so easy, I wish I had done this sooner. Thank you!** *(in Photo Questions)* A: The color is called "Earth" It is the 2" X 6" Bliss Elements glass tile on approximate 12" X 12" mesh sheets, please let me know if you need assistance locating the material!! (My name is Amanda) **Q: Countertop advise** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am redoing my kitchen and have a tight budget (who doesn't??!). I love the quartz I chose for counters, however, am undecided on island counter- should I use the Quartz there too or re-use butcher block (10 years old, has a few stains I think can be sanded it and a couple spits between wood prices on end. This was purchased at Ikea- not sure if they sell this anymore. To buy new it is more expensive than the stone! I love the function and softness of the butcher back, however, will be selling house in 1-2 years. Not sure of appeal for used butcher block vs stone. I think the wood is in style now though. Would it be worth saving old butcher block (save $550) or buying new (cost about 550+) or using stone throughout. I need to make decision by Monday! Thank you for your advise! A: I love the look of the Butcher block myself, however, not everyone will feel the same about the butcher block. If it were me, for the sake of re-sale I would do the stone on the island...possibly save the butcher block for your next home :) **Q: How do you feel about solid surface (Corian) shower walls vs tile?** *(in Bathrooms)* I have installed both types of material and the look is much different between the two products. I am looking for your incite on what you have used ad felt was a superior product and why. A: What tile does for a home verses what solid surface materials bring to the table is the ability to incorporate timeless, elegant design. Unlike solid surface which varying on color and material ( corian versus fiberglass - both deemed solid surface, difference in quality) can be very plain if your looking for that wow factor. I have found personally that the tiled showers etc that cause problems were never installed properly to begin with. A tile pan done correctly will outlast a solid surface pan any day of the week. The pre-pitch that should be done prior to the vinyl assists in assuring that they're will be no standing water under the pan which would cause the mold and mildew issues. Once a hairline crack develops on a solid surface pan water is penetrating through. As most of us have learned, you don't always realize you have a leak until it is to late. The bottom line, do what suits you best, any of these products can fail based on many variables. **Q: How to prevent chrome plating from rusting?** *(in Bathrooms)* Hi all. Is there a way to prevent or fix rusting chrome plated above vanity light fixtures in the bathroom? Should I be doing something special to clean or protect them? I've replaced a few times because the backplate get unsightly rust. Doesn't matter how much they cost, it still happens. Are there any that won't rust? We don't have a fan and have no way to add one without creating a big construction project. The bathroom mentioned has 2 windows that are almost always open because we live in a mild dry climate, but still get fogged up mirrors when the shower is in use. Also, is there a search function for this site? Wanted to search to see if this has already been addressed, but couldn't find a search tab or bar. Thank you A: There is a product on the market called "Faucet brite" by Gel gloss, this cream base cleanser aids in maintaining the polished chrome finish and avoid corrosion. **Q: Masterbath countertop advise.. Need ideas/help on countertop material** *(in Design Dilemma)* I took my tile to the granite place and nothing looked good. I felt like it was fighting/clashing. I was talking to my friend about it and she suggested doing a man made product such as silestone. Anyway... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Masterbath- it has porcelain stonepeak tile, white vanity.. I was going to do carrara marble but didn't go with the tile.. so maybe a silestone or a recycled glass countertop? A: I have used the paint color Sea salt in my own home and I absolutely loved it...something to consider regarding the counter top material and color, the cabinets will be white, the tile in the shower has the Carrara marble look with the grey veining, and then white and grey quartz on the vanity top..for a little contrast is it an option to do a soft grey as the color on the vanity base? The counter top sample you show above looks like vetro stone, absolutely gorgeous material. If this is your long term home, you need to do what you love and forget re-sale- someone else can worry when your gone **Q: BM Simply White Cabinets...White Subway?** *(in Kitchens)* I am considering the option of a white subway (maybe in a herringbone pattern) with my BM Simply White cabinets, black leather counters, and BM Revere Pewter walls.
